Street Fighter V

Just give Urien the chance to expose his balls on stream for everyone to see
that'll even it all out

Karin is probably in, so, i guess this a "non fanservice" character, and probably one of the 3 newcomers will be a woman/girl.

So, there is enough room for non fanservice girl, and for me that is good enough. For me the only real pure fanservice is cammy, since Mika is a parody. =P

So, my bet is that we will get another reveal soon.

And that the Brazil Game Show reveal will be a newcomer.

And that the next reveal of a returning character will be alex or urien.
Ono said he's gonna be heading down to Dubai on the 11th of Sept with Blanka to present some news. I'm betting on another reveal
Isn't she based in some sort of over the top japanese wrestling with girls using that same kind of clothing?
google Joshi Puroresu , some female wrestlers in Japan have some flamboyant costumes and aesthetics (I like clowns so Kana is interesting to me)

And speaking of hair, nearly half the cast have the same pale-yellow spun straw hair color.

Invasion of the blondes: R. Mika, Vega, Cammy, Ken, Nash, Birdie, (Karin), (Alex)
Yeah, it's kinda crazy. I was at least hoping that some of the blondes would have a different shade. Maybe in the final version?

TAKE EM AROUND TOWN MIKA
Ryu really shouldn't crack Naruto jokes around her...

my relationship with Cammy is in crisis now...
But i didnt like your face though...
but i like your others "features"...

This is really stupid IMO. I don't find playing as a girl with her breasts flying everywhere "empowering". I find playing as a girl who is just as muscular as the guys who is dressed respectfully empowering. Someone who can hold her own in a fight, not someone who is designed to be sexy.

GameSpy: Action game players, I presume, are predominantly male. How do you feel that those players will react to the character? With videogame characters, many players dream of "being the hero." Will they instead dream of "being with" this hero?
Mari Shimazaki: Of course, from my perspective, being female, I see myself as Bayonetta when I'm playing the game. Conversely, when I play action games with a male lead, I don't think that I'm fighting "with" him. I still think of myself as him; I'm a guy when I'm playing those games.
Mari Shimazaki is the character designer for Bayonetta.

If they can do it with out sexing her up, I'd agree. I'd also love a Rose at some point who I think is the best female character in the entire series, and she's not full blown sexualized either.

I also agree with the Mika as parody bit... but parody requires a juxtoposition which SF generally doesn't have so the parody is lost.

All this said, Mika does look potentially quite fun, and that's ultimately what matters. I just wish fighters had a bit more breadth to their characters.

I want Rose to, while i don't play her, because the only game that i have with Rose is USF4, and i dropped that game. But i always liked her design and skillset (And she being based on Lisa Lisa is a plus)

But for now, Chun is my main, since we have a bit of story.

I'm very indifferent about Karin, she's neat but
I feel as if Salty Bet ruined her for me.
There's a very unentertaining and OP version of her called "Blue Eyes White Karin" in Salty Bet, and always comes up in exhibs.
Not fun to watch at all.

So you're indifferent about a character because of a trumped up mugen version that has nothing to do with the original.

Hmm.

Joshi Puroresu is generally known for having outlandish, weird, and sexy outfits
to me, complaining about Mika's design is like going "darn someone should really tell these strippers to cover up" or something

Mika is there to be the personification of FUCK YEAH WRESTLING
let her live her life and let me live mine

Honestly, regardless if the character is made for fan service or not, I will probably find them sexually attractive.

Karin is one of my crushes next to Sakura.

So far, I have no problems with the SFV roster besides the fact that there are a lot of SF2 characters.

This makes me think of how random the reasons someone may like or dislike a character.

I like Chun li, because before i getting into fighters, i used to play marvel 3 against the cpu, and chun was the most reliable on my team. =P

And i hate seth not only because his design, but when i got usf4, i decided to finish in the hardest difficulty without understanding the game at all. (and i got stuck in the boss battle for 2 hours)

Wiser words have never been spoken!

Brings a tear to my eye.

Also love the fact Vega's mask goes flying off. "Gimmie a Rainbow yeah!" *is thrown brightly coloured sports drink instead of beer*

You're missing the point. It isn't her design that is the problem, it is that her design is reflective of the problem that there is no real diversity. Wouldn't it be nice if she was one of a selection of character types? You could play the fat, horned-helmeted opera singer named Ulga or the foxy, ass-out wrestler named Mika? But that selection doesn't really exist.

