So I was looking around for a thread for yugioh card game I didn't find one so I figured I'd make this thread.
Yugioh was something I saw around for a long time but never actually played it until recently. When I finally learned it from a friend it was actually pretty fun (I use a E-HERO/warrior deck).
Feel free to discuss cards, strategies, and yugioh junk in general and be respectful :) .

Stopped playing this on the GBA versions

fond memories

(NOTE: the PSX version is funny, but as a card game it's just plain horrible)

the last deck I built was those monsters where they start off as normal types without effects, but if you spent a summon on a turn you could activate their effect and the effect is super broken but it's worth it.

I've never actually played yugioh on a console except for some demo on xbla. I really like yugiohPro if someone likes or wants to learn it (like on AI mode) I recommend it.

Gemini types! that's what they're called. they're the best. unfortunately they came out around the synchro monster era so they pretty much were moot because synchros could also have broken effects.

I used to play Yugioh. My deck revolved around complete lock down- ie Gravity Binds, Level Limiting Zones, along with a crap ton of counter monsters and traps. So like Blast Spheres and Self Destruct buttons and Hidden Barrels. The second you got locked up I would easily force you to draw out or counter every move you make. it was nasty.

I always called 'self-destruct button' the 'bitch move' card. because it requires a 7000 life point gap and it forces the game to end in a draw.

oh no not that card. I'm not a cheep bastard. I meant this card:

I always like to see decks with awesome dynamics and aren't overused. That card looks pretty cool Ninja.
Does anyone know how synchro cards are in general? I occasionally see them, they look interesting enough.

okay good Ninja. no one needs to use the bitch move card.

seriously, to anyone who has ever used it:
  • you're scum
  • you're a bitch
  • no one likes you
  • you have no real friends
  • everything you love sucks
  • your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries.
  • you don't deserve to play the game
  • your mother never loved you
  • your father never loved you
  • I hate you
  • your family hates you
  • everyone in the world hates you
  • all 3 gods hate you

Have not played Yu-Gi-Oh for a long time. I remember back when it was very popular at my Highschool to the extent where tournaments would be regularly held by certain clubs.

Primary Deck Builds

- Crystal Beasts (My main fav play-style it's very fun and effective. Crystal Abundance OTK and Rainbow Dragon clutch ftw)

- Yubel Theme (LMAO I pissed off so many people off with this annoying playstyle)

- Ancient Gears (If I want to keep things simple with sheer machine power and give zero fucks about traps)

yo, remember when EVERYONE had Jinzo? Jinzo was the shit.

Synchro cards are for the kids who want to turn on easy mode for the match, there are like a ton of very easy and very powerful synchro cards in this game. the only thing that is even more easy mode than Synchro monsters are those Xyz's things. i mean come on.

yo, remember when EVERYONE had Jinzo? Jinzo was the shit.
I used to use Jinzo but he kept on messing up my deck even when he had his equip card on him. If I ever use a Jinzo card in my deck ever again it will have to be "Jinzo 7" cause he can be such a little pest to the opponent.

as much as I liked 5Ds, Synchro monsters were kinda the final nail in the coffin on Yugioh for me. everyone used them, and if you didn't, you were shit out of luck.

which is why I look at my Gemini deck with a tear in my eye because all my badass OP effect monster were null and void because they weren't stardust or the one that jack atlus had that kills everything just for not attacking....

Everyone and their mum would have a staple Stardust Dragon even if it didn't compliment their decks just because of how useful the card was at the time. It was about when Synchros were introduced that Fusions were slowly being phased out despite the boom it received from the GX generation. None of my decks required Synchros so I never bothered with them.

Also Tribute summons are considered low tier now just because of how easy special summons are nowadays. Swarm decks plz

I regrettably also worked my deck to add synchros....

