Shin Megami Tensei and Persona

Hahahahaha NO. that's not going to happen.

At least watch Let's Plays of them. That's what I'm doing with P1 and P2. A lot of people are saying Nyarlothopsomethingicantspellhisname is coming back, but I don't have extensive knowledge of him. So I'm doing some good ol' fashioned plot studying.

*Knowledge upgraded to Sage*

If you don't want to do that, you could always just read their plots on the Interwebz.

Sorry, the problem is that I don't have the time nor the money to be spending both on PS2 games.

Yeah, I get you. These games kinda pull you in and don't let you go. The stories on these suckers are movie and anime worthy. Both of which they have gotten.

Yeah I know how those types of games are. Do you know how much time I've spent on Metal Gear?
Enough time to say that I'll never get it back.
Time well spent.

I would like this lady to be in the new Persona 4 Arena update.

Hopefully, Yukari will be good for me to use because honestly Yukiko is like the only character I was interested in and even then she's actually quite difficult for me to use. I can't even do a fucking Double Maragi loop, seriously, she was made to be played by human players, not fucking octopuses...

Are you playing Yukiko on pad? If that's the case, changing around your button config might help if the issue is having to hold inputs. Or at least that's what I hear

My mains are Naoto, Chie, and Yosuke. Naoto and them deadly traps! Speaking of the game, I enjoyed the story immensely and I love Elizabeth's eccentricities. Could the update come any sooner?

Me too. But there's one itty bitty canon problem.

she dead

Plus, she'd make Bropei all sad and stuff. Maybe there's some way for her to come back though (Revival Beads?).

I totally forgot about that. Also Junpei seems cool in the update and it would suck for him to be all moppy(sad) the whole game. Maybe they'll think about doing DLC for the updated version(if it does well).

I'm just curious as to how Persona 3 characters have Shadows.
I have previously pondered about it myself...

Everyone has a Shadow. It's just that to get their Personas, they didn't have to face themselves, exactly. Actually, the Shadows of the P3 cast were not their true Shadows, just copies made by whoever the Malevolent Entity is to freak them out and turn their Personas back into Shadows.

Oh.
Well.
There ya go

And the P3 cast's problems were A LOT deeper than P4's. That means MUCH stronger shadows.

If something as simple as not wanting to run your family's business could make something like Shadow Yukiko, imagine what could result from a bunch of people who lost their parents to the shadows and such.

Well:

Yosuke: Bored of country life, ridiculed for being son of massive business thats putting everyone else out of business, lost Saki who he really liked (almost loved) then she died because lol Adachi so he actually feels the pain of the case he worked on. Then after she died, found out she didn't like him back, so that just made it worse.
Yukiko: No family business for her, feels like she is being caged but also afraid to leave everything she's ever known.
Kanji: Afraid of being rejected because of his feminine tendencies, slightly gender curious as a result (note that him being questionably gay was NOT his main problem)
Rise: Sick of putting on a happy face for her fans and has lost touch with who she really is.
Naoto: Same thing really, but with a "cool male" persona to try to compensate for being a schoolgirl. Tired of being treated like a kid all the time by adults.
Teddie: The fact that he is a Shadow haunts him and makes him question his existence, or if he even has one (I think this is the most serious out of the Investigation Team).

With P3 chars in P4A it's:
Mitsuru: Feeling guilty for her family's past crimes, also feels that she cannot trust anyone to do anything for her out of fear of losing them (same as not believing in anyone).
Akihiko: Lost his little sis Miki, so he trains to forget the pain of losing people. He does it non stop to dull the fact that he is afraid of losing someone ever again (also, DID YOU SEE THAT SHINJI)
Aigis: Like Teddie, she questions what she is doing trying to be human. The fact that she is "just a machine" bothers and stresses her out, even though she tries her best to fit in.
Fuuka: I honestly have no idea what her problem is. Somebody know this?
Yukari: Lost her father in the Kirijo Death Experiments, and that turned her mom into a whirlwind of dating different men, leaving her daughter in the dust (so emotionally losing her mother too). I think she has the biggest problem in the P3 cast.
Junpei: Insecure and not confident in himself, so he is jealous of others that aren't these things, tries to act like a hero so he can feel good.

It seems the P4 cast is more "fuck who am I" while Yosuke and two of the P3 cast is "why am I losing everyone, this sucks". It really ties in with the themes of the games what their problems are.
P4: Self conflict
P3: Accepting death/life
As to which group is more sad, I'd probably agree saying its the P3 cast but the problems in the Investigation Team aren't a walk in the park, either.

