Captain Marvel's history is weird. Blondie used to be Ms. Marvel, got power-drained by Rogue for a while and was in a coma, came back, and now runs around as Captain Marvel with energy blast powers in space. Current Ms. Marvel is an Arab girl with stretchy powers and Inhuman origin who idolizes Blondie and took on the name.

Gwenpool is a girl from the "real" world who got sucked into the Marvel Universe and took on a hero name of the two most popular characters (in her mind) in order to survive and not die as cannon fodder.

Howard the Duck is for me. I'm one of the two people who liked the 1980's movie.
 
.....Ooookaaaaay doing a little bit more reading, it seems she comes from an alternate earth where all the Marvel Heroes were fictional....Which means she knows a lot of secrets she has no rights knowing, including secret identities, plot twists, classified information, and so on, and uses that knowledge to her advantage.

Wow what a weird weird character choice.

At least it explains her name is Gwen Poole and they misread her name I guess. I was always annoyed by her cause the point of Deadpool is he's got the hyper cancer mutation thing, never knew she straight isn't related in the slightest. But she knows Howard the Duck??? weird. I'll have to rewatch Nostalgia Critic's review too if he gets in for bad movie joke.

So she's basically Deadpool in the sense that she thinks the world is run by story devices and tropes, but has no superpowers and above average fighting skills?? But she's got a motorcycle!! Hahaaa... eh. I see why they did it though, Deadpool's movie's owned by FOX, but they didn't want to get rid of all the Deadpool.

Also Ms. Marvel is a good choice, she's basically a better version of Mr. Fantastic. It'd also be nice to see the first Muslim character. (She also apparently ships spider man and captain marvel who we absolutely know are here so brace yourselves for [JOKES] )

Oh yeah Howard was at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy wasn't he

Captain can fly and shoot lasers and shit.

No no yeah, I meant like the lady making her costume misread her name and though her alias was Gwenpool.

Now that I'm looking at her design again, does anybody find her lack of pants feel kinda off? Like with the gun straps on with the big ankle pads it just feels like "Wait why?" Is it ironic or something? Just SOMETHING about the design looks odd to me

Edit: It feels like they needed to differentiate from Deadpool but just randomly tinkered and gave her [GIRL] colors without too much thought behind the changes

Edit 2: Wait I think I get it, randomly showing off her skin only on her legs throws off the color balance for me because 99% of her torso up is pink/white. So a random 1/4 chunk of her is a unique color for no reason that doesn't go with the colors. Just give her white tights and it'll be good :^P

It looks like they're reusing a fairly decent amount of animation, so I've got a feeling that the cast should be pretty big all things considered

They do. Kamala's basically Mr. Fantastic meets Ant-Man. She can grow, shrink, stretch, "embiggen" her limbs (fists mostly), shapeshift, basically all of that. I expect her to be the new Super-Skrull if she gets in.
 
Something to note is MvC:I is being developed in-house at capcom
not outsourced to DIMPS or Eighting like they've been doing since SFIV

whether that's a good thing or not remains to be seen, but this is definitely something to note, since it's a first for them in about a decade

That is interesting. I still don't expect much (especially since they've lost much of their old talent), but it makes it a bit more of a wildcard. I suppose the game could be accidentally fun, if they get lucky enough.
 
Allegedly, a Marvel entertainment rep said X-men and Fantastic Four "Aren't off the table" just yet.
So thankfully, the rumors of it being MCU focused may or may not be squashed for now.

Someone pointed out that the stage in the first trailer appears to be the Highway from Megaman X's first stage.
But mixed with Asgard.
That is SO cool if that's the case.

Someone else pointed out the Asgard statues appear to be infected with the Sigma Virus
EVEN COOLER IF THATS THE CASE
 
I hope of we a joke character like Phoenix wright maybe we can get Stan Lee as playable Marvel character. Oh, and mvc2 Jill instead of stupid Resi 5 Jill....

When I asked them about the rumor that the game’s roster would not include as many (or any) characters from the X-Men or Fantastic Four series due film rights issues (the current film series for those franchises are owned by Fox and not Marvel Studios) and would instead favor characters already in the Marvel cinematic universe, Creative Director of Marvel Entertainment Bill Rosemann didn’t tense up the way PR folks tend to when you ask them a difficult question. While Marvel wants to take a forward-thinking stance with the characters they include in the game, he wants to make sure fans of all of Marvel properties, including X-Men, are happy. “That heritage is not lost,” he told me. Not the straight answer I was looking for, but it left me hopeful about my chances of Berserker Barraging people as Wolverine next year.

There we go, we got not as much to worry about
I wouldn't mind if they nixed Sentinel and Storm though, Magneto and Wolverine are iconic but we could use two other X-men that aren't there simply cuz "MvC 2 god tier"
 
I hope that this game doesn't suck like Marvel 3.
 
Well Unlike UMVC3 they should be able to patch the am if things get wacky, unless copyright BS stirs again. Thats 100 times more better than being locked in Level 3 vergil C Factor sweeping the entire enemy team from full health or BS like that.
 
If neogaf leaks mean anything to you, the guy credited with originally leaking the game (Ryce) has stated X-Men and Fantastic Four characters will be DLC.
