So I know a lot of people in the community, but sometimes I wonder just WHERE DAF~ some of you get your names! Like where the heck does "guitalex" or "duckator" come from...?? Cool names, but like where do they come from? It's not an introduction thread, but a thread explaining the origins behind the name you use to fight or on the forums. Whichever is the most notable for you. And this way we can in a sense get to know each other a little more :) I'll go first.

Sooo my name is Nuuance, aka Nuu. I got inspired to get it from Nu from Blazblue in calamity trigger and loved making people rage with the zoning character people hated. However, I didn't just wanna be "Nu" so I looked up wtf the Greek thingy meant. Basically it means great expanse...without end...etc. Then I thought about something unique & came up with nuuance because I always explain stuff way too much or put in every single detail because I don't want people to be confused. There's an extra 'U' because I explain stuff Sooo much there's an extra letter to compensate :) and of course my love for video games and fighting games Is without end so Nuu with an extra u works too!

Well I made a Tumblr and Spacewhale was taken so it annoyed me and now im evil

Karasai is a mix of the japanese name for Crow and well, a Sai

Dr. Sanity is actually the name of one of my characters, it's just my favorite one.

My name is ALWAYS available on every forum/page/mail .. so there's no need to make up an user name.
I know pretty uninspied explanation.

My name is Tom. I once tried to sign up for a website.

I tried Tomo... it did not work.

I thought, my birthday is on the 9th of the month.

I tried Tomo9... it did not work

I tried Tomo09... it did not work

I tried Tomo009...
.....

it worked

RetroStation has become my all-encompassing identity. Before, it was strictly my musical handle, which is the result of my genre of choice (Chiptune) and a play on the band Metro Station.

Before, I felt weird when people just called me "Retro", but given the old soul that I've become, I'm used to it. Actually kinda like it now :P

Well, PK stands for Psychokinesis and StoopKid is from the famous Stoop Kid of Hey Arnold who was afraid to leave his Stoop. I am a fan of Earthbound and I was already planning to be called Stoopkid.

I didn't choose my nickname, but it was broken down to me like this:

Da: My high school nickname was "Da Man"

Rabid: I have a fierce temper. Seriously, don't piss me off.

Duckie: Given to me after a love triangle that almost too closely resembled the movie Pretty in Pink, and because I also had a habit of wearing very unique sneakers like Duckie did.

I got WrestlerGuile from a character I'm developing: His middle name's Guile and he wrestles as his mechanic.
FASTERLANED was an experimental name for a Need For Speed game I was hoping to show EA, but I stopped caring for them.
EVoDRAgQUEEn is where I dream of dressing in drag while driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

i like elite beat agents, plus my name starts with J
(first one to guess gets a prize)

With the release of Project X Zone in America, most should know my name, based on my favorite character, if not well..

I've gone by original names in the past, but decided on this one because he always left an impression on me, praise to the weeaboo German samurai.

When I was a kid playing ffix, i accidentally erased Zidane's name and tried to retype it from memory. I got Zidiane. I was actually unaware of my error, and convinced for a long time it was his actual name (even today I think Zidiane, and get weirded out when people say Zidane). I loved the name, and use it for everything. Luckily its never been in use anywhere.

I typed in the first two things that came to mind; now here I am.

This is Armand from Shining soul 2, he is the 'dark spooky vampire blood kill sasuke mage', and when you're a kid who doesn't want to be a spooky vampire.
hqdefault.jpg

I was making fun of my friend who's handle started with 'Sk', all of my friends and I put 'Sk' in front of our handles for 3 or so days. For some reason I never changed mine back.
'Sk' + 'Armand' Here I am.

My original name was "Groucho" after Groucho Marx (who I'm a bit of a fan of). I asked a friend of mine (who's naming skills I liked) to come up with a name/title for me, and he just took the "Gro" and went from there.

I love how Grooktook is so unique, it's nothing BUT you on Google's first page.

The capital letters are the initials of my real name, and just added the other letters when I realized my initials sounds like an actual name itself. Originally came up with the name when I became a regular at my local FGC scene about 4-5 years ago.

Muro means "wall" in Spanish. But that's not it.

Muro is an aplication on DeviantArt. But that's not it.

Muro is a Japanese DJ. But that's not it.

Muro Town is a location in the Pokemon universe. And that's... not it either.

Bet you had to google it.