If I remember right, Fuuka was shy and nervous around people. She was bullied although I can't remember why (I think it was due to the rumors of her being sick). She had feelings of isolation from her classmates. When she did become friends with Natsumi, even though she was one of the students who bullied her (Natsumi doesn't remember anything about this due to the events that happened in the Tartarus). Later in the game, Natsumi had to transfer to a new school. She told Fuuka that she changed because of her and wants to find out what she wants in life. She hope Fuuka does the same before she leaves. During that time, her persona changes to Juno.

Her persona was related to her desire to connect/stay connected with her friends.

So I found this:

I'm actually all for Dante being a Shadow Operative, lol.

Hahaha oh gosh what's going on here? I see James on the left with yaoi proportions, some kind of slenderdolan thing, giant Volgin? Pretty much everything here is nightmare fuel.

I think yukiko could trigger memories for him since she looks similar. It'd be a good chance for shadow junpei to pop in.

Only if your name is Kanji, Elizabeth, or Labrys. Everyone else's is kind of dull.

Interesting.
Also, how great is the story in P4A? Keep hearing it's awesome
The story is really good if you played both P3 and P4. It's been a month and a half after the events of Persona 4, and you really feel like its an extended ending to Persona 4, with a little bit of Persona 3 added to the "wonder what everyone is doing?" aspect. I love the story mode. And the joke endings are really funny. I will warn you, it takes a while to get through all the dialogue and text before and between fights, so they're better suited for Persona fans. I still highly recommend it.

Quiet you.

How about a huge question?

Japanese or English voices?

I went with English because that was the same one I had for my playthrough of Persona 4. that and Labrys' accent is so cute!~

I can't speak to the quality of the broader Persona story outside of P4A, but the fighting game has an awful story. To call it derivative would almost be an insult to the word. It's banal to the point of absurdity. The writing... God, the writing hurts.

I'm starting to enjoy the gameplay itself, though. It's worth the $15 it now costs.

if you're referring to the arcade mode, its just watered down exponentially so people at arcades (mainly in japan) dont sit there for hours just trying to go through one character's story.

and you are being too hard on the story. I recommend playing the main games and seeing the story in them before you judge the story in P4A. Because you made it clear you don't know about the absurd storyline of the persona series where:

you fight hitler, a snowman calls you a ho, bear suits are sentient in a TV world, robot lines are developed to fight monsters in an hour that normal humans don't experience, you get stronger from character interactions, and you get crazy monster people that represent you as a person and get stronger and change form when you become super cool with the new guy who moved in earlier in the year and/or have a giant nosed man in a blue room with really soothing opera music put the cards around in a shape and sometimes fucks it up.

Don't forget all of the sexual overtones!

... Actually, DO forget Mara. With brain bleach.

Yukiko wants everyone to eat her box...

Yu dove in, but it was too much for him.

I bet I am not the only surprised by Abaddon the first time I saw him.

I found some gameplay of Junpei. It's not the best, but it shows some cool Junpei footage.

*TRISMEGISTUS!*

One of the coolest looking Personas, I swear. Now I see what all the hype was about Akihiko's new AC. That totally does look DBZish, AND I LOVE IT. Can't see what Teddie is doing over there on the right, but it looks like a new move. More hype. (love that Alice win pose he has)

Is that a Tartarus stage?

In the first few minutes, yeah, that's the starting room of Tartarus on the left, and Junes's food court on the right.

I like how they got Junpei's P3 pose as his idle. Only a few select other characters have their original game poses.

Maybe Tartarus is recreated in the TV world? Or the Eerie Voice and Malevolent Entity completed that test "Dark Hour simulator" shown in Mitsuru's story mode and pulled everyone into the Dark Hour for some reason (hope this is the case rather than more TV world, would like to see how P4 characters would react to summoning their Personas outside a TV).

What if theres a Tartatus in the TV world? It would mean the P4 cast wouldnt have to use evokers.

It means that they're gonna use glasses AND evokers.

"Yo dawg, I heard you like Persona so we put glasses in your gun so you can reach out to the truth while you burn my dread." *xzibit.jpg*

Since I'm here, I'll seize the moment to give Atlus and co. my most sincere gratitude for their diligence and really putting themselves out there for the European fans. Really guys, thanks! I could barely tell there was a difference between releases. t(-_-t)

PS: if they don't add Adachi and Nurse Cougar to the sequel/update then they must be idiots.

There was more footage of the lokitest, but it was taken down shortly after. Only that one seemed to be re uploaded. There is also a Junes stage as well with the whole Midnight Hour theme happening.
