I'll hopefully be able to submit a few in the next few weeks. I've had a few designs cooking but absolutely no time to implement them :(

Congrats on the new position, Maji!

Shouldn't the art stand out more than that? It's a little bit boring...

Art actually NEEDS to be 300 dpi, images that are 12 inches in 72 dpi are actually 3-4 inches in print quality. Which is pretty small.
72 dpi is suitable for web graphics (banners, ads, backgrounds, etc.)
150 to 600 dpi is suitable for printing

And I go a step ahead and work at 1200 to 2400 because overkill.

Also WrestlerGuile I was just using that piece as an example, I know it's not very good and it doesn't pop out. I wanted to see if Maji would call it fan art or not due to Annie not being in the game.

300 dpi is our minimum, any less than that and the quality will quickly deteriorate. All the things we are doing is for print, so 72 dpi is unacceptable.

Fan character, as in character's created by fans that don't exist in the official lore. And Annie is present in the game, theres a few billboards with her.

Hey, I just want make sure, aye?

All of the characters in the DLC roster for the vote Lab Zero had last year are not fan characters, so I think if you wanted to make a shirt for them you can. Someone actually created a Feng design a few months back.

The main requirement is that it has to be something from the game. Shirts don't have to have a character slapped on. Shit, I did one for the River King Casino.

Which I am wearing right now. The Dak'Kuul Dubu and River King logos are definitely some of my favorites because they don't scream "THIS IS A VIDEO GAME".

I wish more entries were more than just outright slapping a character picture on a t-shirt. In fact, I don't think I own any of the purely character art shirts at all.

K, thanks I'll keep that in mind.

Good stuff! Need more Last Hope in our lives.
Here's some Hallow references. You may have already had them, but whatever.

Key points about the Last Hope uniform: They all actually wear the same core uniform, just in different colors and lengths with the name badge in different places. Same collars, sleeves, hats and cross buttons closed on their left. Based on the Last hope palettes Val has, it can be assumed they all have red buttons too.

Specific Hallow points to note:
She's not actually wearing a mask; it's two belts. Not really sure how it sticks to her face since her hair always obscures it.
She has a belt around her neck in place of Val and Christmas' chokers.
Hallow is always shown to have flat, dead eyes. No pupils.
The amount of needles in her arm changes from shot to shot. This is pretty common in most of the story mode art, which isn't terribly consistent in a lot of places (I'm lookin' at you, Minette)
Her name is Hallow. :P

Psst... Magenta buttons! MAGENTA!

Has any one suggested the Skullgirls Desktop icon as a shirt design yet? Its simple, to the point and looks neat.

A kinda-out-of-topic question: will Eighty ever sell in Europe?

Yes, e-mail info@eightysixed.com and they can take care of you if it's for Skullgirls, Aztez or Archeblade.
The details of whats happening is here: http://www.eightysixedclothing.com/blog/updates-from-our-ceo/
Wish I'd found this months ago. Is it still going? I'd like to enter & would use Flash for the final art. I think I can figure out the transparent BG thing. Here's what I've been posting in the Art section.
http://skullgirls.com/forums/index.php?threads/artwork.3759/

Any preference on who/what to focus on?
This is still going, take a look around the store to get an idea of what we are looking for.

Thanks for the reply. Looked in the store. I've got an idea what to do. Is there a lot of competition each week?
And we can keep trying if we don't get it the first time- interesting. Thanks for this opportunity!

I asked a bit about this in the EightySixed & Gen Fanart sections, but since there wasn't a response, maybe a new topic is the best place.

Finally finished my first pass at a piece I want to submit to EightySixed for my first time. Stayed pretty close to the game/concept art to keep them on model, but did change the poses a bit. I was going for a movie poster feel to match w/the theme of the game. Hopefully it works. They prefer Photoshop or Illustrator, but I don't use those programs, so I hope Flash is OK.

Oh, but I figured I'd ask here if any color, composition, or anything else might be improved before submitting it. I'm also doing that at Animation Nation forums. I'm ready to show it here, but do other EightySixed people do that, or enter straight to 86'ed?

A new topic was not your best bet :P It'll be more helpful for everyone involved if there's only one eightySixed thread. Discuss anything and everything about 86 designs and submissions here. I will look into updating this thread so it's a bit more discussion friendly though if you feel it's going unnoticed.

Feel free to post designs in here for discussion if you want. Designs are often shown on devART and other places before they get submitted to the store anyway, so if you feel you'd benefit from feedback before you submit it post it up in here. @Maji has said he's willing to give feedback on stuff (though he might have meant via email or PM. I dunno. Help, Maji!)

Your best bet was to e-mail me, I don't always check that/this thread.

OK, good to know. I haven't been on this forum long, so thanks for your patience.

I'm honored, when I finally get time I'll get too it. I have tons of art projects to get to just 9 and 10 hrs shifts leave me a wee bit drained

Some of the art was too close to reference maybe. But I can still try again with this one w/revisions or try something new. From now on, I'll run concepts & rough sketches by to get approval before going to finished art.

Other concepts (didn't see any Fortune images on 86'ed):

-Fortune in trenchcoat in dramatic pose w/life gem eclipsing the moon. Possible Vitale/Bella/city BG as well.
-Fortune attack pose
-Wheel w/the cast standing over their icons.

Any of these sound good for 86'ed? I can take one to rough drawing. Thanks!
