I'm pretty sure I said this before the forums died last time, but your group shots are so good. They look like professional promo posters that you see for movies and stuff I just love 'em. And the style has a classic air to it, just can't get enough!

I always wanted to do that. I love doing illustrations like that. I have another sketched out, but I'm not going to post that finish that one yet since I have a commission and another assignment to do.

I'll explain this really quick: this is how I usually work with an image.

Sketch 1) This i the basic sketch, and what I'm going to work with. This picture shows off the cast alongside this girl I created. It's self-explanatory. The girl is telling you all to go download the game.

Sketch 2) As I'm rendering it from bottom up, I start to make changes along the way. 4Chin and Painwheel trade spots. The girl has her arm around Filia. I wanted to give off that certain "bond" between oc and cannon. So it's like this: "Yo Filia! As a saiyan, I play Skullgirls so you and me? We need to tell these goons to do download it!" Cerebella and Val are switched. Since they're both my mains, their roles in this picture are superior than others. I have to admit that down shot in Painwheel's intro is gold. I had to snag that and it also matches Cerebella. Squigly also got fully funded. She deserves to get in this picture.

Final version) Everything is shaded in, touched up in Photoshop and digitally enhanced with blacks. I still don't like my girl's tail at the beginning, That curve urks me a little bit, but it's nothing to serious.

What's the girl's name? Her name is Caroline. How did I come up with this? In my freshman year of school, I had a crush on this girl and her name was Carol. I created my character from her because she left. I'll never see her again. ain't it a giant coincidence that Painwheel's name is Carol and my mascot is named Caroline? That explains why Painwheel is frowning down on her. I didn't know that would be her name. I didn't start really playing the game until June 2012.

It's a small world...

I believe we talked to each other on a Salty Cupcakes stream a few weeks back, I am Skullzen on Twitch.
I definitely stand by what I said back then; If you go all out on a Cerebella pin-up and submit it to EightySixed you have a really good chance of getting it turned into a poster. In fact I almost guarantee it. I don't think EightySixed gets too many poster submissions and yours is some of the best vanilla pencil art I've ever seen.
I know somebody who would love to learn a thing or two from you.
If EightySixed releases your art as a poster I WILL buy it and hang it on my wall, at least I will when I have my own place.

I remember. I'm sorry, I haven't been there. You see my computer died on me a few weeks ago. I can watch the streams thankfully thanks to my ii U. The only problem is, I don't have access to the chat. lol it sucks because I can watch the streams but I can't say anything. So I'm there as a ghost sadly. i'll be watching it tonight but sadly, I can't talk. I'm glad I can watch it.

I'm still learning, new ways to render with my pencils too. I have stubs to blend but I noticed I took twice as long, so I just don't blend everything like I use to. I still use it, but not on every part of the images I draw. For the portrait shot with the cast, I did use my stubbs for certain parts but not all aspects of the image.

The idea of submitting a poster to them is grand. I dunno which one to send them though. I would love to send them my group shot since I recall DS saying OCs are acceptable so long as no other characters from other franchises are present. lol That' why I strip my OC of all her features when I draw her solo or within SG territory. A poster submission sounds so cool. Thanks for idea. A cerebella pin-up poster huh? I'll give that a shot too. I have a few sketches lyin' around my folder. I might just redraw the image I did with the guitar.

you'd really buy my stuff? Man, thats so cool to hear. ^____^

It sounds like an idea. I dunno if I should email them with something new or something old. But first I have to finish this Filia commission. He paid me, so I gotta work with him.

Ah so that's why I haven't seen you on the streams lately. Well that's alright, I hope you don't have too much trouble sorting that problem out.
If you're going to submit an old design I would recommend either the guitar one or the fairly new one with the black dress, especially the black dress. They both have that pin-up style and they're safe for work so EightySixed won't have any problems with it.
If you decide to do a new one well then I really look forward to seeing it, as well as the Filia drawing.

It's great to see you say this, one of the best things about your crossover shots are that you stick to a particular style, but anatomically it keeps what they have from their origin (i.e. Felicia compared to the other characters in the Halloween group work). Somehow it manages to make everything fit neatly into the image, but doesn't put everything into uniform shapes and sizes.

Also, some critique, I notice in your older pieces (the most recent example of this being the Korra beach pinup, another example is the Pokemon White Trainer beach pic) the heads are just a bit too big for the rest of the body, and it makes them look really short. Holy crap your good lol it really has that 'oomph' impact when you look at the characters.

i get that a lot when it comes to head sizes.

Your work is really cool. I would definitely try out colored pencils though. It doesn't seem like it would be but the transition between graphite and colored pencils is pretty easy. Our art styles are nothing close I still think its worth trying. My stuff got a lot cooler when I went to colored pencil and I haven't done anything in graphite since.

I wanted to take the time to clarify something with a few of you and to those who read this, randomly perhaps.

Who's the girl?

This girl is my character. I created her around May 2012 because sadly I didn't have any characters of my own. I created this girl and I named her Caroline. There was this girl I had a crush on in Foundation here of school and sadly she left. I made her specifically for illustration and stories I post on my DeviantArt. Right now, I'm working on a fanfiction right now that involves her. It's more of a MLP sort of thing.

Her purpose is pretty much to represent me. When people see this character, they can think, "oh I know who that is! That's the girl tail." That's pretty much the title I've given her. Some people have probably seen her before and if they have, they've seen that I've given her the traits of super saiyan. That's the inspiration she comes from. When I create stories or collaborate with friends, her heritage is from the saiyans. When I draw her in pictures like this, she's my mascot. she is my face. Most people usually cartoon themselves, but I took the liberty to create a girl to represent ToddaBella.

Back in Junior year, I was given the assignment to create an advertisement. It was illustrated based and I used her. When I do things of that nature, her saiyan traits are absent as they are in this picture. This explains why every time I draw her she looks different almost every time. It's like Super smash Bros. Think about Peach, in the canon games she's a weakling and constantly gets kidnapped so her Smash persona doesn't exist. Think about that with Caroline. In the stories or those crossovers you see her in, her saiyan traits are not here. Sometimes I like to draw her with Espeon, since that's my favourite Pokemon for the giggles.

Thanks. i appreciate that. you know something, I seen your work on DeviantArt and you can draw really good. The more realistic objects you draw, the better you get at drawing. Its good to master or manipulate that skill really well. That's something I still have trouble with but I try to manage. Keep up the good work, man. You definitely got this.
