Eliza SPOILERS - Eliza Story Mode Discussion

Thus Marie came back, because no one made a wish and therefore did not create a new host.
Still sticking to the idea that Marie was possessed. I mean, if there's anything we learned from this story is that the Skullheart is hardwired with more instructions than "coax a girl into making a wish", namely "sound the alarm if Neferu is within sight". The Trinity have their little toy but will immediately bend the rules if personal matters surface.
And again, Marie has enough self-control to not go Kaiju Wars in the middle of New Meridian.

Many theories:

1-Double is a manifestation of Lamia. They share the same soul.

2-Double is a clone of Lamia in every aspect but power and function. She is aware of this.

3-Double is a servant created by Lamia which can be possessed by her.

Toss more...
1+3 - Double is a servant of Lamia and they share a psychic bond (probably from Double being made from Lamia's flesh). Either Double is "attuned" to Lamia's psyche which leads her to act as Lamia would in certain situations or Lamia can take over Double (this possession is likely temporary because of whatever Neferu did to banish her from the physical realm).
I'd compare them to the deal Ameno-sagiri and Izanami with direct control perks. :3

to err is human.
HERRARE UMANUM EST

Let's all not forget that this trope exists. Which I'm pretty sure almost every character in skullgirls is trying to do one way or another (except Cera and maybe Painwheel)

There's always the possibility that they are writing the story as they go along.

That's because they are, until Alex finds a canon he likes. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Alex as the backstory set in stone but not really spilling the beans just yet. In just for people in the dark that might not know.

I'd say you're kinda right, my idea is since the trinity does have a vendetta against her they would pull a stunt like this. however Marie if given that opportunity to have a giant monster probably wouldn't immediately go after Eliza (not with medici's literally right behind her)

So what they might of did was Aeon pulled an alternate universe Marie, one who still ends up as the skullgirl but less resistant and more obedient.

I have a feeling that Double is actually Lamia and that, along with her, Venus, Aeon and the Skull Heart are all part of the same entity.

You know, I've been thinking and in addition to your idea, I think maybe in a last ditch effort to survive whatever Eliza did, Lamia, barley tethered to this world, absorbed the biomass of various corpses within the kingdom and is made up of them, plus, Aeon and Venus. I remember in another thread we were speculating about Double and I just couldn't stop focusing on the faces that looked like they were in peril and anguish. Maybe Lamia only remains, but her vessel on earth is this horrid abominable thing. For a trinity of stylish ladies, they sure made a gross mass of flesh by way of Double--makes me think this was a "the only way" type of scenario. Aaaah, I love speculation!

Every single statue in Gehenna is missing it's head. Almost as if Gehenna erases one's identity. Or maybe something else that resides there.

This pretty much takes the cake :PUN: !

Fortune you better get used to serve to the queen ^^

And if she doesn't I'm sure that new outfit she's sporting can make her obedient, from the neck down at least. <3

Let me know if I'm overdoing the whole nightmare fetish thing.

?
I should clarify I'm referring to when I said that Alex is pretty much making things for the canon (right now non canon story lines) until can think of a official canon he is happy with (though he is probably close if not basically there by now [considering the push for Umbrella Marie and Dahlia for story reasons]).

Shutouts to Ghenna for out Fetus of God`ing Fetus of God.

10/10 sincerely 2creepy4tournamentplay.

I'm frightened that if I stay on that stage too long one of those black things in the foreground will pop out and I'll break my tv, run out my house, buy a plane ticket to whoever thought that shit was cute and kick their leg in a direction it shouldn't bend.

Now on a more serious topic, only thing that kind of upsets me in that story mode is how they didn't change Eliza's pallet to #7 (Story mode one - Bloody Eliza) on the Battle with Double. That would make the whole Gehenna surprise even better.

... and seriously, think about it, a tiny coffin with a lil'Squigly popping out of it like a Cuckoo saying "it's time" and stuff...

Joking aside, I'm really really wishing that we could have an emergency fundraising, because after the ending, I really am curious about Marie now. Is it sheer force of will that brought her back? Is Lamia pulling out all the stops, did Samson and Levithan make a Xanatos gambit and make arrangements with other forces before the final battle and Marie is the contingency? Aaaah, so many questions!

It kind of makes me wish they didn't do the vote and just finished off the canon characters.

Just having a gawk at the story art again. That statue in the cathedral is looking a lot more literal than I had previously thought.

I'm gonna go with the theory that says that Double is Lamia or some sort of remnants of her. It just makes sense to me. Although it does keep the question of Aeon and Venus' appearance in Double's ending hanging there.

I thought they would do that as well once you see her emerge from the pool. Gotta use those alternate palettes for more than versus IMHO.

That image of Eliza really bothers me. Her face doesn't line up with the back of her head.
The back of her head just isn't on straight. It's bound to happen every once in a while.

according to what we already know venus sees double as a maid or butler and Lamia is their mother. general assumption is they are two different entities
though it's not impossible I mean Lamia is missing a chunk of flesh from her face and Double is just a bunch of flesh and Double can communicate with Lamia via some sorta mind link. Lamia is able as seen from storymode talk through double so it is not too far'fetched to say double is an extension of Lamia so ya they could be

I actually get the feeling that maybe she was supposed to do that. Maybe there was some issue with it. No other story mode has the player character switch costumes. Only Double has a specific palette when you fight her as Cerebella I think.

