yeah the Set Pieces of SG's Stages were a blend of 2d and 3d parts. And Yes Indivisible is going to be doing stuff like that at a larger scale, it's just that some things will have to use a bit more 3d due to the lvl of detail that's going to be going into this game.
Yes I know that you understand that these models are just WIPs and yes they do look kinda funky compared to the style of the cast members. But don't worry you know that Lab Zero is going to put their own artistic flare to each of the models.
Like... okay, you know Boat/ Statues in Eliza's stage and how they are actually 3d models? If you were to turn of the shaders and textures on them, then yes they would look really weird. But since those shaders and other engine effects are on those models they make them look like they belong in the actual universe of the game. and because of that they can then animate them with out worry of them sticking out like a sour thumb.
So I personally can't wait to see this in full effect when Ajna is walking thur a HUGE city and we get to see layers and layers of tall Spanish like houses [idk i'm just making stuff up here] in the background and just knowing that even though each layer of houses are simple 3d models that the textures on them and the shaders make them look like that they are hand drawn.
