Was in the Peacock assists thread and brought up her throw as an assist to @mcpeanuts before I realized it's not really that great with the sliding knockdown from assists on the opponent's point character being gone.
So I took a bit to check out other throws as assists and thought I'd do a video with me talking about that and a couple of other things.

Nasty storm outside, so I'm gonna cut off the post here and shut down my PC for a while. I hope someone finds this.. interesting/useful?

Might do a video on sliding knockdown assists later since the knockdown DOES still affect the opponent's assist, making it a good counter call tool.

i used to mess about with cerebellas diamond drop a long while ago. i even found that if you used it as a reset and timed it just right you could do a ground chain into st.MK (with fortune), call assist and then delay a st.HK launcher (or cr.HP now), you could catch them with the hit if they were holding upback and start a new combo, or if they stay grounded then obviously they eat a throw.

i dont really use throws as assists anymore though now since theres way more useful ones to go for instead.

I only recently dropped throw assist on Peacock so I can speak how good it was. Even after the sliding on assists was nerfed it still caught just as often in crossunder resets and worked great for baiting mashed supers. Seeing as I never used it much in neutral, I'd say it's probably just as good as Fortune's throw since you'll be expecting it to hit, giving you time to convert off it similar to burst bait setup.

Throw assists in general are really nasty for characters that can cause pre-block with long active air normals like Painwheel. Even more threatening if you can crossup with it. That said, I wouldn't opt out for throw except on a handful of characters that only have "meh" assist options: (Peacock, Val, Painwheel, Squigly)

Except for the occasional quickmatch trolling, or gimmick team, I wouldn't sacrifice something like beat extend for a throw.