EDIT: Actually, looking through the ini files, there's a thing that can be used to decide what color the player character is. I wonder why it wasn't used for that battle? It's a shame it's in one of the protected files or I'd change it myself.

@Zidiane chances are Eliza fucking bodied a while kingdom trying to be number one, screwed up and BAM Gehenna.

The Venus Aeon and Mother we see are outside of that dimension.

Eliza killed off their physical bodies and now the trio has no choice but to live in OUTER HEAVEN and rely on the Double, who is a shadow of their mother and the Skullheart to accomplish their goals.

Which are probably the same goals from forever ago, true godhood.

Ascending true god status probably takes.

True symbiosis with a parasite: Sehkmet and Eliza are pretty close, Venus's teeth maybe her parasite, same with Aeon's hourlgass. While Samson is only on Filia's head and Leviathan is only really in Squig's skull.

Maybe the physically closer a parasite and you are helps/couples with your power?

Living weapons maybe Parasites humankind wanted to control, so instead of doing the whole "binding to this one person 'till death" thing, humankind figured out how to make a less powerful version of such without the drawbacks?

Weakened Parasite + Some sore of seal = Living Weapon?

Parasite + Proper host= Theon?

Or maybe even Theon=Very strong and special human or maybe even a different species?

Theon - power=Parasite=Weakened state of a Theon?

Something that I think I brought up but will again: Before Eliza was able to escape to Gehenna and become nigh unstoppable, Double cut her and Eliza didn't heal. Is Double the key to Eliza's defeat?

Is Double the key to Eliza's defeat?
Nah Double just straight up ripped her arm off, that includes Sekhmet's arm which isn't made of blood.
Double just did some serious damage is all, Eliza's tough but she can be killed.

I think the problem here is that a lot of people are assuming that the "god" characters are invincible or unbeatable without some macguffin.

I'm pretty sure they're just humans or something that are absurdly strong or have gotten that way over the millennia of lives they've lived.

Yeah, I don't really follow the outright god status everyone is attributing to these characters.
Eliza was considered a god at one point and can do some crazy shit like her blood kaiju at the end, but we know she's just a woman with a parasite. I imagine Lamia, Aeon and Venus are the same.

She didn't have anyway to heal right away. She needed more blood to do that. She probably could have prevented the damage but it caught her off guard obviously.

I'm telling you it's all this anime, it's raising people think that they need some special power or legendary weapon to conquer overwhelming adversity. All you need is determination and a good pair of arms and you can do anything.

Yeah, Eliza and Sekhmet are powerful but not invincible. The goddesses I think are similar. Really powerful and to a mortal unstoppable/invincible, but to another powerful being not so much. Which is why Eliza killing Venus and Aeon doesn't seem so far fetched for me.

That's fair, every character in the game bar Beowulf has a weapon that's tied to the story in some shape.

The lab guys were made to fight the SG.
Bella/Para hold living weapons ,which Eliza's story is implying to be something a little deeper that originally thought.
Fortune is literally unkillable, and the Skullgirl is a necromancer.
The rest have parasites or are made up of some weird otherworldly power like Double.

In some JRPGs and animes, you kill god with the power of friendship.
Everyone needs to be friends with each other :3

Somewhat of topic; Only slightly checking this threat, looks promising. C'mon MS (or whoever make XBLA updates), want that Eliza update (Xbox)!

Um about the Gehenna stage. You know the voices that pop in?What if the voices are that of Venus and Aeon?

Eliza does imply that humans created myths and legends about gods and monsters to explain what they couldn't understand and to inflate their own importance in the world. Also one of the things she hates on her character sheet is human arrogance and prejudice against parasites. Consider that Eliza was once a powerful ruler in the ancient world and is more or less being blackmailed by the Medicis to do their bidding, since they know her secret.

It would seem that in addition to her desire to restore herself to a position of rulership, she's also motivated by a desire to turn the table on humans. This might also indicate why she surrounds herself with ferals, since they are also discriminated against.

I dunno about that. Cerebella was the first to die.
That was a good one Cellsai, it took me a second but I got it.

"Double is a 'shadow' of the big bad, Lamia. This particular headpiece is from XXXXX's distinctive crown shape."
Personally I kind of think the XXXXX is actually just covering up the word 'Lamia' too and LZ either forgot to censor the first instance of Lamia or deliberately did it this way to mess with us. The word 'Lamia' fits exactly into that box.
There was a crackpot theory a while ago about how Double is somehow related to Queen Nancy Renoir due to the similar shape of the crowns they wore.
Now "Lamia" DOES fit perfectly in the censored box, but you have to wonder...Nancy?

I thought it was already agreed on that she was kind of sloppily copying Nancy's crown design for some lore reason that hasn't been explained?

Maybe every skullgirl that has died is assimilated into Double for.........Stuff? And since Nancy was the last, Double has her crown?
