The Smash Bros Discussion Thread

Now becomes the question of modes. Are we getting Smash Run? Are we getting Story? Are we getting that board mode that no one played? Are we getting Melee esq. Adventure mode? Are we getting all the Stadium modes? Are we getting Challenges? and Are we getting anything like the Codecs, Fox/Falco comm calls, or Palutena's Guidance and if so how much of it would be new or redone?

In Samus' trailer, you can see a Frozen metroid drop, which she blows up with a Super Missile.

But I do hope we get ALL Three comms, that'd be super great.

Anyway, kinda excited for "Echo" Characters because this can allow more characters that we might've not gotten before.
Like it's clear Shadow may be an Echo character now, and this will also allow peoples suggestion of adding Black Bull/Death or whatever he is from F-Zero as a Echo of Ganondorf.
Or what about Chrom? Make him an Echo of Ike.
 
I hope that the Blood Falcon will have unique voice lines.

I can see Medusa or even Viridi be Echoes of Palutena and Hades being more likely being an echo of Ganondorf. Though I hope that if we do get Palutena's Guidance again that Hades buts in so we can get some sass rather than 3 nerds trying to out dork each other (not that I mind but it will be less grating for people not familiar with KI). But I really was hoping that Dark Pit would of been De-Echoed by giving him claws, palms, clubs, and/or His Staff and change his Final, but awell.
 
I want interactions. Like not just characters from a series talking about other fighters, but crossover fighters talking to each other. Hell, doesn't even need talking, could be visual scenes like Subspace Emissary.

I really feel like that's what's missing from not having Subspace Emissary anymore. The Samus/Pikachu teamup. Peach serving tea. Sheik being a BAMF (especially with cute energetic Zelda now).
 
Thanks to several eagle eye-d folk, we now know that there's 75 different stages as of now.

D1 is going to have a hell of a time testing all of these...

Also there's mini trailers for each and every character, some showcasing some new stuff, like how Duck Hunt can act out of Up B, or little Mac can Up B out of Side B.

 
It's looking like every single stage from 3DS/Wii U returns, with some other returning stages.
Still hope there's room for more than a few new stages, I can't just fight on New Donk City or the Great Plateau tower...
 
If they are going for the route I think they are, Every previous stage will return along with every character. If so, then I can only imagine the strain that must put on a disk. there might not just be room.

I wouldn't expect a ton of New, but a lot of Updated stuff. Still, a subspace emmisarry would be amazing. One complaint I noticed was smash 4 lacked single player content (which I mean, it IS a multiplayer game, why would you-) So I hope they save space for those lonely loners.
 
I liked Smash Run. I don't know how good Smash Tour actually was when played multiplayer, but I've only heard that it's not a good mode and I doubt it's any good for single-player.

We could also get a Training Mode that doesn't suck to lab stuff

Octoling could be an echo fighter for Inkling, but slower and more powerful weapons. Like Octo Brush instead of Inkbrush, Dynomo Roller instead of Ink roller, ect.
 
I'm just wondering if an Echo character has to be from the same franchise as the character they're echoing, or if it'll go nuts and we'll have shit like an Echo character of Captain Falcon but it's a diff franchise

Actually I think a lot of new assist trophies are simply much more interactable now do to them being K.O.’able. For example I distinctly remember the pink ball nes fighter guy being grabbed and reacting to it
 
I’m honestly fine with Daisy being picked to be an echo fighter because unlike Waluigi, she has more personality to her than Waluigi, whose only notable characteristics besides going “wah” and Nintendo confirming he’s uncircumcised for some odd reason.


Like, give me the round faced, fun loving, sassy tanned queen that is Daisy any day.
 
Can we just agree to NOT trash talk Waluigi's supporters because the character you wanted got in over him? All it serves to do is hurt people's feelings, and they're already feeling wounded from how Sakurai deconfirmed him.
 
Switch is more popular than WiiU, and you can't complain they haven't brought BACK someone from melee

Maybe now it'll get more traction at tournaments than melee.

Analog TVs and gamecubes aren't that common and original disks and repair parts are getting progressively rarer

as much as I don't care for Waluigi, I'm not shitting on the fans he has.

Just give him an umbrella and a spear. And change the mobility slightly. Except instead of multiple sword slashes, it's getting stabbed with a spear.

It's a neat thing to think about though.

by that point, it's a luigi or a dorf and not an echo
echo characters are basically just reskins with slightly altered properties

the real echo we need is Hades (or Black Shadow I'm not picky) to replace the lost Oldmanondorf style of the past, since dorf is stealing moves from Ike and Cloud now
 
No way, Hades is an Apocalypse/Onslaught/Galactus type of character.

Some... extreme Waluigi fans have taken to harassing Sakurai on Twitter due to the fact he's not playable, and some people have gone so far as to say that people only want Waluigi because he's "a meme". I can confirm that no, I did not want Waluigi in because he's a meme, it's because he's related to Wario in some way and he's a cheater.
This is why we can't have nice things
 
I mean people have harassing Nintendo employees over smash for years. Like when Krystal wasn't in Brawl people sent death threats to Nintendo/it's employees. As well as spamming forums like Gamefaqs with similar messages/threats. And Smash 4 had similar instances, just not as overblown as the current Waluigi incident.

The longterm thing of Krystal not getting in is so fascinating because her last realistic chance to become playable was Brawl.
Then by the time 4 came out she hadn't been in a game for well over 6 years, so she was irrelevant. Now she's even more irrelevant and literally lost her one and only chacne to be playable. It's like the "One-Off" characters of Zelda, might've had a chance for Ghirahim in Smash 4, but that ship's sailed.
Skull Kid still has a chance because Majora's Mask is an evergreen that is never not relevant.

But yeah, fucking shitty of people to harass someone just 'cuz the game isn't how they want it
 

Okay made my point. All it took to make me post on these forums again was a new Smash being revealed with everyone in it + Ridley. Now call me when K. Rool, Spring Man, Rex and Crash Bandicoot make the line up. Ooh and maybe Funky, Octoling, Ninten and Black Shadow as Echo Fighters.
 
You know I just kind of realized something, I don't know if it's something to take note of

but are custom moves, just, kind of gone? Like because of the changes to Palutena that really makes me feel that they won't be making a return to Ultimate

I would be normally pretty sad about this but: None of the DLC characters had custom moves making me already disappointed in the first place about them and, could some of those animations or properties be recycled into echo fighters?

All of Palutenas moves have been standardized, and because we have at least 68 characters, I imagine yes, Custom Moves are gone.
There was never anyone really liking them either.
But yes, you are right, they could be recycled for Echo Fighters.

Better question.
Do you guys think Sakurais bias will lean towards MOTHER this time, think we could get some MOTHER 1 or more MOTHER 3 stuff this tme? Because as someone pointed out, Ninten could be an Echo of Ness, and Gigyas could be an Echo of Mewtwo.
