Beowulf Big Band
Heya. Started playing sometime in early June, figured I should finally start a training diary or something.

Playing BeatExtend Band/WulfShoot Beo, because Band's trumpet and Beo's stupid command grabs.

Secondaries are Fukua, Eliza, and Filia. Dabbled in Parasoul.

Current Status as of 8/30/2015:

-I've got decent combos. Not the best, but they work for me.

-Neutral game's okay, but I'm using j.MK and Brass Knuckles as my approach options with Band, which are bad. Too much j.HP with Beo.

-I don't have a proper finisher for my Beo combo. Right now it's, with chair:
c.LP - c.MP - c.HP - j.LK - j.MK - j.HK - c.LP - s.MP - s.HP - Chair Toss L - Microhop MP Gigantic Arm.
Been messing around, and if I throw out Beat Extend right after s.HP, it gives me time to do Chair Toss H into Airwulf or Gigantic Arm, but it feels like it's doing less damage somehow.

My first ever tournament, recorded three days after I bought Skullgirls. I was sooo scrubby... Well, more so than I am now.
Ranked Match recorded shortly before this thread was posted:

  • I keep calling Wulf Shoot as a reversal even though it has no invincibility whatsoever.
  • Full-screen Giant Step is apparently my favorite move.
  • I need to throw out Gigantic arm less often.
  • STOP USING BRASS KNUCKLES H AT POINT-BLANK >_>
So... yeah. That.

L Brass is a good approach option mid range and with practice you could use that L Brass muscle memory to punish close whiffs with M Brass.

It probably is because of assist scaling.
Is BE a grab? is grab scaling higher than assist scaling??

Run forward.
Did you run forward?
If yes, go work on that conversion now!

I got 100 ranked wins with band with just st.lk st.mk(2) j.lk j.mk so I believe in youuuuu
 
Use H chair toss assist for beowulf, it's by far the best one he's got.

BigBand's neutral game basically revolves around j.lk and Cymbal Clash, try focusing on those two and just jump a lot in general. For Beowulf, his neutral really has a lot of j.hp xx blitzer so you're probably good on that front.

Yeah, it's a hitgrab.
Beat Extend is not a hitgrab. And using it in the middle of a combo doesn't affect scaling differently than any other regular attack.

You don't have to go with 'feel', go to training and test both combos to see what does more damage.
 
Status update: 9/5/15

-Put Beowulf on point, added Squigly to team in mid. Band is now anchor for that SWEET Satchmo Solo.
-Spent time in training mode; added two more burst baits to my repetoire through sheer chance ("Wait, did I just trigger a safe burst?")
-Checked at frame data for a few moves. Damn, -20 is pretty bad for Beo's tag.
-Possibly the most important bit: Learned to play the SG theme on Band's trumpet.

Squigly current corner BnB: c.LPx3 c.MP s.HPx2 Stance cancel s.LK s.MK s.HK j.LK j.MK j.HP s.LPx2 s.MPx2 s.HPx2 Silver Chord --> Daisy Pusher --> c.HK apparently isn't burstable, bait with it.
