USA [May 27-29] Combo Breaker 2016 (Chicago, IL)

It took months to get the pricing down to the levels its at right now thanks to all the ritzy stuff here. I think we're all gonna have a great time at this place. On Friday/Saturday night the resort itself even has other activities not related to the convention (outdoor movies, party things, comedy club, etc). I think this'll be a great home for the event for multiple years.

Wow crap they really get you on the tax and resort fees. 3 nights totaling $622 for a Loft Suite. Any takers besides me want to go with the suite?

I thought that we wanted the suite for late night set ups, and that you didn't want to have a room like that since you wanted sleep (to paraphrase the reasoning, being an old man :p).

The people who get the suite should be the people who are cool with tons of people staying in the room till 4 am or some such, right?

In any case, want to reiterate this for people, that even if the venue is 24/7, if people wanted to show up early (Thursday or Wednesday, whenever people show), we'll still need set ups, so if it's feasible to bring something please consider doing so!

That was just for NEC, and I had to drive late sun. for work on mon. CB is memorial day weekend, so I don't have any obligations like work and such, so for CB I'm fine.

There unfortunately aren't any event discounts helping with resort fees on the Suites. Our arrangement with PRR only covers the King & Doubles regular rooms, so the suites are very much a premium option they get to pinch you with.

This place looks amazing. Even more hype for this, now.
 
Back in my hardcore card gaming days, I used to get together with a bunch of guys for stuff like gencon where we'd keep a suite that no one used for sleep. It was just a place where we could practice and/or drink. If 20+ of us chip in for our personal salty suite, it'd be pretty damn cheap

that's what i thought like kenin and people meant about getting a SGC suite, just like a ton of people all chip in a bit to basically get a room to play in

Yea but somebody had to reserve it, so I took it upon myself.

Maybe this time we can use the entrance music for top 16? (Since that was the plan last year but then never happened, I think)

Either of these ideas would probably be the simplest way to do it. I'd lean towards the gofundme personally since it's easier than remembering who's paid at the door and who hasn't, but it's up to Rizil.

Kinda depends on the setup overall with the house audio, last year my setup made it difficult to do audio on the house PA without it going onto the actual stream. The intro songs in SNS got me hit for copyright on YT as well, lol.
 
Obvious solution is to only use public domain music. Entry of the Gladiators for everyone!

Guess I get to be the guy who's like "Nah, gotta sit this one out coach", but this looks like it's shaping up to be great, so I expect hella good stories from this.

I'll have to wait a little bit to see how 2016 is shaping up but planning on signing up/booking in February just like I did last year. I am so fucking hype you don't even know.

Also holy shit a salty sweat that isn't trying to pack 50 people into a 4 person hotel room? My hype levels are maximum. I remember last year we had a crowd piled up around the tournament stations 2-3 people deep all day long for casuals so bring your setups.
 
Gonna save up and then book my stuff for Combo breaker. Cannot wait (Plus 24 hour venue, fuck yeah)

Unless something bad happens, I'm pretty much confirmed to be there. Gonna try my best not to drown in pools this time. I'm assuming this is gonna be on PS4 this time around, right? I'll have to get my hands on a PS4 pad if that's the case.

We had the death pool last time for sure, hopefully that doesn't happen again.

It says on the Combo Breaker site that Skullgirls is PS4 so I'd prepare to play on that.
