Bayonetta thread? Bayonetta thread

Japanese Voice Cast
Bayonetta: Atsuko Tanaka
Jeanne: Mie Sonozaki
Luca: Daisuke Namikawa
Cereza: Sawashiro Miyuki
Rodin: Genda Tetsuaki
Enzo: Wataru Takagi
Balder: Norio Wakamoto

Source: 4Gamer

That's right! Y'all be reading my posts in Norio Wakamoto's voice. ALL HAIL JUBILEUS!

What's the anime even gonna be about? Because it kinda looks like it doesn't follow the game but the voice credits...

(Also Norio Wakamoto yesssss)

I'm sure the plot will just be a mediocre filler plot that will have little to nothing to do with the games as a whole. just like the devil may cry anime.

I hope we see some more Enzo antics. He seems like the kind of guy you would go out and have drinks with, talking for hours.

I don't even care if it'll be a shitty anime.
It's better than nothing with how Bayonetta, as a product, is. There was almost no Bayonetta 2, and Bayonetta 1 is rather unpopular in comparison to other game series.
SO HYPED FOR MUH BAYONETTA.

It's using that Hellsing art style which I have mixed feelings about. On the upside that style is freaking amazing, specifically with crazy over the top action stuff (i.e Bayonetta) but on the other hand if it could've been more in the style of the character concept sketches (which if it's a movie or 3 episode long series isn't exactly out of the question) I'd be considerably happier.

Ill wait for the english dub of the anime. Can't have Rodin without that one black guy voicing him. Nope

That one dude is Dave Fennoy who voices such other great characters from games as Josey James (Lollipop Chainsaw)/Ed (Metal Gear Solid 4)/Lee Everett (The Walking Dead).

Yuri Lowenthal will reprise Luka no doubt, but if Hellena Taylor isn't doing Bayo's voice there will be some climaxing up in this shit.

Yeah Dave Fennoy is his name. I couldnt remember. I did remember proposing him as a potential voice for Isaac but his name was escaping me. Also there be better be more Rodin in the anime, and maybe Bayo2. Im not gonna play it, but ill hope that a youtuber im subscribed to does a playthrough of it.

So I played Bayonetta 2 at a gaming expo in London today, I'm not much of a reviewer but I'll chuck my impressions in here:

The first thing I noticed (while in the 3 man queue) was that the difficulty had gone both up and down. It sounds a bit weird, but the enemies and bosses seemed to deal more damage and have more health, presumably to balance the Umbran Climax feature (which not only increases you damage output massively, but gives you some health back on activation too). On the other hand, the first enemies were very easy to predict and there were health things everywhere (there was also a Red Hot Shot equipped from the start), but I think this was probably because it was a stage demo which had to cater for both the newer people who want to win and the experienced players who want to win and get more than just a bronze rating.

When I actually got on the game I was going to test out the touch controls, but the only difficulty options with them were Very Easy and Easy, so I backed out and went with the normal control scheme that offered the Normal difficulty. Anyway, I started it up I was greeted with a wonderful cutscene and thrown right into the action against some angels. They were incredibly easy to beat up, only attacking every now and then giving me a chance to get to grips with the new Umbran Climax feature and the available weapon in the demo. The first boss (a mini boss, I assume) came along and the difficulty ramped up, mainly because he was attacking more often than his minions but also his attack pattern was less obvious than before. The final boss of the demo was very easy for the most part, but dealt crazy damage upon hit, I think this fight was more focused on being visually astounding than anything else though.

The boss fights were more interesting than in the first game, this time they kept freshening things up every quarter and sometimes fifth of health increments, instead of the usual half health stage change that featured in most bosses in the first game. This improvement applies to mini-bosses too, which is especially nice.

The cutscenes and the gameplay both have spectacular graphics, the only change I noticed in the cutscenes was the inclusion of fancy lighting effects but, other than that, it was hard to discern any difference; in some cutscenes I even thought I was still playing or that a QTE was incoming.

Overall, if the rest of the game is as good as this demo then it will be significantly better than the original Bayonetta and be one of the best games released in the past 5 years as well as the best Wii U game until Smash Bros comes out. It was excellent.

Didn't Gonzo do the anime adaptation of "Welcome to N.H.K"? I actually like that show a lot.

Yes, but the story adaptation had so much left out from the manga.

Sorry folks, not a game update. Just a new article about the animated movie. An article in moon runes but hey! poster and a couple of new screens.

http://www.4gamer.net/games/074/G007439/20131022058/

(Feeling a little skeptic about the quality. Part of me would rather prefer a movie made with the in-game graphics...but then again, I thought the same thing about Street Fighter, Sengoku Basara, etc.)

Aw, cheer up Baldy! At least you got a main spot on the poster!

I really hope they go into detail about Bayo's childhood and who her mother was and what she was like.

who her mother was and what she was like.
She was a abusive witch! This mask? To hide a black eye she gave me.
And if I didn't fry her ass at the stake, her lawyer would fry mine in court.

