Then just have it disappear right before he actually tags in?
That'd look really weird. Characters appear almost immediately for tags, so you'd be looking at the chair, it'd dissapear, then the very next discernible instant Beowulf would be behind you hitting you with the chair. Imagine if when you tagged Ms.Fortune immediately got her head back and threw it at you for her tag. You could be looking at it behind you one second, and it'd have been thrown at your face from the opposite direction the very next.
Lab zero is pretty creative in how they use their animations. They may be able to use what they already plan give him an make shift tag in when he does not have his chair.
If they wanted to do it, it'd have been done already. So doing it now is outside the plan. I don't want to get a move that's forced as a chairless tag. Remember when Fukua didn't have any new assets, and some of her stuff looked not as good? It worked well enough, but there were obvious chop points.
This will force players to choose on whether or not its worth it for Beowulf to get his chair back before tagging him out.
He can get rid of his chair mid combo, and do a finisher into the chair for the extra damage. It's not like Fortune's head, where it can do stuff on it's own to help Fortune. I haven't gotten a chance to play him, and he's not finished even if I had, but I don't think leaving the chair on the field will do much. If you wanna not have the chair after tagging, just jumpback hk. If you wanna have the chair after tagging, any combo you land will end up at the chair anyway letting you pick it up. The only difference will be you have Grendel Arm on incoming, but like I said if you want that just instantly j.hk, and if you WANT to have the chair on incoming then you have to work to get it back with a combo or neutral, which sounds like a hassle. You'd just be making life difficult for people who want the chair after tagging.
I thought that Beo's tag in was being animated in a manner that allowed it to work with or without the chair. As in, the animation would remain the same even if he didn't have the chair, except for the obvious fact that he would no longer be holding his chair.
I know his block works like that, and I know his normals actually either don't have the chair or are completely different, but I don't know about tag. I haven't been watching the animation streams, so maybe he does. But, like I said, I think if he was intended to be capable of tagging in without his chair, they would have showed it at one of the things by now.