Right now in SFV, if you wanted to play a man you can choose to play the focused martial artist, the cocky martial artist, the fat rocker, the DBZ wildman, the half undead dude out for revenge, the evil dictator, or the beautiful sociopath.

If you wanted to play a female, you get the wrestler with her ass out, the spec ops with her ass out, or Chun Li.

I took 2 hours to defeat him... In normal mode...

And kids lets stop talk about how wrong is show some skin because is sinful and lets worry about if she will end being like El Fuerte. *Sigh*

I feel that she is kinda like Abel, having a huge command grabs lists, but bein hybrid.

But the way she moves (walking and running), reminds fuerte, for sure.

Wouldn't it be nice if people waited until every character has been announced, DLC and all, before complaining about character diversity?

We need to wait for everyone to have their asses out before we asscertain the true ass among them

Wouldn't it be nice if the announcements made a hint of an effort to actually include said diversity?

I'm not saying it can't come to the diversity, it's that the slow process to getting to it effectively shuts people off waiting for it in the first place.

Uh, the reason why Urien wears so little is so his muscles can be shown off for power, and the reason why R. Mika wears little is to show off her tits and ass for looks.

This isn't even a comparison.
I understand what you're trying to say and I understand why many dont like her outfit, but that's terrible reasoning. "Shown off for power" essentially means that he wants to show off his confidence in his body.....which esentially comes down to being confident in his looks.

Granted Mika's outfit is definitely a bit pandering (personally I'm fond of it, especially since they lost the dumb heart nipples) but I think the hate is blown out of proportion. I give Mika a pass since her profession is historically full of flashy outfits and a bit of skin, even when males do it. Cammy on the other hand has no good reason to walk around in leotard thong all the time (that arse is on point though #justSaiyan)

They have plenty of time to decide whether to get the game or not. They can wait until there's a character that's right for them before getting excited for V. The same thing happened/is happening for Xrd.

Not like we don't have a precedent in the genre, eh?

THERE IT IS AGAIN
SHE'S NOT STOPPING TODAY, ONLY STUNNING

FYI Cammy explains she wears that leotard to enhance her 'aerodynamics' since she is known for her sheer agility and is leg based as a fighter. She didn't wear it for the sake of everyone else in Delta Red/Shadaloo to get an erection. She actually gets embarrassed when wearing erotic outfits for the sake of them being erotic. She actually wears pants when not on duty.

Of course the obvious 'real reason' is because the developers [and legion of fans] like Cammy's butt, but there IS a story explanation for her outfits so it's not out of the blue or anything new since her inclusion.

Wait, what does circling the wagons mean?

But, either way, marketing is one of, if not the, most essential things that determines if people want to buy the game or not. If they don't show a variety of (good) women characters for a decent amount of time before it hits shelves, then people can only assume that that's the route their taking with the game for that time. And that's a massive spoil on some people's opinions on the game.

So far the line of female reps have been, in order: Chun Li->Cammi->R. Mika. And many, MANY people would argue it's been a massive degrade for each new one. I can't blame people for becoming disinterested in a game where the news fails to show anything worthwhile in a specific aspect that those people want to see.

Honestly while I agree to an extent, that's more of an issue with choosing a character based on gender (and I seriously doubt all the remaining females will be bootyful). More diversity within gender or race is great and should be striven toward, but it's shouldnt be forced either. Heck I'd love more chocolate and ladies in SF, but if suddenly all the characters we love or love to hate were suddenly replaced to satiate people who want a specific race or gender or lifestyle or whatever, then it gets to a point where design starts to feel forced and in-genuine in gameplay, visuals, and story.

I agree that there should be more diversity, but they should go about it a certain way as well. Focus on gameplay first, then the other stuff.

Except that gameplay wise, Mika is showing more than chun or cammy, and this is coming from a chun main.

I'm really digging Cammy's look in this version, yeah it's pretty much like her other iterations, but she seems a lot more defined and seasoned. During her stage entrance before a match starts, you can really see how defined her stomach and arms are, and even her face shows signs of slight aging and experience. I think she's turning out really cool aesthetically.

I really like cammy too. To be honest, i'm saying that now...

Ryu, Chun Li, Cammy, Bison are the best looking versions of themselves ever in my opinion.

I mostly agree, though the belly button indention is stupid imo. Does it need to be that deep?
