So, since Fukua's just come out, people are already wondering who to pair her with. So here's the thread for that. Just Fuul free to ask question, answer questions, offer synergy combos, and offer your pair ups, and whatever else you do in assist threads.

My current team-Painwheel, Filia, Parasoul.
I'm really thinking about keeping Painwheel, but who should I replace?
My Filia is a bit unpredictable but I'm very good with resets when using her.
My Parasoul isn't so good with resets, but she has a decent combo.
Fukua actually seems to serve both needs of reset value and combo value.

Was about to respond to you in the other thread, but I guess your post moved here, instead.

If your Parasoul isn't good with resets, I'd recommend dropping her for Fukua.
(or learn some Parasoul resets because some of them are pretty great)

Kind of up to you.
As far as assists go, parasoul/filia can and will fulfill the same role through an invincible DP assist. So it's really just down to which one you like playing more.

Its really early to decide but I feel like Fukua is a better anchor than either Parasoul or Filia. As for witch character to drop I would suggest dropping Parasoul because PW/Filia/Fukua sounds like a stronger team than PW/Parasoul/Fukua. But if you really want to play Parasoul then you should play Parasoul/PW/Fukua. Parasoul point is much better than Parasoul second or anchor.

Moving on Fukua's zoning potential with mk bomber is surprisingly good. You can even covert off of a full screen air projectile if you're fast enough.

back to this.

most people use drill (i need it for teh fortune!)

however there are uses for shadows. mainly for people like runaway peacock. most of the time peacock is grounded. so use either shadow M or shadow L

if either of them hit you got choices like with fortune

A)C lk into stuff
B) j mp into stuff

with filia.....its easy with L. With m you can either...

A) j mp > hairball H > j mp >j hp whiff(fast fall) into vortex.
B) j hp > j lk > j hk > c lk > s hp > iad Jlk for burst bait and cross under purposes
C) j hp > j lk > j hk >c lk > s hp > insta j mp for max height> airball H> adc > j hp for a burst bait.
D) j lk > adc j lp > jlk > dash under.

squigs.....you can just do stuff with either. depending on distance you can silver chord if you use L if you think c lk or c mk won't do you justice.

So, what's the best assist for fukua?

her as an assist, I mean...

- H.Drill is the obvious candidate as armorbreak/lockdown/invincible, but moves really fast, can be low profiled, and has no vertical reach, meaning it's quite bad at controlling space.
- M.Shadow is exceptional space control, but difficult to combo out of and has less use on offence in general
- L.Shadow is much worse at controlling space than H, but goes a bit farther, breaks armor, hits fortune head, and is a low = easy mixups (Jumpin + Assistcall = 50/50) plus of course really damn easy to combo out of.
- L.Lovedart is similar to LK.George, certainly a usable assist though I'm not sure how good.
- M./H.Lovedart are candidates which I don't really dig; IMO M moves too fast to really control space (compared to eg LK.George) while H still comes out at an unfavourable angle (compared to eg HK.George)
- H.Shadow is L except worse in every aspect
- French Twist (c.MK) is .. meh. It's not very impressive on Filia, and it's worse here.

IMO it comes down to H.Drill vs M.Shadow depending on what you want for your point / what other assist you got, with L.Shadow being a bit more gimmicky but still a notable contender.
The rest I'm not very impressed by; Peacock can do some dumb things with H.Lovedart and that's pretty much it; L.Lovedart may have a future if you control airspace nicely by other means (eg with a DP assist).

yeah, thanks for the analysis

currently doing squigly/fukua/waiting on eliza (fortune for now)

despite squigly being on point, would anyone have a suggestions for an assist of hers that would help fukua? duckator suggested that I use her cr.HP instead of center stage.

Tried L Lovedart then?

you're stuck with either...cr hp. ........actually just cr hp cause fukua will have a hard time opening in. so c hp will help lots

hrmm, I see. well how bout the other way around...if anybody has a suggestion for fukua assist to help squigly =)

for squigly.......

well for one squigly needs a charge and really shouldn't run on point but there peepz that do that let's think about it.

if what you're saying is what i understand then you're running duo.......

here's the setup

run either this

squigs c hp

fukua shadow M or shadow L.

why? simple.

like i said above squigs needs a charge...but she needs coverage? how do we achieve this? shadow M

shadow M controls space, if it catches you can run up and just j mk > j hk > M dive kick > combo.

if they block it....you can have ENOUGH time to charge. since you're running this team you're playing a very very very patient play style. IF you try to run Drill H.......consider fukua dead unless you intend on covering her with a low j hp and also you don't get time to charge :(

Peacock can do some dumb things with H.Lovedart and that's pretty much it.
As someone who uses exactly this, I really only recommend it for Peacock and no one else, and even then I feel it only works if Fukua is running second in a team with brass/extend/bomber/updo/pillar to help Peacock create the space she needs for H Love Dart to work into her projectile rotation.

Luckily, those assists pay dividends for Fukua as well (I'm a little in love with Fukua+Brass, myself), so I feel like that's far and a way the best place to use her in a trio.

who uses L dart? i mean it could control space but....really no one fears l dart....like......i dunno

Ground L Dart is a healthy addition to Fukua's projectile games. Use it to mix up your projectile timings on the ground, and once it's out it stays on the screen for a bit - perfect time to reposition, cover the airspace above it or call in a shadow.

