Some meaning is lost on written text. I was joking when I mentioned the "white washing" (I hope that I could get that across). I hope the other people who also said it also were.

One of the cool things of the game are the palletes. You can have Black Filia, White Bela, Plant Parasoul, Albino Incestous Eliza, Red-Headed Latina Fukua (?)...

It would be silly to complain about fan artists doing the same.

This is not a palette change, this is the actual Fortune but with white skin.
Because some artists are so limited they'll never try anything new from what they usually do and that is lazyness.
I don't like the pic, but eh.

Yeah, it doesn't read as a palette change, more like the artist picked the wrong color. Or maybe they wanted the chalky pallor of Fortune freshly revived from being murdered and dumped in the river. Colors aside, the crazy anatomy ain't helping either.

I asked the artist about this piece on deviantART because I was actually curious about the skin color.

It's a really nice piece (I especially like the really subtle touches like the ribs), but the skin tone really throws me off. She's quite pale here compared to the darker brown tone Fortune has in the game. I know the majority of your work has very pale skinned girls, is that just your preferred skin palette for painting with?

There is pretty much no way to say the above without it sounding like I'm screaming "zomg racist!" when that's really not what I mean :/

oh yeah i know she should be a bit more tanned but when i got to this stage i felt like no matter what i do skin shading won't be better so i decided to left it like that, i think the back light is balancing it a bit, but I'm aware of differences

I never draw carbon copy fan arts anyway.

I just feel more freedom with lighter skin shade, it's bouncing more colors around than darker skin that's using it's own color, same reason i draw so many shiny materials

Brown comes in all kinds of flavors! Before Fortune's voice was cast, I actually used to imagine that she was like an Aborigine with a cool Aussie accent. That might have been neat, but I'm more than happy with how Kimlinh played it out.

But yeah, talking about that guy's artwork, of all the complicated things that he was able to pull of with the painting, digitally altering the skin color would have been one of the easier adjustments. Brown tones are also great for bringing out reflective light, so if that's something he likes to paint, then I think he should have tried it out.

I mean, if he just likes 'em pale, then whatever. But if he made her pale because he doesn't know how to paint a tan properly, then that just means he needs to practice more.

Brown comes in all kinds of flavors! Before Fortune's voice was cast, I actually used to imagine that she was like an Aborigine with a cool Aussie accent. That might have been neat, but I'm more than happy with how Kimlinh played it out.

I seem to recall an interview where Kimlinh said she actually did a take of or was asked to do Fortune with a more Latin accent, but they ended up going with what we have now.
