If Marie is announced, what will happen to her final boss version?

I've been contemplating on what will happen to Marie's final boss version if her playable version gets announced for the Season Pass.

If this comes to pass, I think it'd be neat if Marie's encounter in Fukua's Story Mode was replaced with her playable version. Especially since Filia's meant to be her final boss.

Fukua's story is actually a "boss rush" with all the characters in the game (as of the original 2E release) in the reverse order of when they were made. That's why Boss Marie is in the middle just before the original 8 characters. If we get playable Marie I think they should just add her at the beginning of the story as the latest character along with all the new DLC characters to maintain the theme.

Having said that, they didn't update her story with Annie either, so I'm not sure if they wanna change it. Fukua's story has the most encounters as it is so it might not be a great idea to make it longer lol.

Nothing, I hope.
Otherwise that would be weird. Seems like too much work for nothing.
Different versions of Marie (and Eliza, and the Trinity) can coexist peacefully.

Changing it would be strange, story-wise. Same for Umbrella.

They did update her story when Eliza, Beowulf and Robo came out, so it's not completely out of the question I think.

You can see here in 2014, her story started with the Big Band fight.

But Eliza, Beowulf and Robo-Fortune never appeared in the stinger in her story mode :PUN:

I'd like it if they replaced her in story mode and maybe just kept her final phase as some kind of victory lap. Marie has never been a hard boss but it also doesn't play to any of the strengths of a fighting game to wail on a mostly static health sponge that you can't even grab or put in hitstun. In an ideal world she could be given the boss treatment that someone like I-No did with a unique super attack but otherwise is just a regular character fight.
We already have her skeletal summons and that weird energy man as assets so maybe just recycle those.

Well, it's official. Marie is revealed as the fourth ahd final Season 1 Pass character. Now, I wonder what will happen in her story and what will happen if her playable version fights her boss version?

I think it'd be neat to keep her in the challenges or Marie 300%, but as a boss she's not particularly engaging compared to fighting a normal character. I'd replace her with the playable version and give some sort of buff to stand out.

What if there are several shards of the Skull Heart and they reform into multiple Maries like a protozoa lol.

Spot the one in Orie's colors. Because Marie is highly likely to be eligible for a ticket to a special online casual I am planning and an Orie palette for my Skullgirls X BBTAG Palette Pack idea I am working on if she doesn't get it during development because of her maid's outfit.

Now that Black Dahlia is a stepping stone away from her full release as everything is finalized, the wait for info about Marie's Alpha with the answer I seek draws ever closer. That's where I come in to wait until she is added to the palette editor under the custom section so that I can have a preview of how she looks in her Orie palette to be replaced with a final one when she is released on Mobile.

Considering the videos we got recently, it seems that there's an attempt to differentiate playable Marie from the boss Marie (even when it comes to the details).

We probably will only get a proper answer once there's a playable version around, but for now it really looks like there's going to be two versions of Marie in game.

Personally, I'm kind of fine with that. I find playable boss Marie to be really enjoyable.
Maybe there would be a couple of tweaks for that version, though. But for now it doesn't seem that the existing version would get some big changes. Every bit of attention is dedicated to the proper playable one. And it feels great.

Honestly, I'd be ok with replacing all the old marie encounters with the new real marie character.

i doubt her boss is gonna change since it wouldt make sense considering playable marie is different from boss marie

Looks like I finally got an answer to my question I seek. During Arcade Mode, if I have a team that involves Marie's playable version, I can still fight her boss version. I'm fine with that because having playable Marie and boss Marie go against each other is actually a good deal. But what about during her story?

But what about during her story?
They'll find a way to implement it, for sure.
Maybe I would be similar to fight in Painwheel's story mode.
Or maybe it would be another case of good old Double having fun.

I think the simplest way to go about it is that Marie's story mode wouldn't have a Marie boss fight. They could justify having it if they really want to, like fighting a dream, time travel, etc., but especially for the newer stories, there is no particular fixed structure for what fights need to take place. It's better to just have the fights that fit the narrative rather than shoehorning in boss Marie just because.

According to this, looks like I finally have the answer to my question I seek. If I have playable Marie on my team in Arcade Mode, I can still fight Boss Marie, but not on her Story Mode.

Now that I finally have the answer to what will happen to her boss version when her playable version is announced, I can now wait for Marie with a clear mind. Okay, @Chrono_Tata, you can do me a favor and lock this thread.

I can lock threads based on the OP's request if needed but just want to be clear that it's not a normal practice to lock question threads just because they have already been answered lol. We generally only lock threads if it's clear that keeping a thread open is inviting unconstructive comments and spams to keep the forum drama-free.

EDIT: Thread unlocked at OP's request