Actually did that research years ago. Handy whenever friends ask about my nick.

It's my first name.
I like my name, it short, and doesn't immediately seem like an actual name to a lot of people.
Sometimes I go by "Straight-Ebs," which my friends made up because I'm pretty straight-edge.

When I was first starting up my account on Skullheart, I quickly decided I wanted a name based on one of the characters that I wanted to win the character vote. Once I decided on Juju, I had to think of a way to show my support for the character without outright saying "vote for Juju in the character vote".

My brain immediately escalated the idea of "vote for Juju in the character vote" to "vote for Juju for president of the United States", and I decided on that. The underscores were done because I thought that, given the number of other forums' account names, they were more common than they actually were, so I did them instead of spaces or slashes or x's. In hindsight, I kind of wish I didn't use underscores, because several other websites do not allow you to use underscores in your username.

It all started back in the very clever days of ten years old when I needed to make an account for BF2. I needed some sort of cool kid way to show that I was a whizz at physics. Turns out physics isn't something I ever want to learn about in detail.

Fizz makes for a nice short name though.

I'm gross.

Seriously though I've gone by Icky for quite a few years now to pretty much all of my friends and such. I even have an ex girlfriend who called me Icky throughout our relationship. It's just what I go by

Finally a thread that I can actually enjoy.

Zen is my favorite word, both in sound and in meaning. I never use the same name across the internet, but I always make sure that my name includes the word Zen somewhere in it. This way I have plenty of options in case a name I want is taken while still maintaining my identity as Zen.

the story of my name:

one time, when I was reading Rurouni Kenshin manga, Sanosuke, my favorite character, deflected bullets from a battleship by punching seawater so hard, that, he a lage wave of water come up and absorb the bullets, then, he threw grenades at the ship, which caused it to catch on fire, and I thought to myself,
"man, that was cool. I'mma make that my username online" and so I did.

Sano - the shortened version of Sanosuke's name
and
blaze - the ship went ablaze when Sanosuke threw the grenades.

you now know where my name comes from, and I hate it when people think it's a reference to weed. cuz its not. I don't even smoke pot, or even like the idea of recreational drug use.

WELL, years and years ago I saw in some comment section a user named "bottle". And at the young age I was it really struck me, like wow, this dude is named bottle, that's so mundane an object that its humorous.
Or something like that.
Anyways, at the time I was signing up for a bunch of different online F2P flash games, and in each one I had a different username, and one time, inspired by this person named "bottle" I decided to similarly go with a mundane object, a container similar like a box or something. But just box was too simple, it wasn't humorous enough, so I added some juxtaposition by making the box mighty.
And I just kinda stuck with it.

Oh, that's interesting Den!

I can change that on here if you want.

----------

I use one of two names online if I'm not trying to be anonymous and it's not something I need to keep separate from my other IDs. The first one is Vadsamoht, which came about when I wanted to join an online poker website (I was only 16, but that didn't stop me) and the other name I was using at the time was taken (and that name is too embarrassing to repeat). This was at like 3AM or something so I wasn't feeling particularly creative, so I tried my school username which was made up of our full surname and the first three letters of our first name. That was taken as well so I reversed it and cackled with glee as it was accepted.

The other name I use is nice because it's short but also causes problems with minimum name lengths. I've been using this one since around the same time as Vadsamoht - I was looking for a name that I'd use to replace the aforementioned embarrass one and I was playing an emulated version of Tales of Phantasia at the same time. So I decided to use the name randomizer and just use the first somewhat acceptable name that it came up with. That's also why I spell it with unusual characters.
(EDIT: Had to remove the second name. Sorry.)

Side Note: I am the only person online using the name Vadsamoht, so if you see the name it's definitely me. The one exception to this is a post on some porn website.

I should also mention that my nickname in high school was Killer K.
Call me Den one more time and you'll find out why I was called that.

I killed a man, and only too late did I realize that it was the Guardian himself, he of the sacred pact.

You see, I had no idea. I'd simply come to blows with him at a Radiohead concert, and then he tells me right before he dies that I must now take up the vigil he had held for so many years. The responsibility, nay, the duty of holding back the Night Fire. Without a protector, our world would fall within a single day.

And then I just change the spelling on Fire -> Phyre because the first one's always taken.

I like magic related things; Mages, Witch, Spellcasters etc.
I'm also i big Siouxsie fanboy