Guys just pair her with Double :V

No really, she can confirm from more than half screen away with bomber + mk clone, as well as mixup clones from a relatively safe distance away.

we're talking about assist not point.
if on point then yes use L dart AT times. it too situation-dependent. for my liking.

about covering air space for it....no smart player is going to jump to dodge unless chip and even they do jump they should jump backwards and even IF they jump fowards....they should block. its just a move that's just not well made when M dart makes peepz jump and H dart makes peepz jump.

you don't like squigly on point? almost everyone ive talked to from the Chicago scene recommends her for my point character...does she really surpass as an assist over being on point? or at least enough to put fukua on point...? cause i was DEFINITELY suggested to not put fukua on point by my peers (its hard to ignore duckator's suggestions lol)

but nah, no duo. I used to run squigly/bella/fortune. but now im waiting on eliza...so to keep me adjusted to the trio damage/health im keeping fortune anchor with squigly/fukua up top until eliza gets released.

The topic is about teams with Fukua, why shouldn't I comment about assists that work well for Fukua?

In regards to the blocking thing. You forget that SG players have a natural fear of this "blocking" concept.

Squigly is ok on point, but she's the biggest threat when she actually has meter to spend. Fukua is honestly good in whatever position you want her to be, she's definitely a solid point character.

Tried L Lovedart then?
I didn't up till now, no. Or rather: I did, but only before the assist change.
It's similar to L.George; moves a bit faster but is harder to jump over.
I don't think it's stellar, but certainly usable.

fukua seems pretty solid, i'm going to try running her second on a parasoul/fukua/double team, with pillar/m.clone/lk butt for the assists.

just need to figure out how to confirm off of m.clone w/ parasoul. so far j.mk j.hk into groundstring is the only one that I've found works so far

J.lp > j.hp should do just fine for your conversion, but I prefer fukua on point with that team.

ok i figured out how to convert into a combo that fit my current resets, it was actually pretty easy I was just being dumb.

also I have parasoul on point because she's better at building meter than spending it, and my parasoul is much better than my fukua.

also @RemiKz, are you saying she can convert off of m.clone assist with hk bomber, or that a fullscreen hk bomber can be converted off of with m.clone assist?

Haven't tried HK bomber but if I just throw out a MK bomber and it happens to hit, I can usually react to it and throw out a MK clone and convert off it pretty easily with a dash jump j.HK

oh okay, that makes sense. i was trying to convert off of a m.clone assist hit WITH the bomber and it wasn't working, and i thought i was missing something since i just picked up double

Couple of other considerations - though my other characters are Bella, Band, and/or Squigly:

Platonic Drillationship H - Found a neat use when matching Bella vs. Para. If I'm fishing to punish j.HP abusers with Bella's air throw, I can elbow drop and immediately call this assist to restand them, then dash in and get a modest 5K, 1 meter combo.

Inevitable Snuggle (tatsu command grab) - defensive reversal against rushdown, or keeping blockstring pressure safe, and get follow-up combo (also, Cerebella poke + call this assist + anti-air grab shenanigans?)

I discussed it already but I'm still a bit puzzled, I'm playing Fortune/Fukua/Cerebella, I considered playing it in other orders, and I have a hard time choosing assists.

For the order I'm gonna stick to it for now, I feel better with Fortune on point, I love Fukua DHC possibilities. And Bella as anchor is fine by me.

For fortune I don't see any assist other than H.Fiber, any idea of what could be of use for Fukua?

Cerebella Has too much to offer although, I'd like to run H LnL for defensive purposes, but Copter with Fortune is just too good, and isn't bad for Fukua! In case of DHC's I still have MF Fiber as invincible assist. But I even wondered running a command throw but LnL/Copter are too good imo.
I'm not sure Fukua 'needs' LnL, any input from players running Bella and who tested both options?

As for Fukua I wonder whether H Drill or LK/MK Shadows are the best option.
Drill's good. Invincible restand, keep in check and best AC's.
LK Shadow give stupid reset options, and longer range projectile. Plus pushing the head.
MK Shadow good projectile for zoning and punishing projectiles while being safe.

I feel like LnL is best for Fukua, but copter is better for Fortune. Also since fortune is the point character and is more likely to die it'd be smart to give fukua an assist that she benefits from when you only have 2 characters.

Okay yeah copter is pretty great. So I guess pick copter for mixups and LnL for neutral. That's how I would do it anyway, but that's just like my opinion.

I was wondering if anyone plays Fukua with Squigly second? Just want to know the boards imput on possible assists. Right I am running Silver Cord and Celecopter.

I'll give lock n load a shot and see how I like it. Can you give a little insight on squigly's c.hp useage.

You jump at the opponent and call it.
Now they are in a high/low mixup (whether your jumpin or the low assist will connect first).
On hit you get super easy converts, on block they're now locked down and you can do whatever.

Can also randomly call it midscreen because it has a godlike hitbox, but probably nothing you're gonna do with LnL ready.

i used fukua/squigly for testing.....its a.....very patient team. certainly not a rushdown type of team. its very good as both had DHC that are safe.

Very interesting. I should of figured as much without having much horizontal movement. I was running painwheel on point for a bit so I can dig being slow. If anything ill switch back to Filia but I am jiving with Fukua; probably rock this team for awhile.

the only problem with that team is that its hard to open people up. either character on point has the tools but one needs a really good assist so you might as well run squigs(DNB) and fukua drill if you run squigs on point and vice versa

I am pretty set on Fukua on point. Even though Squigs is by far my best character I just don't like running her point. I am not married to Celebella anchor but I wasn't a fan of her in any other spot due to her DHC with fukua

Which is a better assist?

Love Dart(L) or Platonic Drilataionship (H)?
