Usually games getting a release date bump up is a bad sign.
Ironically this is a pretty apt description of the original Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic games. The speedy loop-de-loop parts were more or less the archaic 16-bit equivalent of qte's, where you essentially have zero control on the onscreen action. The actual moment to moment platforming was probably slower paced and more methodical then any Mario or Mega Man X of the time.
I think the real strength of the original Sonic games was the sense of how sprawling the stages were. Nothing quite like the sense of scale on the stages in those games.
