Work on the Linux version of Skullgirls has hit a new milestone: you can start it up! An update containing a batch of images has been released by Lab Zero, showing the Linux version in action (courtesy of cybik, who is a volunteer working on the port).
Though no specific timeline has been given do to the volunteer nature of the process, the stated reaffirmation by Lab Zero to share updates with the community leads one to believe we'll be kept up-to-date as it develops.Lab Zero (excerpt) said:Here's a list of some general updates!
Updates and progress are sporadic and a little unpredictable, but we hope to keep the community more informed with developments for the Linux version moving forward!
- The game runs on 14.04 Linux. "Runs" is a far cry from being finished (or fully playable), but it's a significant milestone!
- Sound shows signs of progress
- Graphics are working for menus and some animations (credits, story scenes, character selection (without characters))
- Still working on graphics stuff for character animations Input for SDL-detected joysticks works with both gamepads (tested an Xbox360 wired gamepad) and FightSticks (tested a Madcatz Tekken Hybrid TE)
- Keyboards still aren't working but show up as detected.
