USA [Dec 8, 2017] SALTY! Friday Weeklies @ Game Realms (Burbank, CA)

Why is it always Annie that gets this treatment anyway? I mean don't get me wrong, she should be as important to the canon story as playable Umbrella, Black Dahlia and Marie but I honestly doubt that has anything to do with why I keep seeing these jokes on every thread about Annie. (Sure wish the Lab 8 characters had that treatment)

On Topic: It's moved to Fridays? That actually works great for me since weekends are when I tend to stay up the latest anyway.

I think it's always annie cuse DDB demands it and wont stop or she's just popular honestly I wish some other character or 2 would get the treatment but I guess that just me being greedy.

Also yeah there gonna test it out and see if Fridays a good day to do the streams honestly it works fine for me heck any day does as long as I get the time they start and finish.

Got it. Also, I noticed this place has it's own twitch stream... so that means they have a good connection, ya? Please? Hopefully? LET'S GET DAT HD SG!
 
I'm new to going to these kinds of events, looking forward to this location change and time (only reason I can make it out now since its on a friday). For anyone whose been to this new venue is there an entrance fee? Only thing I'm confused about.
 
There is an entrance fee. It's $10. At Frootsii it was $5.

This new venue is totally sick, though.

@Weatherbee - They currently don't have a good connection, but they will be streaming, and are working on securing a better connection. It's a long story, but all you need to know is that for now, it'll be dual-streamed on both their channel, and the regular /eightysixed channel that you all know and love(?).

The Salt Mine Skullgirls stream has been running on Fridays for the past couple months.

Yeah, our weekly local stream in Massachusetts has been running on Fridays at 7pm-2am est for the past few months. We average around 20-40 viewers, but still sucks that we're going to have to work even harder for that small amount :x
 
I'm hoping to actually go to one some time in the next month or so, yay. The new venue turned out to be closer than frootsii (we'll miss you!) was, so easier to justify.

Is the new place the final choice or is it still going to move around a bit? Just curious.

Just a heads-up, but the Upcoming Events and OP is listing the address as Los Angeles, not Panorama City. Mapquest can't find the place if you put LA instead, you have to put Panorama instead.

I know that the timing is meant to be as convenient as possible to people who actually turn up physically to it, but just want to voice my support for a Friday stream for the "global community". LA has one of the latest timezone in the world so for people who don't live in the West Coast, Salty is on either very late night or early morning. If it's on Thursday or other weekdays, most people wouldn't be able to stay up late or watch the stream live in the morning, being at work or school. On Friday though, most people will be able to stay up late or get up early to watch Saturday morning. Just my thoughts.

In fact, the only reason I'll probably be able to watch tomorrow night is because I sprained my shoulder and can't go out because I'm miserable unless I'm high on vicodin, and then I'm socially inept. >.>

But yep, once I'm back on my feet, it's back in the social arena for some loving and not fighting. :p
 
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS! This place closes at midnight?! Or do they just lock up and we can continue playing for a bit longer?

The main post says it ends at 1 AM so unless I'm missing something that a good 5 hours-ish of Salty assuming we get started on time. Around the same length as salty cupcakes
 
Weatherbee - The $10 venue fee only covers you until midnight. I don't recall if they actually close at midnight.

Nekro_Surge - Don't be mad at Super Arcade. They reached out to US to include us in WNF. It's just too far, and the venue/schedule doesn't really accommodate us very well. Also, at UGC, we'll have full control over what goes on the stream.

Covenant - I can't edit the OP, but the schedule is 8pm to 12am.
 
Like the last thread, I'm wondering if any of you are willing to carpool people? I live just a wee bit out and have no vehicle so attending is usually a bust for me.
 
Will we still be starting the tournaments around 11ish or will they be earlier since we will probably be ending much closer to midnight? If I can arrange a ride out this week we probably get there closer to 10ish.
 
Ok, recap on venue from my PERSONAL opinion (the venue, not the stream).

1. Location = awesome for me. Closer than Frootsi, less travel time and gas.

2. Venue = HUGE and very VERY welcoming and accommodating. The venue is meant for gaming and the owner is very happy to have us there and will bend over backwards for us. He gave us a private room and when it was too small, he gave us the bigger private room, extra tables and monitors to use. He closes at midnight but for us, he is going to let us stay til 1am for future events.

3. Stream = Like Render said, we have 100% control. We choose what is being streamed, we commentate, we have the channel name, Eighty Sixed is still involved, we don't get kicked off by another game. He also has a complete private room with commentators setup with headsets, cameras all around, monitors and other fun stuff but we were unable to use due to staffing issues but he assured us for the next time, we will use it.

4. Additional games = The owner of the venue charges us $10 for the entire night (usually $5 per hour for normal customers) plus he let us know that the SG party can go in the main room and play ANY game they want which includes ANY game we request. MvC2, 3s, UMvC3, Fifa, Halo, Battlefield etc...

Negatives

1. Internet - Since the venue literally opened about 2 weeks ago, he still is in "Beta" stages of finishing up his place. We had to use 4g which as you can see was a bit rough. He made clear though he is working on getting high speed internet soon throughout the venue.

2. Day - Fridays for me personally could work since its the weekend but like previous people have said, personal stuff usually trumps it. Thursdays would be nice but we compete with Super UMvC3. I'm down for Mondays but midweek sucks for people that work or go to school the next morning which is a lot of our youngins.

^^^ I definitely think the venue has a ton of potential, especially if the staff is willing to work with us. My only negative was the music (WUB) and time, but both of which they will remedy for us. I can't think of any place that will would charge less than $10 for a venue fee, but if you got food and a drink at frootsii, you were spending that much anyways so it's not much of a change.

We got the space, we got the setups, soon the internet (hopefully), PARKING (YAY), there is some food nearby (HORCHATA), and it's not much further than Frootsii was (another 10min at most).
 
I wish I could make it to one of these. I'm only ever free on the weekends unless they change the scheduling at work which might happen soon. I was thinking about going today but I always work till 7.
 
Was there any interesting news from last Fridays SALTY stream?

I live in Calabasas, so if you're on the way, it wouldn't be a problem for me.

Just a reminder, there will be no Salty this week (11/29/2013) due to people being out and about for Thanksgiving. Stay safe, stay warm, get fat, and come back to Salty the week after!
 
As long as there are Big Band updates of some kind to hold us over, I won't complain.
 
I should but without getting into details, let's just say life's been a bitch to me lately.
 
As a casual observer from someone half a country away I think you should have a more positive thread title, one that actually says something about the event
