Also challenger approaching screen is weak compared to Melee and Brawl IMO.

Based on how quickly these were unlocked I think it's pretty obvious:
Ness-Beat Classic Mode
Falco-Beat 100-Man Melee

Other guesses:
Dr Mario-Beat Classic with Mario on Intensity 5 or higher
Lucina-Beat Classic with Marth, or Marth, Ike, and Robin.

Maybe the actual criteria is beat Classic as Fox?
