What are some things you would like to add that won't affect the game?

1. Taunts. I want taunts. I love them. I mean if we think about it, every character already has a taunt when they do their assist.

2. Unique team intros. What if you pick a certain duo team (not every possible combination), that team will have a certain quote and animation to it. For example, if Cerebella and Beowulf were your team, the animation would be them tagging in each other at the start of the round. (doesn't switch order) Just imagine Bella raises Vice-Versa's hand then Beo's giant arm comes from the side of the screen and she tags him in, and Bella jumps out.

Or to go more simple, and possibly doable with what we already have, at the start of the round each player's team is shown, and then whoever isn't the point characters leave the screen. (Maybe a quote) For example, Valentine can throw her smoke bomb and disappear during the intro.

Considering all taunts in this game are functional, I think this would affect the game a bit. Giving everyone some sort of buff-thing they can do would change up the game a lot.

This is why I like having Devil Horns for an assist- it's fun to have an "EXCELLENT!!!!!" button. "I'm on a boat" is also nice.

I'm thinking more useless taunts ala MVC

"I'm on a boat" is Eliza's cHK? I spent ten minutes and haven't heard it once.

Also, scriptable training ghosts for timing/combo practice could be cool. Sort of a translucent overlay of what your character's supposed to be doing while you mash and pray.

Like Goodbye already said, this would definitely have an effect on gameplay. Taunts have an actual effect on balance and gameplay in SG. They have mentioned that they'd like to give every character a taunt though, so I hope it happens regardless of whether they create unique animations or just reuse animations that are already in game!

This would be really cool! It would require a decent bit of work, but it's something that would give a nice little bit of depth to the characters.

This probably wouldn't be possible on PS3 and 360. I'm pretty sure the game wouldn't be able to handle having (at max) 6 characters on screen at the same time. Those systems can barely handle having 3 characters on screen sometimes.

I doubt they'd do that. Characters that currently have taunts already gain some sort of buff for using their taunt. If other characters got taunts, why would they not have any sort of effect? Having no effect would just be inconsistent with the rest of the game's design decisions.

To be fair, Thor in MVC3 has a command taunt that builds meter while everyone elses sans Deadpool are functionless

But yeah. When MOST character taunts have function while some don't seems weird

Felicia has a command taunt for meter build too

just saiyan

My statement on the chance of getting taunts that are functionless has nothing to do with any sort of precedent set by other games. The reason I think it wouldn't happen is because Mike Z has been fairly straightforward in expressing his design philosophies, and consistency seems to be a very big part of how he designs SG. I doubt that we'd get functionless taunts because I don't think Mike would allow for them unless every character had functionless taunts, not because of some other arcane or unrelated reasoning. But I ain't him, so I can't speak for him. That's just what my guess would be.

And yeah, I wouldn't count Felicia's meter build as a taunt. It's just a move.

Well, this thread was about what YOU would add. Just a fun little conversation. Not really about features that you're hoping will make it in.

Sure, but I just like to argue. I think discussion is fun :P

Anyways, an online tournament function would be pretty neat. By that, I mean a system that could automate brackets, matches, and pretty much the entire tournament process for a group of online contestants. This sounds pretty difficult to implement, but it would be so cool!

Heck, a Quick Match function that actually somehow finds people who won't stomp you in three moves would be nice...

The only reason that happens is because not enough people are playing the game at any given time. QM does in fact search for people based on their skill level compared to your own, but if there aren't enough people that are also searching for a match atm then it will prioritize giving you a match to play, even if the person is obviously much better than you or has a poor connection. Most people would prefer to play a game regardless of the skill gap than get stuck waiting 10 minutes for someone of equal skill.

  • Disable stage background in training mode (ideally with red/green/blue/black/white as solid BG color options)
  • Disable character artwork entirely in training mode (i.e., just hitboxes like the linux port is atm)
  • Training dummy in training mode with adjustable damage modifier, character-specific hurtbox options, and weight options (i.e., combo works on fortune filia, switch to double's hurtbox/weight instead of exit > char select)
  • Training mode character shading/coloring based on state kind of similar to how Tekken 4 training mode worked. Hitstun shaded the entire defending character purple, open input window shaded the attacking character white whenever inputs were available kind of similar to how CH red or PBGC green works now. In our case, hitstun/normal/special/super/special-followup might use different/several colors. This is kind of reduplicating the advanced frame data information and hitstun bar that already exist, but it's nice for visual cues. Might also be some conflicts with cases where there are multiple cancels available or just one type but not others as an exception.

Oh, and there's also probably a couple hundred palettes in the Fan Palette thread that are legit enough that I'd want to see it in the game. That thread is one of the best on Skullheart, I suggest everyone check it out (even if you just skim old posts for ones everyone liked, it's worth it).

Most of the ideas that keep popping into my head are related to Training Mode, so maybe I'll have to hop on over to that thread later.

But hey, we still gotta have VS screens! Very important. I was always a fan of XvSF style screens, but something similar to MvC2's, with a deco styled layout, would probably look pretty sweet. A SF3: Double Impact style Victory screen would be pretty awesome too.

Oh yeah, and I also wouldn't mind some new artwork for the Filmstrip images that display during Supers. It'd be even cooler if there was a unique splash for each individual Super, but I guess loading that much artwork would probably cause memory problems.

I think it would be nice if you could save two assist to replace those two assist the game gives you when you pick a character so you don't have to always use custom assist.

I want a meme censor. Blackboxing some frames would be too nonsensical, but I'd wish for some lines to just be cut off, or have the meme censor option for them to be avoided.

Hm... That reminds me- does anybody know what sort of interface the developers are planning for the voice packs? Options from the main menu? I imagine the voice lines are loaded upon match confirmation, so changing in the middle would be problematic.

Last time I heard, voice packs were planned to be put in Extras.
