Valentine Beta Combo and Tech Thread

S.lk has a tendency to whiff on certain characters during the ground string. Eliza in particular is one I've noticed this happens the most with.
 
Delay each s.lp hit to make them fall a little.
 
So what are the new combos off air grab?
What's the most damaging universal combo now?

And here's something to abuse Big Band's fatness

Air grab
M bypass, j.lp xx L bypass
air dash j.mk j.hp
c.hp
j.hk xx H bypass
air dash j.mp(x3) j.hk xx M bypass
mini ground dash s.lp (x3) s.mp (x2) c.mk s.hp xx H bypass xx EKG

you can also cancel the throw into L bypass and drop on him with j.lk for a restand. Despite this, it's far more reliable to just cancel into scalpels and then do whatever.

It's a good low/throw mixup if you miss the link.
 
Has the bypass changes led to a significant change to her counter hit combos? I imagine the one I do in retail is no longer optimal. Both corner and midscreen?
 
Bypass changes make bomber do even more. In beta with bomber, I can get 9k from cr.lk with no vial loaded, about 9.6 with 1 vial and 10k+ with level 2+ loaded. It has an insanely hard link that is very easy to screw up, so there is an execution barrier ( its a few frame link with j.mk, think about that). I could probably make it easier though. (She also has easier 8.5-8.8k combos). Assists maximize her damage though, due to links not capable solo. CH makes all of this better. Now to actually pull them off in a game. Solo I actually can't get her past 7.5k midscreen, help a man out :(
 
Solo 7.5k midscreen is pretty decent for Val. Before she could only reach 6.9k mids/heavies midscreen solo, iirc.

Yeah, I do that sometimes. It gets easier to land the lower you are to the ground when you air throw. It's also much easier to do with a vial loaded.
 

A reset that uses air savage bypass. It's kinda hard to get it to not cross up but once you get the timing down you can get it pretty consistently. Only works on lights

So I wasn't planning on messing around with beta bypass combos until the changes made it to retail, but I had the idea of OTG c.HP xx Air Bypass and had to try it.


No idea how universal it is; I'm going to bed.

Here is a series of beta tricks ive developed on my own, as well as tricks ive developed while working with gllt, and outlaw spike. shows a base burst bait, and all the things you can do around the base. watch til the end for a prize.

You can also pop the burst with a short dash > c.mp and it'll be safe. It'll also be easy to punish since you don't need to wait for the whole recovery on c.mp to punish with launcher.
If they don't burst, you can either
  • mortuary drop (risky, because mortuary drop)
  • s.hk (x1) (you can dash launcher to punish with HCH)
    • s.hk (x2) and (x3) don't work because they can't be punished or you get hit, because these two push you forward.
  • or simply go back to neutral, throw a shuriken, idk, your choice

So with the buff to the frame advantage on the first hit of j.mk, adc j.mp > j.mk(1) > fastfall j.hp is an even better reset option.
You know, that thing duckator used to do and dashed under them. Now it's even more time in the air they can't do anything and it's a 3 way mixup: left/right/air grab.

cr.lk, cr.mk, cr.hp, j.hp, h bypass, m bypass, AD, j.hp (bait)
 
j.hp bait has been there forever.

I cheated with LnL assist, but I broke 9k with Val midscreen. 1 meter.

On lights and some midweights you will cross sides if you do almost any Iad move after an immediate j.hp hk bypass mk bypass after launch and it will switch sides.
