I suppose that's true, the gameplay just seems to get more and more promising. That actually makes me pretty happy. I think I can go into this more enthusiastically now.
I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind skipping over flaws if there's something worth experiencing in a game. I'll play a game with shitty story/music/aesthetics if the gameplay is really great, and I'll play a game with mediocre gameplay if the story/aesthetic/music is really good (assuming playing it is necessary to experiencing the story properly, otherwise I'd just watch a longplay on Youtube).
If the supports and characters are mostly well written and the overall plot is fine, I don't mind just ignoring the parts that are stupid. Gameplay being good is kind of a given. Kind of a shame their adding something dumb to an otherwise good experience, but eh, whatcha gonna do.
Okay, look, I know the gay marriage thing is a step in the right direction, but holy shit these character choices were TERRIBLE.

This is NOT how you introduce different sexualities into a game series people.
The ironic thing is I was just talking about the same sex marriage options the other day with a good friend of mine who is gay. He was pretty excited about the option being there and hope that the character would be a "nice boy who would be kind to his character", much like what everyone would want in any relationship (real or in game). He didn't want someone abusive or an asshole. I feel really bad for him that he is getting the exact opposite of what he wants (or like I said, like anyone would really want).
Back on topic, this will probably be one of those games where I will do multiple runs back to back. I'm going with Hoshido first, Nohr, then neutral. Speaking of the neutral option, that is coming out in JP in July.
It really doesn't matter if it breaks a game plot, it's more "does it create a negative image" kind of thing. And while it seems that the dialogue in the game might address this, I can guarantee that many, MANY gamers (and non gamers especially) will look at their descriptions online and simply dislike them without a second thought.I say both of you are exaggerating. The developer is doing steps in a different direction, and that's already commendable. Frankly, This isn't something that breaks a game plot.
And it's still better than the "everyone is gay for you because you're the main character" route taken in Dragon Age Inquisition
Yeah, but when they're the ONLY examples of people of a certain group, it tends to stir up trouble.
i had a discussion about this with a friend the other night.
Wait is that what happened in Inquisition? I thought they were just gay or bi and that's it. You force them to be gay for you or something?
Uh, not to be a downer or something, but the whole "your avatar can s-rank with the youngest adolescent sister they were raised with since birth" kinda puts their credibility on thin ice.
True, but then you'd kind of have to write around it for certain characters, like Tharja and Viviron and Sumia and Cherce( I think Cherce was the on who had a crush on Chrome, or was that the other red headed girl with a flying mount), and for characters whose need is for their race to live on(such as panne and nowi), and for characters who need a "birthright" considering the setting of these games, etc. etc. However, if their sexuality is never explicity stated or heavily hinted at, then why would it matter? Even in a story-driven game. If its an accepted type of thing and is written so they could go either way and still be the same character, then there wouldn't be a problem. Not saying that isn't gonna be what happens, but eh.
From what I remember, there were characters you couldn't romance if you were the same sex, and characters you could only romance if you were the same sex.Wait is that what happened in Inquisition? I thought they were just gay or bi and that's it. You force them to be gay for you or something?

if it's anything like awakening, you can ealy on, but you have to really go out of your way to do that.
On the Nohr route, you have a linear campaign with no opportunities to grind in between (ie classic Fire Emblem, not Gaiden/Sacred Stones/Awakening).
Unless there is ALOT of killing.
Depends on the fire emblem game.
Depends on which version of the game. They need to space it out though for the game. I'd predict it'll be like Awakening: You'll be able to go for your first pairing 1/3rd of the way through the game. More if you weren't spending a lot of time with your mate.
My Avatar got S-Rank with Chrom right before the last chapter of the Gangrel campaign, but they were basically the powerhouses who were demolishing everything side by side for the entire first third of the game.
