Instakill Ability

Hi all. I have a question, will SG ever have an instakill ability (hello GuiltyGear) or Fatality?
My personal opinion is No. But I think it could be an interesting feature. What do you think?
 
I think instakills were in some old versions of Skullgirls, but this was WAY before what we have now. Like, pre-alpha stuff.

I doubt they're happening now.
 
Having something akin to Astrals in Skullgirls 2 would be pretty neat .
 
The instant-kill system in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger seemed sensible to me....

It could only be performed if it was the final round of the match, your opponent's health bar was at 20% or less, and your super meter had to be at 100%.

If you're on match-point, the opponent is 4/5ths dead, and your super meter is completely full, your victory is practically guaranteed as long as you can hit-confirm into a combo or a super, so enabling an instant-kill at that point seems sensible to me.

With that said, I don't think it'll actually happen :(

Depends...

Does random anime music with lyrics that I can't comprehend happen during the IK sequence?

Is there gonna be enough shiny light/explosion effects to blind a sunglasses wearing dude such as myself?

Any long self-centered monologues from your character to make it perfectly clear to the opponent that they are inferior to you in every possible way?

Does the IK require an absurd amount of resources/prerequisites that it removes nearly all practicality to attempt in a competitive play environment?

If that is a yes in all of those points then I would welcome this flashy feature with open arms because I might use the IK feature about twice ever for the sake of being entertained. Then I won't care about it anymore because the novelty would be lost to me.

as Squigly's level 3, and I was really disappointed that wasn't the case.

Wouldn't fit that well in the game IMO. Astrals are just amine-ish fatalities anyway
 
I would welcome it if they implemented it the right way.

as of now, adding in finishers wouldn't work that great. but like if it were a story/arcade mode specific thing? yes.

if it were a 1v1 only thing? yes.

with teams? eeeeeeeeeeh I don't see that happening.

I would still love to see something along the lines of IKs or finishers, and I feel that Lab 0 would implement them well.

would Mike be receptive to the idea? maybe. who knows.

Astrals Finish ala Blazblue - I think they're cool and could potentially be a nice addition but they're ultimately unnecessary. Flashy end-of-match combo supers are great for styling on your opponent. Even though I'd like to see them make an appearance eventually, until Skullgirls fins a proper publisher, the art budget is better spent on more characters and story mode art.

Instant Kill ala Guilty Gear - Totally worthless, since you don't ever use them in an actual match. You do them a few times in training mode or against the CPU, watch the fancy animations and never see them again.
