Honestly, she's really no different than Shadow Jago from Killer Instinct. Yes, she's a recolor, but just like Shadow Jago, they could in theory build on her in the future like they're doing with him.
This is pretty much how I feel at this moment in time as well.

There's a difference between "balance tweaks" and "having a blatantly broken move on an untested char in the retail version".

What other character in retail has massive obvious glitches when DHC'd out?

What other character made it to retail with zero playtesting?

Honestly, I'm thankful that Lab Zero made her free. I dunno if this has changed, but in Killer Instinct, Xbone's big fighting game at the minute, the only way to get the recolored character out of a roster of pretty damn unique characters, was to get the deluxe addition, which costs a good sum. Also, Killer Instinct's roster is smaller than Skullgirls with all unique characters, and they still have a recolor.

Dude, you're acting as if it was the 80s, when patching wasn't a thing. Plus, you're assuming that bugs are gamebreakingly bad all the time. Without bugs, we wouldn't even have combos. Just cool your atomic jets and wait for a patch.

The KK super.

DHC her out towards the end of it, and it leaves a ghost image for the rest of the match.

Also, dunno if Cynical realizes this, but characters ship with bugs all the time. Take Spinal in Killer Instinct. When he first came out, if you got someone in a corner and tried to teleport behind them, the damn game crashed.

Fukua would be bundled with the Eliza patch for consoles if the community wants her (which largely seems to be the case when I'm looking everywhere) according to a recent tweet post. By the time that happens Fukua can theoretically be polished up just like how the other existing characters got polished up during Squigly/Big Band development.

Mi dont believe she should be in retail either. But taking her out of retail and putting her in beta seems like it will be a thing. After that there is little to complain about.

A free character with new moves that will be balanced accordingly and who also has a unique playstyle. Its win win for us. Honestly if L0 does palette swaps this well, id welcome even more of them if they bring unique gameplay to a game that otherwise is kinda starved for characters.

I'm fine with it if she's moved to beta, developed/cleaned up/fixed and put in retail when she's done.

I don't want her kept in retail as a completely untested character, and I don't want char development done in retail.

Err, she WAS tested prior to release. Not as much as other characters, but she was.

She's cool, I wouldn't mind if she was permanent. But, like the posts above me, I'd prefer she was put into beta and cleaned up before being put into retail. If she's not going to be cleaned up to the standards of other characters, don't bother putting her in the game.

I think the best course of action would be to move her to the beta, fix/balance/test the crap out of her, give her some additional assets that set her more apart from Filia, and then bring her back to the retail version as an EX character. They set a lot of good groundwork for an EX roster just by making her a thing.

Becareful what you wish for, for this path may lead to the Smash Bros series where its roster is polluted with soulless clone characters.

Just ask yourself this, why does Wolf have a Landmaster?

This seems like the most logical approach.

If Fukua is decided to be left in, I'm absolutely sure she will be made beta exclusive for the time being, and she'll be balanced and tested there. There isn't going to be a huge fuss made of releasing Big Band at the same time for consoles and PC, and then PC also just gets a new character in retail version anyway.

I would be fine if she was temporarily exclusive to beta as well until Eliza launches. Removing her outright would be ridiculous though for a game lacking a sizable roster. Don't give me that "pure quality" argument either when Double and Robo Fortune doesn't live up to the "standard quality".

What needs to be fixed/balanced/tested? Putting her in the beta would be a formality more than anything else at this point.

Tested by one person for three days is obviously an adequate amount of testing g for any software.

Hell, why do we even have a beta, since that's all the testing we need?

I think the only reason why she was put in retail is because more people have retail than beta, and because its a joke.

After the joke dies down i fully expect her ass to be shipped off to beta where she belongs, also, when have you ever known mike to not tinker with things or leave in broken glitches? He doesnt. Unless its seen as something that enhances gameplay.

Tldr, stop worrying, seriously, everything will be alright. Just submit any glitches that are found and they will be cleaned up pronto. This version of fukua is probably very far off from what her final version becomes... So try to not look at things like they are set in stone as far as gameplay is concerned.

This is sg after all, the game barely resembles its vanilla counterpart.

Afterimage DHC glitch for her BFF Super. Also, I think damage should be tweaked a bit; her j.HK>j.HP loop is ridiculous.

Also, for everyone crying for blood over Fukua: Why are you ruining the joke? Furthermore, why are you looking a gift horse in the mouth? Mike didn't have to make her playable; he could've just given us the trailer and called it a day.

This.
I have never seen so much furious anger and "righteous' hatred at something that's fucking free.
This is like.
Almost the full sodium level for the entire month of April.
And it's just the first day.

In terms of cleaning up her animations, at the VERY least something has to be done about the fireball. It looks absolutely awful, not even a "fun joke character way."

For other things: the announcer doesn't even say anything when you pick her, the loading screen shows big band for her, and she has almost no voice clips.

