I figured this deserved its own thread. Have some overview trailers for the characters and different types of arms.



The character designs and art style are so great, I really want this game to do well. With Splatoon, we know new IPs can be a smash success if the marketing is done right.
 
Translations for above:
Arms weapons

Fire Punch: You can make it light up with fire by charging your punch / opponent catches on fire if hit, and they'll always fall down

Big Punch: A big and slow punch / If you charge it, it becomes bigger and also deflects opponents punches

Thunder Punch: can charge your punch to have a electric punch / opponent cant move for a bit if hit, can combo into a throw

Boomerang: Can curve a lot more / You can charge it to have a wind effect that makes the opponent fly

Revolver: 3 punches with one "Swing" / can stun opponents if charged / easly deflected by enemy punches so be careful

Salamander: Attackes like a whip / chan charge your punch to light it up with fire -> more damage

Characters

Spring guy: can deflect atacks after dodging, when his HP is low his attack goes up

Ribbon girl: can jump multiple times in air, can also fall down quickly

Ninja guy: disappears(warps) when dodging mid-air, can also "warp" after his guard

Mummy guy: doesnt get stunned while running, jumping, and attacking / Heals while guarding

Mechanica : Can hover mid-air, doesnt get stunned (same as mummy)

Also yeah, I'm really psyched to see a new unconventional fighting game pop iup. From what I've been hearing from sources, ARMS is "straight flames" and I'm more than willing to give it a good shot.

that boxer was the one with freakishly long arms

Have you guys noticed something? every character has spiraling eye detail, except for mechanica-(yellow arms DVA) does that mean Mechanica is the only human in the cast and everybody else are super fighting robots?(yes even the Mummy robot)(I know-don't worry I know a mummy robot is kinda dumb but cool)

possibly, or these robots were specifically created from this sport, they do have fans, big companies possibly use this as a ploy to get more money(hence the logos for the fighters), Mechanica wanted a slice of that sweet sweet robo blood money so she decided to make a suit to get into the action. though that's getting into the whole "bluh bluh" edgy territory of video-game lore speculation so let's tone it down a bit and say that the robots were built for sports to keep humans safe and entertained. though that lab stage kinda makes me want to lean back on the first statement I made. There were like Spring people in those green tubes....were if spring people are biomechanical beings that are grown? that fucked, bro.
 
In this day and age, it's not a REAL Nintendo IP unless it has very dark lore.

Well we got a bit more info on Arms lately.

Some new Arms types, a new character, and the reveal of a 2 vs 2 mode!


There was also an ARMS invitational some time ago, in case you wanted to get a grasp of how the gameplay in a competitive scene.

So we have springs, chains, ribbons, cloth, noodles, and industrial springs. What else can be made into arms? Land line phone chords, fire fighters hose, tentacles.
 
Yarn, whips, lassos, gum, etc.
 
Min Min's only appropriate rival is an italian stallion with pasta arms

why doesn't Nintendo do those extender arm things they've been referencing recently. LIke uh I'm pretty sure they made an appearance in MK8 right

Every other character also has swirly eyes while hers are normal. I think she's the only human.

If all these characters are human i'm kinda hoping they are using machines kinda like the Strike Witches but you know with arms instead of legs.
 
Hmm. The bouncy arms pause to bounce, the cannons have considerable startup, and the discs just hover there for a bit. I'm starting to worry if the game is too slow, seems like defenders have a hell of a lot of time to react to almost everything.

Did you watch the invitational footage? Believe me the game is much faster in action.
 
...So there's a bunch of 'em? ARMS Laboratories is just growing these things?

This stage has finalized my opinion that this game is basically Custom Robo mixed with Punchout. And I am more than okay with that.
