I'm usually careful these days as to what games I buy, so I have not played any bad games recently. Saying that, I played a few bad games when I was younger because I couldn't find out if the game was good or not. One of these being Superman 64, which I rented twice. To this day, I still question why I did that.
I never made it past the first level. Now, I was kind of incompetent back then, but I was able to make progress in any other game I played. Not this one though. The Controls sucked hard. I was never fond of the N64 controller because I thought it was crap, but there were some games that pulled it off better than Superman 64 and almost made me like the controller, almost.
Besides bad controls, the game itself was very boring. Like I said, I never made it past the first level, but it was enough to give me an idea on how the rest of the game would play out. Fly through rings, complete objective, fly through more rings, complete another objective, and so on so forth. Just the idea of having to fly through rings under a time limit was very stupid. Why not just give me objectives to complete instead? You know, saving people, stopping bad guys, something Superman would do.
I can't really say too much about the music. Pretty bland to be honest. Could have been better, like making it sound more heroic.
Years later, I started watching a Let's Play of the game by ProtonJon. I was curious as to what the rest of the game was like and decided to learn about it. Turns out, I was partly right. Most of the game is just flying through rings, complete an objective, and repeat. With some stages where you are inside buildings. Also, it looks like the beta of the game would have been more fun. Ain't that something?