And as for what needs to be tested/balanced...um she hasn't even been available for us to play for even 24 hours, and there is literally NO POSSIBLE way that Mike/Lab Zero alone has found every bug/exploit/crazy overpowered thing about her in the less than a week that they were developing her.

Robo Fortune isn't out yet, and Double DOES match up the quality, because Double is her own character. She has her own comboes, her own moves, and her own animations that are unique to Double. Double isn't a copy and paste character, she mimics the moves of other characters and puts her own twist on it making the move better. Thick of it as Taskmaster's power (not in UMvC3, I meant his actual character in the comics)

I think people undermine the important of palette swaps in the history of video games. You know two famous video game characters who started as palette swaps? Ken Masters and Luigi.

Neither of those are worth removing a character from the main game and thrusting them into beta for. The former can be fixed in a single patch, the latter is a dubious "balance issue" whose situation will only be made more clear as MORE people play Fukua. She's not incomplete or up-to-debate as many parts of Squigly and Big Band were when they were put into beta.

Aside from the fact that I hate that it's a clone and especially hate that it's a clone of Filia of all people (the poor girl's boring enough as it is compared to the rest of the cast, last thing she needs is to even lose the uniqueness of her appearance), I don't really have an issue with her in terms of what she brings to the game. I do want more characters, and I do want more zoners, and her moveset and overall gameplan seems to be more or less what I expected from Black Dahlia. So it really sucks that such a great thing is packaged in such a lame way, since the joke itself is a riot. Maybe it would have been wiser in the long term to make her obviously bad in terms of gameplay, so that this whole debate could have been avoided.

However, as the vast majority of the community is totally fine with a new character no matter what it looks like, then I think the most responsible thing to do from a development standpoint is to temporarily take her out of the retail version and give her more dev time in the beta. She needs a lot of polish and playtesting before she's ready for primetime, and just slapping a character together over the weekend like it's an episode of South Park and throwing it in the game isn't a good look for this game outside of the purposes of the joke.

Besides the few glitches/balance issues mentioned before, I think Icky said it best:

Yeah that loop does stupid damage... But how are you going to actually set that loop up?

You cant do it from a hitconfirm at all because of ips, and the j.hk hits mid so it cant overhead, and the j.hk wiffs on most crouchers... Its a theory combo from what i can tell.

The only real setup for it that i see is that it will punish throw techs... Hard... But her throw game is crap so... Yeah. I'm not seeing her jhk loop as being broken with the rest of that information being known.... But i would like to hear counter viewpoints. Maybe as an attack counter? But most. Attacks are going to be crouching and j.hk wiffs crouchers... So I'm having a hard time figuring out how that combo will be setup.

I disagree how a mimic archetype fighting character from the core matches up to the quality of the pioneers the mimic borrowed from to form a "remix". I can go on, but this isn't the thread to argue about the philosophy of mimics.

Robo Fortune being playable is also going to be a thing. No denying that. She was already described of being a reminiscent of Robo Ky from the GG series. Recycled animations, but will play like her own character similar to Fukua who was stated to be a test for this. That is why she will be cheaper to make. Her character quality would go down, but she would play different enough from the original which is what really matters when your trying to expand a character roster. If you want clone characters done badly look at TTT2 with Bob/Slim Bob or Lee/Violet that look the same and play 98% similar .

It's funny (or sad?) how many people vote 'Yes'.

- Animation Quality of SG as a whole gets lessened due to lack of polish on.. everything
- Even for a clone, she is WAY TOO similar to Filia (almost every normal is the exact same)
- Even for a joke, her moves are too similar to EACH OTHER (Throw=Cmd Grab1=Cmd Grab2)
- Keeping her in ruins the entire joke in favour of showing Capcom that Decapre is actually hype and a good thing

IF she were to get her animations fixed up, and more things to stand on her own feet, I wouldn't mind her being a clone character added to the roster, but Mike already stated that this WILL NOT happen.

The main reason for the "Yes" votes I can see is "Huehue much Filia very joke funny meme so April's fools", and yeah this doesn't cut it.

She's the best Joke of all time, and not only would the Joke itself get ruined by making her a real character, you'd also be blatantly stating that a character that was tossed together in 3 days for free is good enough to stand next to the rest of the SG chars. What the shit is L0 even working so hard for, and why did we donate $829829? With that money, they could make 50 Fukuas instead of 5 new characters.

Recycled animations, but will play like her own character similar to Fukua
Pretty sure Robo-Fortune won't just copy 80% of Fortune's normals with their hitboxes.
On the note of Fortune, *patching* her was more work than *creating* Fukua (had to make the new headon s.HK from scratch)

Fukua has all 3 of the character qualities you've mentioned (have we ever seen a Samsonless Filia j.LP before Fukua got one? I doubt it).
