Skullbats EU PC

We got new champion, participation record and all that... And my week free has affected my level. I can say I got destroyed, but surely deserved it. :P

Still, great going as usual!

With Mr. Peck and Woofly (If they are attending), wouldn't that mean the number 3 spot exactly is what has opened?

People should learn how to counter GN4RK, Peck and Woofly instead of hoping they don't show up for a tournament. Otherwise, you'll never improve.

Don't worry Vlad it's all in good jest, I do enjoy my chances to play with them and see how the big boys do things and maybe even sometimes win every now and then.

#1: What about moving the start date 1h earlier?
#2: Thought on increasing the amount of rounds?

#1: Much better for people from EET (SBEU starts at 9 PM for me which is already pretty late, 10 PM for people in Finland or w/e which is *really* late)
#2: We used 5 rounds when we started doing SBats because we were generally 7-10 people and that fit. At 25 people, 5 rounds is just not cutting it if you want any meaningful results.

I had the bad luck of running into both LJ and MrPeck -which nobody else in the tournament did- which put me on 6th-13th place;
Eg shared with DxE who lost 3-0 to me and then later to you, winning against #17, #20, #27 - not exactly the same opposition.

Iunno if you care about either of these (I don't really, just tossing it out anyways); just suggestions if you want to be nicer to people (do we have someone from Finland? Iunno any of these guys) and the result table to be more meaningful.

It was a bad day alright (although Isa would've beaten me regardless)
 
I'm not even trying to state you're worse than me or bad or whatever, but in that tournament you just didn't do well at all -
And then somehow landed on the same rank as I did, when I would've had a /very/ hard time doing any better.

If you had won against Vlad, you would have played Peck in the 5th round (dunno if this would actually have happened, just an example),
lost there, and then landed on the same spot - making your result against Vlad rather meaningless overall.

The small amount of rounds with the high amount of players just results in a lot of luck-of-the-draw, end results with 10 way ties, and 'meaningless' wins for mid level players;

Have a bad day:
- Lose first two matches, then win next 2 against the bottom, go into 5th round with 2-2
Have a good day:
- Win first two matches, then lose next 2 against the very top, go into 5th round with 2-2
End result being no difference at all whether you do well or bad.

I could try starting the tournament 1 hour early next week, but I don't know what's a good amount of rounds for 18-25 entrants. 7? 8? How to calculate it?
 
Okay. We had 5 Rounds and each round was a Best 3 out of 5, because we only had around 10 players every week during PSN days. Now we have around 17-25 people each week. What if I increase the number of rounds from 5 to 7 and cut down matches to Best 2 out of 3 instead? Any other suggestions?

Hey vlad could you explain that again? I didn't quite get it, maybe my english is failing me. You want to change it to first to 2? Or first to 7? which is it?

First to 7 would be great, if that's what you're proposing.

There will be 7 rounds, instead of 5. In each round you have to win 2 times.

7 rounds and best 2 out of 3? I will not complain if that's the drill for the next tournaments. About the 1 hour earlier... depends on the day, but I wouldn't say no either.

As long as I don't embarrass myself like last week, it's enough. xD
 
I don't mind the shift in the starting time, but I'd prefer we stick to 3/5 if we stay under 8 rounds, and while I think 3/5 would be nice even beyond that, the time the whole thing takes would grow rather large.

5 rounds with Best 3 out of 5 already takes around 2 hours long.

So 7 rounds would take about 3 hours, which I'd be fine with, especially if we start earlier.
I'd come around anyway, no matter what you decide on doing.

Are we playing on beta again or are we back to the regular version?

10th tournament finished. This time we decided to change all matches to Best of 3, but also increase the amount of Rounds to 7 from 5 to accommodate a large amount of entrants we've been having lately.

I don't know. I somehow managed to finish 3rd, despite Challonge's Shuffle forcing me to sit out Round 1, and our Polish homeboy @Muro managed to end up in Top 5. The Challonge page does show a Clear Top 3 this time unlike the last one where it was confusing who took 3rd - RuRi or Peck?

I did PM Vadsamoht about it, but it wasn't fixed before the start.

Anyway, 11th tournament finished. We had 18 entrants and we started 1 hour early tonight.

Which EU Skullbats are you talking about? Also, Challonge probably uses a Median Buchholz system and Tie-Breaker scores are taken into account. In yesterday's tourney both Mr Peck and GN4RK had 7 wins and 1 loss, but Peck won by ONE tie breaker score.
