Eliza SPOILERS - Eliza Story Mode Discussion

Eliza's story takes place soon after Squigly's begins, right? Her first fight is with Squigly, who had just fought Parasoul, which is when Marie threw the tower at Lorenzo, right?
...So Lorenzo returned to New Meridian and Marie left, apparently.

Or Marie simply didn't manage to break the tower, because of Parasoul's army, or because she was fighting in another place, etc.

I just want to begin this post by saying that my problem with Eliza's story has nothing to do with the quality of the yarn. It is quite decently spun and has to be one of the most detailed and information rich stories in the game, however....

This just comes down to a personal preference of mine but I've never really cared for the whole "Evil Triumphant" thing and Eliza's story rocks that hard-core The iconography of complete and other domination and degradation that is on display in her story is quite frankly unsettling to the point I was ACTUALLY sick to my stomach.

I must admit that it a commendable achievement as this story conjures up some very powerful emotions, at least for me, but as I've always said to my friends privately "Skullgirls" as a game seems to do a good job building up an affinity for these characters only to have them crushed by one of the most nihilistic universes in the gaming world. No more so do I feel that statement rings true than playing through Eliza's story, and I can only hope that Beowulf's story will offer us some kind of reprieve from the utterly soul crushing experience that is Eliza's.

Well Fortune's thing isn't that she lives forever, her thing is that she keeps on living despite any bodily injury.
That's something that Eliza doesn't have, which is arguably far more useful than a drinking fountain.
I'm not sure, I mean Lorenzo is ancient and doesn't seem to have been physically harmed, but he uses to Life Gem to keep him from dying from old age (and maybe possibly some sickness, cause those green things on his face are freakin' gross.)
But I also agree with you, Eliza does seem like a collector, not as much as Aeon, but definitely to a degree.

@James Stika
Eliza's story mode was like the first time I've viewed Filia as the true hero of Skullgirls. Eliza shit talked her in the same way that a lot of the fanbase does and said she wasn't important and she wasn't strong, and Filia was like "I'll prove you wrong and save the world!" I always liked Filia, but in Eliza's story mode I was rooting for her so hard. I'd love to playout the Eliza vs. Filia thing AS Filia.
Then again Eliza's story mode managed to make me root for Double so it's probably just Eliza that incites that feeling of "Go other guy! Save the world!" No matter who that other guy is.

I wonder how high does Marie rate her chances at the end there?
History lesson:

-past
Lamia presumably fights Eliza. Eliza kills her whole family.
-present day
Leviathan fights Eliza. Loses and claims he'll stop her.
Samson fights Eliza. Loses and claims he'll stop her.
Marie fights Eliza. Gets killed.

Lamia/Double comes for a rematch. Eliza kills her and the Skull Heart.
Leviathan AND Samson fight Eliza again. Beats both of them into submission at the same time.
Marie challenges Eliza in her Megazord. ????

Rematches... they uh, don't tend to work out too well.

Wait, I thought Eliza was the villain? Shouldn't she be mega monster and someone else be the megazord?

I am mad at the fact that squigly is the "skullgirl alarm clock", but Eliza...

What is it about Handsome Jack that makes me want to unload a Vladof assault rifle in his face?
Because, no matter where you are, what you see, what you read... you can hear that smug-ass voice of his mocking you.

But, I'm gonna say something I never thought I'd say in my lifetime and something I pray I never have to say again:

I agree with Handsome Jack.

Yeah, I agree with him too. Doesn't make me want to shoot him any less, though.

I must commend you for saying that a story was well told even though you didn't like it.

I, instead, am a total sucker for bad endings and a kill'em all now and then. It gives people a better sense of what is evil, besides being a thing that always lose which is a dangerous mind setting.

Also playing as M. Bison, winning the game and then the story saying: "Psych, no one is dead, he hasn't won anything." is cheap and lame.

And I am a total sucker for evil endings now and then.

Nice point on Filia.

I just hope this doesn't end with that cheap solution of: "Let's all be friends against the biggest jerk."

This happened in the Hobbit. People humans and dwarves were arguing about Smaug's treasure then the orcs conveniently appeared to make them BFFs.

Yeah, that may be a metaphore of civilization fighting against barbaric supergreed, but still was a lot of plot convenience.

I hope Skullgirls still goes as a conflict of many individuals and groups instead of becoming binary.

Heresy sure is growing strong as of late. Oujo-sama gets things done and has fun doing them. Deal with it. :P

This so very much. It's obnoxiously over-used and usually as a excuse to erase previous inimical statuses so that after the Big Bad (not you, Mr Birdland) is beaten, the story settles in complete stagnation.
And if it ever gets to that point in storytelling, another thing I hope Alex avoids completely is the "villain behind the villain" plot device. It's horrible, overused and all it does is mellow down the characters. I don't want the prologue of Skullgirls 3 to be "Eliza was actually being controlled by Aeon and Venus" or some crap like that.

And I am a total sucker for evil endings now and then.

*Berserk panel*
Berserk had the most evil of all endings. Author got brainwashed by a girly dance game that made him turn the story in some Carebears power of friendship hippie crap. Heck! I don't know if I even want Miura to finish it. :|

Ah, but there is precedent for such an event even in the Skullgirls world. You may re-call that it was the combined efforts of both the Canopy Kingdom and the Medici's that brought down Queen Nancy when she became the Skullgirl. We can be fairly assured that the Canopy Kingdom will not be content to sit and watch Eliza go all kaiju on New Meredian without offering up some form of team up.