;w; and Geminis thrive on special summons because guess what, you can still use the summon in that turn to give them their OP effect! like, some gemini monster have the effect of "special summon other gemini monsters"

Yeah with CB cards even if my monsters are killed in battle they just go to the S/T zone where it's very easy to send them back in monster zone where I can special summon like 4 CB at once.

For how overpowered these new cards are, they are still pale in comparison to my old school deck. StarDust Dragon wishes he could get to me. I don't even use Fusions in my deck, some good cards, alittle bit of bluffing and bing bang boom your opponent just lost over half of their life points from just one card.

I have my deck lying around in a metal tin somewhere, nearly sold them. I have a ton of memories, fond and not so fond, like when all my Trap and Magic Cards got stolen when I was in Elementary school...

I think I used like 1-2 fusions for my ancient gear deck solely for PowerBond OTK setups, but unless your running an E Hero deck or something fusions seem pretty gimmicky if they don't have good effects. Why bother using specific cards as resources to summon a special monster when special summons can do the job easier with a bigger bang? Syncs alone pretty much make fusions look obsolete.

some of my geminis had two effects in the same effect!

Pheonix Gearfried's makes me laugh because it's just falls short of just saying "uh, you can summon a gemini monster from the graveyard, and uh, you can also discard equips to destroy a card your opponent controls."

EVERYONE! everyone had that one shit who would either cheat, or steal your cards, and when he was forced to give them back to you, he would bend the shit out of them!

FUCK YOU DILLON! you piece a shit! ruining my Swordmaster!

Anyone see those pendulum cards and monsters like quipiloth? Yikes, what a pain.

remember when sinister serpent was the card with the highest uses of any card, and eventually it got so bad with other cards being introduced that they just straight up banned it.

like, I had a yugioh magazine where it was ALWAYS the number 1 card of the month.

I literally just got back into this game for the first time since 2004.
Good god, this game got WAY better.
There's so many cute girls in this game now <:3c

Teehee.

Lol yeah there were at least couple people in my HS who I would label as the shady Yugioh intimidators that would either try to convince you to trade cards to rip you off for profit, corner you into a bet match so you give up a rare card after a duel, or just straight up steal if you were stupid enough to not keep an eye on your deck or binder full of cards. You would think they fancied themselves as RL Rare Hunters or something lol

I wouldn't call them stupid for trying though since at the time certain Super/Ultra/Ultimate rare cards were fetching for a nice price. It wouldn't be odd to see at least 3-4 people with their binders offering to sell/trade cards during tourneys. I remember back when JD (Judgement dragon high rarity level) was going for three figures online. Hell a well built Lightsworn deck in general would cost relatively alot to purchase.

I actually tried to play yugioh online, and that was a nightmare.

imagine only playing with one finger throughout the ENTIRE game. that's what it feels like.

It's a good thing that I can play with... MY MIDDLE FINGER! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! THOSE PEOPLE ONLINE GET MAD SALTY SON!!!

Curious do you all play legal or traditional so you can have OP cards like a Raigeki in your deck?

I play the normal stuff, following the banlists and whatever. I'm like 4 cards away from finishing a Madolche deck which is suuuuuuuuper fun to play.
But like, idk man, everything is fun to play now. Nothing is too broken and the card text makes sense.

Play legal unless told otherwise on certain occasions, I really only use one deck.

Actually, I remember this clearly, what happened was I brought all of my cards to school with me, and had them organized between Monster, Trap, and Magic (I've have a weird hard-on for organizing stuff all my life) in respective jacket pockets, and I left my jacket where I also left my backpack, while bringing my Monster cards with me to play with friends, and you can see where this story ends. Some chump raided my coat for whatever I left behind, Tears were shed.

The cards were equivalent to crack cocaine back in the day for me and my chums, those and Beyblade crap. Completely fell out of the loop with both by the time I entered Middle School.

I remember when Ojama decks would be considered the Dan Hibiki of Yu-Gi-Oh. Rarely is ever seen, troll bait, and quite unorthodox. However with a well built one I seen them ruin people's days and caused big upsets.
