One Big Night! One Big Show! One Big Man! One Big Band! General Discussion

So Big Band has more notes

was I the only one who thought he was going to play this (specifically at 0:10)
or maybe sonic is just always on my mind sweet jesus im addicted

Grieg's "Hall of the Mountain King"? I'll let you gentlemen be the judges...

At first I thought I he was gonna play the Inspector Gadget theme...my head's all scrambled. :/

EDIT: so apparently Bizarro world took over and a video is available in Europe but not in the North American continent. Not even M. Night Shamallama would think of such a twist!
So here's a second link.

It's blocked in the states too.

It's similar but no I think that's Inspector Gadget's theme. Which means a Go Go Gadget palette is now a must for Big Band.

@DJAzure or anyone

Could someone do a quick movelist and short description on specials and supers? Like

Charge Back Forward any punch - Rush Punch
-HP version has X hits of armor

[whatever input] - Head Crush
- Hae a taunt stored to get ORAORAORAORA ender

I want to throw it into the first post here (or make a new thread and stick the beta changes he receives in there too)

Wheeee here's some text.

(Damage is at 1.0)

Charge B,F P - Brass Knuckles
He rushes and punches.
-LP has 1 hit of armor, can hit 1/2 screen away. 900 Damage.
-MP has 2 hits of armor, can hit 3/4 screen away. 1300 Damage.
-HP has 3 hits of armor, can hit at full screen. 1750 Damage.

Charge B,F K - Take The A Train
Big Band rushes forward and grabs upwards.
-All versions are unblockable while opponent is rising during jump.
-LK has 1 hit of armor, can hit 1/2 screen away. 900 Damage.
-MK has 2 hits of armor, can hit 3/4 screen away. 1350 Damage
-HK has 3 hits of armor, can hit at full screen. 1850 Damage.

F, D, DF P -> B, F, B, F... or LP, HP, LP, HP... - Beat Extend
Big Band extends tambourines which clamp together above him.
-All versions are hit invincible.
-Following up with B,F,B,F or LP,HP,LP,HP shakes the tambourines for extra hits.
-LP can be shaked for 4 more hits. 1095 Damage*.
-MP can be shaked for 9 more hits. 1734 Damage*.
-HP can be shaked for 12 more hits. 2082 Damage*.
*Damage assumes maximum shakage

D, DB, B K - Giant Step
Big Band slams the ground with an oversized bass pedal.
-All versions hit overhead.
-All versions only have hitboxes active when the pedal hits the ground. So no anti airing with this even if it looks like it could!
-LK hits half screen in front of Big Band. 650 Damage.
-MK range is the same as LP, but slightly slower. 800 Damage.
-HK significantly slower startup, and bass pedal has the same range. However there is a secondary shockwave attack which covers the whole floor in front of Big Band and knocks opponent down. 950 Damage, shockwave deals 0 Damage.
-Shockwave must be blocked low and has absolutely no blockstun. Like really the character doesn't even do their block animation.

(in air) D, DB, B K - Cymbal Clash
Big Band slams cymbals diagonally downwards from him in the air.
-All versions have a large amount of hit stun allowing an easy combo afterwards.
-If used twice in a combo opponent will drop out of combo. (Crouching HP counts towards this total as well)
-LK starts fastest, 1 hit. 700 Damage.
-MK starts slower than LP, 2 hits. 900 Damage.
-HK starts slowest, 3 hits. 1200 Damage.

D, DF, F PP - Super Sonic Jazz
Big Band turns into a French Horn and rushes forward.
-Big Band moves forward until hitting the opponent or the edge of the screen.
-Has 1 hit of armor.
-4200 Damage.
-If Bagpipe Blues has completed then Super Sonic Jazz powers up.
-Invincibility throughout the entire super.
-The ORARARARRARARARARA followup attack. Increases damage to 5673 Damage.

Hold KK down for around 3 seconds and release - Bagpipe Blues
Big Band plays some bagpipes woah.
-It's a taunt.
-Also powers up Super Sonic Jazz, taunt has to fully complete to power up.
-The taunt only powers up one use of Super Sonic Jazz.

Skullgirls confirmed canon to Fresh Prince

I'm curious if that only works for assist or if it can be applied to an entire character (I seriously doubt the latter, but I cherish the thought of
Bigger Band). Maybe it can be applied to assist victories/losses.

I think I'm going to have fun with this, or at least, I'm going to try to.

Figures, the day after I bait someone by playing the trumpet at 0 meter to get 1 meter JUST before he attacks and super him for the win, you can't get meter back with trumpet anymo'

If Big Band gets a level 5 being a trumpet thingy along these lines, the damage better not be based on the number of inputs. Quick cacophonic mashing would be way more efficient than an actual learned solo.

Anyone else wish ZA WARUDO was the song of time or another time based move?
Maybe there's a reference I'm not getting for the current tune.

Those of you who want to see Sturm Band in action, as well as his stupidly hard to input Solo Super Taunt, here it is!
Also Timpani Buster hits now that's nice.

Yeah they really need to either shorten the time it needs to charge the buttons or just go back to the old input of D,D + K because it's far too punishable in it's current state.

EDIT: Oh wait, you're talking about the trumpet thing. Nevermind.

So the hitbox of j.mk lasts only a short period and has no recovery frames. Fortunately, Big Band is pretty heavy and falls pretty fast. But if you double jump and throw it out there you're pretty free for a punish unless you cancel to cymbals or air super.

I'm the guy who made this animation: I assure you that didn't even know the existence of Uncle Phil xD
Well guy who made this animation, I assure you that feels not reals and headcanon = only canon

That said great work on it.

Big Band has a Sturm palette?

'rubs hands together evilly'

Most excellent.

I fully agree with YoYoCheese on this one, and I shall join him.
*Rubs hands menacingly and preps his meteor strikes*

Well I'll be. They actually did decide to keep the idea of him having missiles after all.

Sad that the two moves I wanted (War Tuba Cannons & Gong Slam) weren't chosen.

Turrets?!

Man...

I want to say something like "Big Band is the best character ever", but I know freaking Lab Zero will just make more characters with fantastic and awesome stuff.

I would have liked war Tuba cannons as well, but such is life. I'm Meh about his lvl3, but love everything else so overall BB is AWESOME!!!!!! - 1.

I have one really big gripe right now with BB, and that's taunts. If his taunt is starting to gain importance, why is it the motion it is? It's silly to have his taunt be the Turn Around Punch, since it takes up so much time to even get ready. I did hear of a forward charge -> back motion and I though that's probably much better than it is now, because as it stands, the Turn Around Punch taunt input is driving me crazy.

Any other input on his taunt?