True, true.

But that wasn't the ending, only of the anime. And I doubt that even if the protagonists win that it will be a 100% happy ending simply because a lot of people had the worse ending before that.

Not only the Eclipse, but also the Tower of Conviction (an arc that was the real spirit of the manga), everything that happens in relation to the apostles, Ganishka...

Also, did you see what happened in the last chapter?

I just hope they resume their war after killing the Kaiju instead of joining hands.

They will, it's the Skullgirls universe after all. Rest assured that after the defeat of Mega-Maid and that Thing the world will be back to "normal" and the cycle of endless torment and struggle will be continued yet again.

It's too bad the Skullheart can't be used like the dragon balls, then they could wish for Bella back :C

Actually, it can. But she will be just a zombified form of her.

See unused Ms. Fortune ending.

Dude...Ebola! Not cool!

Point taken, though I meant no offense by it.

Calm down, if Squigly is a cute zombie, so can Bella.
Yeah but the Skullheart is a dick, it doesn't default to cute. I assume the only reason Squigly is not a shambling ghoul is because she is connected to Leviathan

(Vice-Versa's face changes expressions, perhaps only mirroring Cerebella's moods).
Actually, Vice Versa's face makes expressions occasionally without Cerebella making any. He'll sometimes express pain when she's using him for attacks.
After spinning his wrist for one of her attacks.

And of course, her time out animation. In this animation, Vice Versa has his normal expression, as Cerebella is making that face, and he only gets the cross-eyes after he hits the ground.

you guys took very good guesses of who are Canon a couple of mins ago on the

skullgirls Twitter they confirmed the 3 characters to make the true ending to skullgirls

@Skullgirls are you going to ever reveal the true story?

.@DhetSmartdude We’d love to do the canon story, but currently we don’t have the money to make the three essential characters it needs.

@skullvania The Essential Three for canon story mode are Umbrella, Black Dahlia and Marie.

.@Honeymoons_Over That’s the hope? But, for now, we need to find other work while we wait on PS4/Vita sales to accumulate. (1)

.@Honeymoons_Over We can’t just do three more characters and the canon story, though - we’d need a full SG2 with real salaries, etc. (2)

.@NAFEDUDE @Honeymoons_Over Pretty much! And it needs a budget able to support full salaries, not the less-than-half we’re getting now.

i couldn't find the other Tweet they said they don't want to take any fans money anymore there talking about the indlegogo

there relaying on PS Vita and PS4 sales which will be physical copies

Played Eliza's story mode without spoiling the story for myself like I always do.

Holy hell, maybe I should've: I was gobsmacked when Bella got killed.

Little facts I forgot to point out (all which is obvious to some and not to others)

Theology is the study of concepts of God religious truths and ect
Theo is latin for Divine or God in some cases
Which is where Mono (one) Theisim and Poly (multiple) theisim come from edit: hence monopoly meaning one owning multiple
Theos is another name for God
The "parasites" are called Theons
And we know they bestowed us with their power.

Edit: "nite" is a suffix used in naming minerals
Theo nite, the crystal Isaac has would in turn be a divine mineral with obvious Theon like abilities such as time ( which Aeon can perform aswell though issac's smarts may be why said ability to time time travel may be possible )

It seems the parasites are divine beings ruled by Lamia (which could explain why Aeon and Venus could be killed by Eliza or Sekhmet more or less) Eliza probably lived in a squalor and despised her living situation during a period of turmoil, Lamia blessed man with the power of her people and while it's obvious some Parasites were okay with this (Samson happy with Delilah Levi's sense of duty) Sekhmet despised man but found interest in Eliza's ideals the two merged. At this point I think Sekhmet runs the show though Sekhmet and Eliza both desire the grander things in life.

As a side note I should put this in a certain thread as well

Old info. Unless this is final confirmation that Skullgirls ends with Robo-Fortune.

Sad... Beowulf is gonna suck and I hold a faint hope that Alex will jump out one day and say. "Haha! Just kidding! Beowulf was a practical joke! Check all this work we've been secretly doing for Marie!"

I think the Theons are a reference to the word "Pantheon", the Greco-Roman gods. A group of powerful parasite-host pairs were basically worshipped as the gods of the pre-Trinitist Skullgirls universe. I don't think all Parasites were considered Theons, just some of them, given that Parasites can vary greatly in term of power and abilities.

I speculate that the event involving Nefaru that left the Trinity and Delilah dead basically put an end to the Theons and gave rise to the Trinity religion. Keep in mind that the Trinity religion is a parallel to the Christian religion in our world, whose most important event is the death and resurrection of its god.

Can't lie I wanted to add more to my statement such as talking about Pantheon and how the civilization was a Greek/ Egypt type setting...but I was too sick to write this so I abridged my thoughts, but i agree with what you're saying. It's funny how you speculate Neferu was the cause of something she hates (trinity)
P.s. @render I see you peeping the thread lol

how is this old news? i got this from there Twitter that they were tweeting like crazy yesterday answering fans questions and

about Beowulf just because robo fortune is the last dlc character for now does not mean Beowulf is a joke he will be epic!!

It's old news in the sense that we already knew this stuff and the people on twitter tend to ask the same questions repeatedly
