Ok, where should I start? I have Skullgirls and I generally enjoy playing it when I do play it and even online I get a kick out of some of the matches I have but my problem is I get really discouraged when I get murdered by people and getting trapped in those corners, we all know what that's like right? I actually dropped Skullgirls when the original was still around but that was back in 2012.

I stayed watching streams, reading about the characters on the wiki, loving the art and etc but when I watch the streams it just makes me realize that all I really want to do is truly be apart of Skullgirls and be good at the game however I have no idea where to start. I'm new to fighting games so when I see stuff like "s.LP -> s.LP -> c.MK -> s.HP -> j.LP -> j.LK -> Airball [H] -> Airdash Forward -> j.MP -> c.LP -> c.LP -> c.HP -> Any Blockbuster" I get kinda lost, yeah its that bad. I really want to love the game in its entirety and since its a fighting game I figure being good at it is the only way to truly be involved with the game and the community. So any advice on just anything would be much appreciated. Please&Thank you.

Break that combo down into smaller pieces. Start with a ground chain; since s.hp launches, we'll replace it with an s.hk for now (Filia players, correct me if this doesn't work). So, you start with s.lp -> c.mk -> s.hk; that's easy to add a special and super on to, so you have s.lp -> c.mk -> s.hk -> hairball -> gregor. Once you're comfortable with that, you can replace the s.hk with an s.hp -> jump -> air chain -> airball -> gregor. And once you're comfortable with that, you can replace that gregor with an air dash cancel into another chain. Just break it down into parts and build on it as you become comfortable.

Did you play the tutorials
I did them in the original though I still got murdered multiple times which kinda killed my spirit in the first place, so now I'm back here trying to see if there's anything specific I can get to help me out. I hear there's not much hope for solo players XD

You need to not be easily discouraged because if you want to play and learn, you're going to lose a lot. Prepare to lose hundreds of matches. You need to be able to see what went wrong and what went right and be able to see if/where you're improving even if you lost at the end.

I'll keep that in mind, I don't know what it is about fighting games that just makes me feel so unworthy of playing I just stop all together. You're right though...definitely got to work on that. Though it may take me a while to adjust to the idea of teams and making all that work. This is the first fighting game I played where teams were introduced though I've seen it in MvC I never bothered to play that.

Also keep in mind that the above is completely normal. No one ever started out super duper pro, at any game ever. You get good at games by loving them and putting in lots of time and effort.

Also just remember that you don't need to be great to enjoy the game. If you don't feel like putting in any more time or effort to improve than you already are, than don't worry about it and just find people with a similar mind and skillset to have some fun against. Nobody is judging you for not being a tourney pro, and if they are then they are assholes and you shouldn't care what they think.

Lol, of course. I think I'll see what else I can try and pick up for myself. Though if I were to make any progress I don't think I'll know if I would be or not. Not sure when I'd know when I'm improving or when I'm not if that makes any sense. X3

My advice is to just get comfortable with your character. Practice air dashing, jumping, and crossing the training dummy over. Long combos can be broken down into chucks, separated by launching (filia's s.HP (standing hard punch)) and landing. Each chunk is typically a few moves that you can practice in isolation. Try out each of your moves and memorize their properties and which button they correspond to, that way, when you read a combo, you can expect how it will work by playing it out in your head. But combos take time and practice so don't feel down if it takes a week to learn even a short one.

If playing online is discouraging, then have fun playing against the computer. Hop online only when you're bored of fighting the computer and want a tougher challenge. You'll be more confident in your movement, blocking, and hit confirming, and be able to focus on the strategy behind why you're losing, rather than trouble with execution.

as with everything else practicing a lot comes into play.

Speaking of experience (and I am one who have played multiple fighters, generally TEKKEN though)
Take your time, it will get to you, eventually. Also what have been mentioned earlier, practice combos against the dummy, break them up if you find them too differcult and chain them together once you can do both breaks about a 10x in a row without failure... You generally have to sink A LOT of time in the tutorials and training room in fighters before you start to feel like an intermediate player. Start up with playing agianst AI, try to find some other newbies on these forums maybe? and start sparring with them in your own lobbies, try out some easy combos that you have learned so far (does not have to be good or long, jsut some combos really) and then go back to the training, rince and repeat... Yesterday I made a lobby with some more advanced players and I got my ass handed to me on a silver platter, but it was fun. Cause if you take it the right way you always have things to learn, and if you have, as I did in my case a friend who is more skilled then you, ask them to give you tips about what you do wrong and try to correct them.

(as a referance I have more then 600h+ put into TEKKEN 6 in online mode only and I was just starting to break the "Intermediate" border of play)

TL;DR . Use training room, A LOT. Find some newbie friends or better players here who can help you sparring and give tips about what you do wrong. Don't take a loss as something bad and have fun!

Thanks everybody for the advice and everything, I've been practicing since last night and I'm going to do more today. Might even just practice all day, Grand Theft Auto Online ain't going anywhere XD, gotta say I like the players of this community. Its a lot better than my time in BlazBlue where all I got was "Get better", "You main Bullet, you're terrible" and all that noise. Very rarely did I come across people who give encouraging words and good advice. So I just want to take the time and say thank you to everyone who helped me out. You guys are the best :D

You were lied to. As long as you put in the work, any characters and sizes are good.

Team viable challenge?

If I remember right, Team Viable was Squigly/Peacock/Valentine (in that order). I think it was from dekillsage saying all teams were viable.

always remember KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid!

IMO play this game every other day. or just for a bit and something then come back.
