Okay, so I was originally just going to post a 'ho ho beast fury canceled no one saw that coming,' and just be a huge sarcastic ass, but oh my god, reading the dev's (Term used
incredibly liberally) response, I am disgusted. First off, I may be misreading something from that Facebook post, but it sounds like he's basically saying
'So, I know we're not doing the thing, but technically we only promised a demo with two characters, and we did
release something not entirely dislike a demo with 1 and a half characters, so y'all fucks can get bent. Also we totally sent out everything we promised despite no proof to that effect,' I really hope I'm misreading something there.
Secondly, not paying VAs or animators and, from what it sounds like from that email, telling them to fuck off when they ask for compensation, not quite the best way to go about making a video game. Not really the best way to make yourself seem like
not a hellacious asshole, for that matter.
Also, there might as well have been marshmallows flying around for how amazingly soft-ball that interview was. Like
'It sounds to me like a lot of backers of your project should have done some research from the start,' Fucking
SERIOUSLY?
Reading through the old thread, and the Beast's Fury account title was apparently 'Work hard or go home,' And, well, that seems almost comically appropriate. Work hard at making a game, your publicity,
paying your goddamn workers, or backpedal yourself all the way home while tossing blame haphazardly on to others like a child desperately trying to convince someone,
anyone, that no, it
was the dog this time.
It'll probably be a very long time before Ryhan Stevens can ever dream of hiring another professionally trained VA for one of his projects again.
It'll almost certainly be a long time before Ryhan Stevens can ever do
anything related to game dev without getting laughed and/or cursed out of the digital internet room, and by 'a long time' I mean 'probably forever'.
