This weird-ass game controller

I saw a variant of that for the GameCube. Apparently, it was meant for Phantasy Star Online.

Oh hey. Look what just showed up! *Valentine'd*

Apparently it's for Dragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Victory and is a replica of the arcade cabinet controller.

It's a card game.

This is some Yu Gi Oh bullshit and I love it.

Appropriately called "Sinister".

Appropriately called "Sinister".
Jeez, some of that shit sounds like star ship engine parts.

Appropriately called "Sinister".

I'm looking at it and I don't get it

It's like a creature human eyes are not capable of looking at

I think if I saw this IRL my eye sockets would burn out and I'd go mad from revelation

I'm pretty sure what you have there is a fourth dimensional object.
Try to not interact with it.

Oh my god.

I hate the Wii U Etch-a-Sketch controller, but at least I can figure out what it is by looking at it! I just watched that whole video for The Sinister, and I still don't know what I'm looking at!

Ugh. Just had to turn a controller into a keypad. At least he made it lefty-oriented. Otherwise, it wouldn't deserve its name.

There's this incredibly silly notion that the keyboard is the major weakness of the mouse and keyboard control interface and it keeps breeding terrible ideas like this. It's really not. I believe the usual complaint is that you're restricted to eight movement vectors which is... kind of laughable. I mean what situation in a shooter do you need to strafe at an angle of exactly 110 degrees and tilting your camera around a tiny bit to achieve that isn't an option? Plus this one actually takes out by far the biggest advantage of the keyboard which is having a shit ton of buttons. I can't imagine anyone wanting a frankenstein's monster of xbox controllers instead of a keyboard.

I think it looks pretty cool. Certainly I would imagine it working better as a kbm/gamepad compromise than Valve's OWL. Generally, keypads like these are designed for ergonomics and quality parts. Most of the higher-end keypads offer microswitches like mechanical keyboards (for about the same prices, natch).

Keypads like this aren't uncommon (look at Logitech, Razer's Nostromo, etc), and modular controllers have been built for disabled gamers before. I think it's an interesting project. It would probably have better prospects when coupled with VR like Oculus, since a keyboard you can't see would be more difficult to use and a gamepad would be too limiting.

But see, here's the thing. This is about as limiting as a gamepad. It's a one-handed gamepad with a mouse, really, which gives it about 4 buttons max advantage over a normal gamepad (not enough for games that need the extra versatility of a keyboard and more than necessary for games designed around a gamepad.) It would be much better if it could manage about 10 more buttons without making them too small or in jarring places, that way you could play games like Arma/Day Z with VR on easily, but they failed to do that.

Well the thing is designed to be modular and used without drivers, so maybe they could add things on later. And then charge you for it.

Nope, cause it's not flat. It works best by curling up into a little hush-puppy ball and balancing it on your knees

There's apparently also a GameCube version. For your Smash tournies and such. Only difference is THIS keyboard isn't removable, but the PS2 one is

Honestly, the GamePad is one of the most comfortable controllers I've used in a long time. Unlike the Keyboard Kommander, it's perfectly balanced and can be held in one hand without causing arthritis

I remember that controller. I think EGM endorsed it for playing PSO on the Gamecube.

*edit* Shortyatsu beat me to it

When the diagram had labels like reality link and triplex relay I thought that the controller was a joke. Guess jokes on m or them for making the thing.

I actually owned the playstation 2 version of that controller.

Although the nose has fallen off, so a noseless smiling spongebob awaits me every time I decide to boot the thing up.

This is pushing it, but here's a really funky computer mouse incorporating some bones from an animal mouse.

Weird. I thought they only made those for the Xbox 360 controller.

Why is there a Wu-Tang Clan controller? Oh wait, wasn't there a Wu-Tang fighting game?
