So only a couple more palettes gonna make it into the game...
I'm hoping that loverly Leduc/Painwheel makes it in!
And I am also secretly hoping for a Professor Layton/Peacock!
I'm surprised Beowulf is only getting on fan palette. I guess Lab Zero got really into designing palette for the guy. I like Denzen's idea of Kamina Beowulf. Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior Beowulf seem like eventualities. Mike Haggar Beowulf is a must. Akihiko Beowulf seems a little too obvious...
They've mentioned 90s wrestling a couple times in various things related to the research they did to make beowulf. I mean even original alts can resemble something someone has seen before consciously or not...
so maybe?
It was a shot in the dark tbh, but it is similar looking.
Beowulf and Robo-Fortune aren't in the ∞ Endless Beta ∞ yet, but that won't stop people from posting to the wiki things I presume they dug out of data not meant for the public.
Robo-Fortune
Default Colors
Original Colors
RX-78-2 Gundam (Mobile Suit Gundam)
KOS-MOS (Xenosaga series)
Aigis (Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series)
T-elos (Xenosaga series)
Currently unknown (I'm guessing Arcee from a recent Transformers series)
Terminator (Terminator series)
For those keeping score at home, #7 is a notable replacement of the other pink bot, RAcaseal from Phantasy Star Online. A fair swap for more distinctly pink palette since RAcaseal was pink and white.
Beowulf
Default colors
Batman (DC Comics)
William Riker (Star Trek)
Original colors
Wolverine (X-Men)
Original colors (perhaps, an Ultimo Dragon homage)
Original colors (could be a pink Dudley homage)
Currently unknown
On last night's Salty!, when Beowulf was selected, he had 9 palettes, but I think only 7 were selectable. Take a look at #8. What do you think it is?
Currently unknown (I'm guessing Arcee from a recent Transformers series)
The most recent Arcee was blue. Could be G1-Arcee though. Would be a poor choice IMO, there are a lot of cat-bots in Transformers that fit the character better.
I'd say robo's number 7 is from samurai pizza cats because that seems like the kind of reference that would get in but the colors don't match super well so idk.
Robo's #7 looks like the defaut design for the RAcaseal class in Phantasy Star Online.
While it doesn't match 100% this pattern, I remember that they put this reference the first time they shew RoboFortune (Persona is a PSO fan after all!)
I would like to point out something with Double's HK ( Black red white) palette. I was doing stuff and I noticed when I did LK, the hat was white with a red cross. The same reason was the reason why Val had her crosses changed. Why hasnt this been changed or does it not matter with Double? I mean like, it's a red cross on a white background.
I'm not sure if anyone would agree with me, but I have difficultly looking at any Beowulf palette without references in mind. For example, I use Ms. Fortune's Leona palette all the time (because I am a huge Leona fan) and yet most of the time I just look at it as a good-looking Fortune palette. Whilst with Beowulf, all I can see is Batman or Riker or Wolverine. Even his "original" palettes look like references. It's probably because he has so many permutations, with the different facial hair options, shirt/shirtless, optional shirt emblem, optional face emblem, sleeves/no sleeves, bare hands/gloves/fingerless gloves, optional mask... he's just got so much reference potential I guess.
I'd like for some more original colors for him (don't get me wrong, I love references, and I've got so many Beowulf requests to make on the fan palette thread) but like I said, he could use some more palettes where you say "that looks good, wonder if it's a reference" instead of saying "Hey I'm playing as Batman!"
I hope he get's a "story palette," like Past Filia, or Bloody Eliza, or Bunny Cerebella, and etc.
Edit: OH GOD! I just noticed they shaved Beowulf's upper arm hair for his Andy palette!
R-Fortune #7 is most likely Fei-Yen. Also I'm beginning to doubt that Beo #6 and #7 are original, but apparently they are.
Sorry to double post.
I agree about #6 and #7, I couldn't believe it when Mike said they weren't.
I like to think #6 is just a generic all-encompassing Luchadore palette, just to represent the entire movement as a whole. Which a reference in a different sort of way, like grayscale Peacock.
While #7 reminds me of several anime and fighting game characters, but maybe they just thought it looked good.
7. Currently unknown (I'm guessing Arcee from a recent Transformers series)
First I need to say this: Oh my god!! Oh my god!! Oh my god!! She looks GREAT!! Now, about the seventh palette, I think she is Polly Esther from Samurai Pizza Cats:
i would say yes to that BUT... if you look carefully at Robo-Kitty #7 her eyes, head piece and bell are all bright blue. where as Polly has dark blue eyes, a purple head gem, and a golden bell. So it could be... and i kinda want it to be Polly but it might not be at the same time.
It never existed, and I never designed it. I don't know where that sprite file came from.
Well it did look pretty cool. I imagine the pink clad tan Beowulf wasn't yours/official either?
I had thought it was weird that some palettes showed up without there being any new Beowulf gameplay for them to debut with...
Well Palette 4 is back to being my favorite!
Probably commissioned by the Super Best Friends Zaibatsu, #8 Beowulf is most likely Zubaz.
Zubaz, also known by his nickname, The Baz, was a rejected concept character for Street Fighter II, and became popularized and something of a mascot for the YouTube Let's Play franchise Two Best Friends Play, first appearing in their spin-off series Fighterpedia.
#9 I don't think is El Fuerte. The off-white is fitting, but it needs accent colors (like the yellow sash or navy-black elbow pads) to be the luchadore chef. Of course, these are presumedly unfinished files dug from the data so it may be a work-in-progress.
Salty Edit:
On tonight's Salty! there were some Beowulf color talk:
08 = Zubaz (Mike thought it was original because he didn't recognize The Baz)
09 = El Santo (Mexican Luchador enmascarado, film actor, and folk icon)
10 = Yamcha (Dragonball)
11 = based on the 1980's (nothing in particular, just the style of the decade)
You can see Beowulf wearing these colors soon because he should be coming to the Endless Beta in the next update.

Eh, it's not specifically HIDDEN but I wouldn't take any of this as given or even considered. :^P
Though Delphox' activities are just another nail in the coffin of future community-oriented development. There's being a scientist and digging Hugo out of the SF3:NG ROM 8 years later, and then there's this kinda junk that just makes developers hate everything. I don't want to have to go REMOVE things that we're working on and do extra work for every nightly build (which already take hours) just to prevent people from being shitheads, that's the kind of thing that would make me just say screw it all and close the Beta.
Oh, so that's how they got the RoboF stuff? It's already there in the Beta, just not visualizable to the player? I thought they were fake
She has a select-screen idle (the tiny one), and some dummy palettes for the select screen to go with it, from like months ago. It's not all that hard to put together, but I kinda don't appreciate it.
