L or M you don't need throw invuln for assist so H is just useless and sloooooooow.
imo. imo. (M has the same properties as H and I believe M is invuln longer.)
L is really really fast and has a great hitbox for the first active frame
but it isn't invuln frame one <---- I use this one
M is invuln frame one but a little slower and I dunno how I feel about its hitbox. The cool thing is, is that it hits behind so maybe it's nice for set ups? I dunno.
Edit: Guess I'll add H too.
H suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks. (as an assist)
That's after its invuln period. The attack starts and you lose invuln (well it actually has one frame during the active frame but the attack itself is soooooo slow.) so if they can time well enough it might trade or something thing is bb may get hit out of it.
Here's Hit 2
Note that there is like a frame or two between the attack and vulnerable before this next active frame.
They all end with this
Keep in mind by the last hit you're no longer invuln. (except you lost invuln ages ago actually but I don't want to get every single frame.
Which is why you want that speed, the hits are all separate. I think that's how it works.
Don't quote me on this I have no clue how to fighters.
I don't think the one vulnerable frame of L Beat Extend is much of a difference as far as assists are concerned. I think all assists have a 2f (I think?) universal vulnerability period before they start, so what you're really looking at is:
L Beat Extend: 3f vulnerable, fastest startup, Biggest and Bandest first hitbox.
M Beat Extend: 2f vulnerable, slower startup than L, slightly more damage.
L beat extend is getting consistently beat by fukua`s air fireball. Thanks Mike
M A-Train has armor and as little as 14f of startup from point blank. Criminally underused as an assist, but I recommend you try it out. You can create some really nice setups that will make them afraid to jump.
I use M A-Train to set up against them jumpers. I also use H Brass Knuckles. It's not as effective as an assist, I've noticed, but has massive ground range and works for some set ups. It can be especially deadly with Peacock, playing keep away gets easier when catching em' off guard with it.
Beat Extend only hits once as an assist, right? I get it puts them in the air and opens them up for a combo, but is there something I'm missing on why it's so good?
I used to use Giant Step, but eh...it was never very effective XD

Beat extend L is the good one it is good for a few reasons:
Hits multiple times so it can break certain armor attacks
It has a GIGANTIC hitbox and covers huge amounts of screen defensively
It is super fast
It causes a BB soundstun that causes the hit character to be trapped and suspended in the air for a huge amount of time, then drop down into a state where they can be otg'd from the ground.
The last reason is what makes it SUPER good. Characters like painwheel, peacock, squigly etc etc, can easily use beat extend assist as a reversal, and then convert the otg.
With assists like updo and pillar, it is actually MUCH harder to do this any kind of consistently with certain characters.
man you guys didn't even mention that it's invincible which is like the biggest factor
Kinda true... But it has been likened to a dp assist and all dp assist have invincibility sans head off fortune.
In other words, saying that it is invincible is about as redundant as saying that it does damage or that it is only available while on the ground... Etc
However if you alpha counter to headless dp it will NOT be invulnerable as it goes with how the attack works on point rather than assist. (Like how assist ver. H updo is one hit and AC H updo is the normal amount of hits.)
