USA New England thread - Not UK

in live in Massachusetts and would love to do these events but one i need to get better and two i need a ride down

A couple items of interest for you to consider

1. Game Underground is running an event in Boston on Feb 15th, the "GU Video Game and Music Festival". When you click the link that's after this paragraph you may notice Skullgirls is not on the schedule, HOWEVER, Jamie approached me about this event weeks before actually making this Facebook page to ask if I'd be interested in running Skullgirls at this thing. So really it comes down to if enough people are interested. I know a lot of our community either doesn't drink (like Icky, and Natezer) or only enjoys really weird specific subgenres of music (like Icky, and Natezer), so I'm not sure how much interest we're gonna get here. I'm probably going no matter what, though, and if we can get 8 people I can run a tournament.

2. The next Game Underground monthly will be January 24rd. I can't actually make it as that's the same weekend as Frosty Faustings, but if someone else can bring a setup + run some brackets, there can be a Skullgirls tournament. I was gonna make a thread for this, but, I'm sort of confused as to where local tournaments go now? It's not a major, and we already have a thread in "Locals and Recurring Tournaments", which is this thread... anyways, for now here is the Facebook link:

1. While I'm not immediately interested in the event itself, I'd go to support a Skullgirls tournament. I'm assuming there'd be casuals and such too?

2. I can run the tournament on the 24nd, and I know @Natezer can bring a setup (you have been volunteered!) So that much is covered. @Zidiane would you be able to make it to this?


Why am I posting this when I'm leaving in an hour to see you guys where I can say this in person

I really should stop taking the fact there is a scene for SG in MA for granted and try to get to GU on one of these Fridays.

I guess this counts as a New Year's Resolution?

So I hadn't planned on GU this Friday because of Josh's thing, but now that Josh's thing is apparently Saturday only, I guess I can do both? What do you guys think?

GU I think should be in good shape because it's not just an arcade, it's also a game store, plus in addition to the fight nights they also have nights for MTG/WWE/Smash which bring in some extra revenue. I don't think they'd be organizing majors if they were in dire straights financially.
 
@Zazz let me break it down real quick GU is not an arcade per say. Your not gonna be throwing quarters at a skullgirls machine (although that would be rad). But anyways depending on where your located someone might be able to give you rides to our New England events and what nots. I don't want to peer pressure you but we don't bite.... Much
 
I mean I don't think it's inaccurate to call it an arcade. There's definitely people who go there explicitly to play the arcade games that are there. It's just that in addition to being an arcade it is also all these other things.

Sounds nice. I'd like to make my own way there when I get the time.

but just to say it plainly, I can't go to GU fridays this month due to employment obligations.

Saturday is still iffy for me, but I'd be down for Friday.

Hey pretty people. I should be able to make it on Friday but Saturday is looking pretty grim, since I have work till ~11. Also just a fun heads up this'll prolly be my 2nd to last GU visit before it's time for me to head back to school. Just letting you guys know so you'll have time to get yourselves ready to move the entire New England Skullgirls community into my room at school.

We can if we play on the streaming laptop. Although then I don't know where the commentators go. Alternately someone not me could bring a PC setup.

fwiw I was planning on bringing just my laptop to Josh's on Saturday.

I don't have a webcam or mic so that's a negative. @CaioLugon I know you want to hear my sexy good commentary lol but probably not gonna happen this weekend.