What about about that loving inscription on that fancy lipstick that Cereza shot into your cranium? Maybe you have a thing for the abusive ones, eh?

I hope Tabitha Fair joins the Bayonetta soundtrack.

I should probably get Bayonetta soon.
Especially since I have the means to play Bayonetta 2 now

Usually I would say something like "just watch a Let's Play or something". But you have to find Bayonetta 1 and play it. You do not just simply watch this type of game. You gotta feel the pace of these battles to truly appreciate them. The first time you execute a Torture Attack or activate Witch Time feels indescribably exhilarating. Like...kissing a dolphin, or sharing a high five with the President.

My only option is PS3 though.
Which is kinda disheartening.
And I'm not getting an Xbox 360 just to play Bayonetta.

It's still feels pretty good. Just don't use the "Sergey's Lover" item that splits you into clones while using the gunchucks (or any weapon really, its just that this one gives the game even more crap to try to fit on the screen smoothly). Because IT. WILL. LAG.

It'll be like playing in infinite Witch Time...with you also being slow.

Just one good thing to be heard about PS3 makes me feel better about it.
THough I will take that to heart.
Sides I probably wouldn't be able to use that.
If I couldn't use Virgil's Shadow Clone Jutsu in DmC's DLC I doubt I'd be able to handle clones in another game

What a chimera then is man. What a novelty! What a monster, what a chaos, what a contradiction, what a prodigy. Judge of all things, imbecile worm of the earth; depositary of truth, a sink of uncertainty and error: the pride and refuse of the universe.

My only option is PS3 though.

Well, you can always pretend the lag is because King Crimson is hiding around somewhere. :/
The game was patched by Sony but it's still the clearly inferior port. On that note, that was probably the day when Sega became my sworn enemy, when they blatantly gave PS3 owners the finger by explicitly refusing to clean up their mess. Because the game is rife with needless Sega references, Kamiya did nothing but give a somewhat apologetic shrug.

I oughta revisit the game one of these days. My last times with it were a major Bayo binge, farming halos and trying to unlock near everything, culminating in my greatest accomplishment - beating Rodin's theme-song stealing ass. This followed by the utter disappointment that is Rodin, the weapon. What's the point of angel weapons if there's no bow, no stripper pole and no sky-rocketing combo counter? :(
Anyway, I adore the game but I must confess that 15 bad minutes with it and I'll mope like a brat for the rest of the day. Doesn't help that even patched, the loadings can get annoying (even moreso if you play offline) and sometimes I saw myself spending more time going back in the game than on several attempts at some verses.

And I'm not getting an Wii U just to play Bayonetta 2.
Adapted that for me. -_-"

Well the clones just follow you and do whatever you do. Do a lot of area clearing attacks and the clones will take care of whatever part of the room you missed (using Dodge Offset with weapons that shoot while you dodge or using combos with leg sweeps in them are good examples of this). They don't do tons of damage, but they help keep your combo score on the rise. Only difficult thing about them is sometimes they limit your visibility in small areas. Again, be prepared to lag if you use them.

2 is when they get done. Probably some time next year.

Also, I've recently gotten the PSN version of Bayo 1, and I'm kinda stuck on the chapter where you revisit a bunch of areas in Paradiso (9, I think?) There's a section early on where Bayonetta has to go poledancing so that the Musical Angel Path Thingy connected to the platform lines up with a piece of floating MAPT. However, for some reason, it keeps wanting me to switch spin directions for the left analog sticks, and even when I do follow its directions, I achieve basically no progress. What do?

Just keep spinning in the direction you want to go. The huge islands take a second or two to start noticeable movement. Oh and the prompt will switch up directions depending on what direction you are spinning in. Just keep spinning constantly in one direction, and you'll be fine.

And they're called broken Spirit Energy paths doesn't anyone read the observations of the environment anymore I mean damn

I mean it switches directions even if I'm only spinning in one direction, and it barely moves after at least 20 seconds of spinning.

Bayo 1 showed up in the latest Game Informer as part of an article on current-gen cult classics. No new info on Bayo 2, of course, but it's still nice to see Bayo get some metaphorical lurve.

Did anyone bought The Eyes of Bayonetta Book? I got my copy a while back.

Nice find. I think I'd rather get that Europe-only (because BradyGames got the license and did nothing with it) strategy guide with EVERYTHING EVER, though.

BayonettaGuide.jpg

Too bad it's out of print and ridiculously hard to get without paying equally ridiculous amounts of cash.

I only got a few page scans (just the main characters) from 4chan. Finding artbooks these days is like a Grail Quest... T_T

When's info on Bayo2? I'm not getting it because "lol Wii U" but still quite keen on stealthily following any updates.

EDIT: anyone found anything about the animated flick? Impressions, reviews and whatnot?

EDIT 2: found a review of the movie. But it's on *shivers* Kotaku. ugh

The only Bayonetta 2 news we had was Kamiya being Kamiya.
Someone asked him to upload a new screen shot of Bayonetta 2.
And he did.
He posted a picture of Bayonetta's logo with "2" Spray Painted over it

Nice, haha.
