So hey, i've been playing skullgirls for some time, and i've been posting my stuff on the fan art thread for some time too, but i felt wrong, because i was only posting my stuff there, so, i decided, hey, i should make my fan art thread so i can post my stuff, and admire the other fan arts in the thread, and contribute with stuff from other people if i find.

The thing is, there is another reason why i would like to post my stuff here, in its own thread. Since i decided that i would get back to drawing (last year), i got back without my usual friends that would help me to get better, because i lost contact with them. And i noticed that here, there is a lot of good artists, so, i was thinking: maybe they can help me get better, trough feedback, critiques, and general opinion. I mean, the worst feeling that i have in my life is being a 22 years old man and just so late coming to the realization that drawing is what i really love doing.

So, without taking the time here is all the Skullgirls fan art i did in the last weeks, all of them were posted on the art thread, i'm just posting here, and future drawings will be here only.

So, here it is, my stuff.

Screaming Filia:

Raging Leviathan:

Cerebella (and she is alive, what a miracle):

And, my two just line works.
Serious Squigly:

Eliza:

Can i double post here? I guess there is no problem since i did this thread weeks ago.

But hey, i did another SG fan art (almost.xD)

Here it is:
Wonder Samson:
wonder_samson_by_sotherius-d91h71w.jpg

it was really fun doing this, and i really liked how i did the painting on her skin and clothes. I'm seeing evolution in my drawings, and i love that. xD

The question has been asked lately. It's fine to double post in personal threads, art-themed or otherwise.

So, here i am again, posting my skullgirls fan art.

First, this i've made some time ago, but i decided that would be convenient to post with more stuff.

Ms. Monsoon. :

ms__monsoon__monsoon_fortune__by_sotherius-d953pjy.jpg

And, those 2 next drawings, are incomplete, but i'll post them here after the painting process.

Eliza doing a famous dio pose. (i tried to not be the same angle, and i did from head, but in the end is just like a common tracing, i'm a fraud. :/)
tumblr_nthr5lqoIU1uu9eyfo1_540.jpg

And a random Filia drawing that i did today.

That is everything for now, but soon i'll put color in those pieces. =D Enjoy

I suppose it is my turn to give you advice.

Your hair isn't very detailed and a few times it looks a bit stiff. A really good example of this is your Monsoon Ms. Fortune, her hair doesn't look very natural and doesn't have much detail to it. That is definitely what I think you should focus your attention on. Your legs look a bit stubby, although this is probably due to me not being able to draw legs without them being twice as large as their torso.
Your hands look really good and you've got a decent knowledge of depth (something I have absolutely no idea how to do). I like the way you shaded your recent stuff with the lots of lines. I also really like your style, particularly the way you draw faces!

Hmm, i understand, the hair thing is a problem that i always had, but for some reason, i always ignored it. Is really difficult to shade hair and drawing hair in general is difficult to me.

About legs, i don't understand very well, i like the way they are, but i'm trying to improve, keeping the "style", but making it right.

It definitely is something really hard to do, so take your time to learn it. If you shade it the same way you shade something like clothes, for instance, it wont look very good. Usually you'll use a lot of lines to show the different strands of hair to make it look less like a single connected strand of hair.

If you like the way they are, don't change them- I'm just saying from the way I draw, I think they look a bit short.

Heeey, it is me again. I just painted the Eliza pic, and i want to share here, since i don't know how much time will take for me to do the Filia one. One thing i must tell, coloring is my worst part by far, so the fact that i'm line heavy is to compensate that somehow, and it is working, at least until now, and this painting process that i did on the Eliza, is the same i did for the Ms. Fortune, but for some reason, it doesn't work that well in light skin, i guess is the color that i'm using for the shadows, i'll work more on it, but, here it is, i did 2 versions, one with her normal palette, and other with the Dio one.

And, for a while, this will be my last post here (since it'll take a while for me to do another SG related pic), but here it is, Filia, my main, not sure if she is my fav character, but i like her a lot.

Notes on the drawing.

1 - Her face is all wrong, the proportions, the place, is not symetric at all.

2 - Her hands are on different sizes, the fingers in specific.

2 - I took some advice from @Meow-Professor towards the painting, but i'm sure i didn't use most of that, but i tried, mainly adding highlights, but i think the skin and some parts of the clothes turned out wrong, but i'm happy with the hair.

this will be my last post here (since it'll take a while for me to do another SG related pic)
Yeah, i'm quoting myself....

Okay, i didn't plan to do a Skullgirls related pic, but since the reveal of R. Mika in SFV, i thought about making a pic featuring Beowulf and R. Mika, the original idea, was to put them, well, wrestling, but i had a problem with that. I didn't want any of the characters in a winning or losing position, so i started to look images of wrestling for reference, and i saw a lot of pics of two big guys, looking at each other eyes, while being close, very close, with their bodies touching, so i liked the idea, since well, Mika is way shorter than beowulf, i thought, hey, it is going to be awesome.

So, since this is a half skullgirls drawing, i think i can post it here in this thread. =P

Here it is.

tumblr_ntvsut5sQm1uu9eyfo1_1280.jpg

About the drawing.

I'll work on this week to add a background and paint this piece, it will be a lot of work with the idea that i had, but i'll do my best to make a good piece. In general, i'm happy with the anatomy, and how they look.

Beowulf, i find hard drawing him, because he is big and strong, but he is not super defined, he looks like a guy that got his muscle mass by working hard and eating a lot, instead of the usual "go to the academy and do specific exercises". But i'm happy on how he looks.

Other thing is, i don't want to be fanservice-heavy with my stuff, i don't feel confortable doing it, and i think i did something ok here, i don't know how to explain.

It is done, finally.

\o\
Wallpaper version (with background and everything)
tumblr_nu4h7mMMUB1uu9eyfo1_1280.jpg

Just the two:

tumblr_nu4h7mMMUB1uu9eyfo2_1280.jpg
Really lazy portrait that i did for beowulf to use in the banner.
tumblr_nu4h7mMMUB1uu9eyfo4_1280.jpg

Note about the drawing.
Since the beginning i wanted to use beowulf's stage as the background, and i really tried to understand the structure of the place to recreate the best way possible, i was not very successful at that, but i think i did a good job, at least remembers the original thing. I think the best way would be the background for a different view to not look like a copy, what really is in the end, but i learned a lot doing this, and this is my second piece with background that i really like. Of course, a lot of problems in the perspective as always, but i think i did better than usual, but i really need to learn how to use the perspective ruler in the manga studio instead of trying to do things from head. =P

Just a sketch for now...

tumblr_nuda8lL6BR1uu9eyfo1_540.jpg

i still can't figure out how to do samson, i'll change his hands and head later, he needs to be scary, and evil looking.

Also, just a quick note, in a few days, if everything goes right, i'll start doing commission, so if you're interested, let me know. =D

With Samson, its important to get that gooey, rubbery-ish texture. So making this shiny in some areas, rounded, with lots of stretching. The one tentacle you have kinda has this. I'd have maybe a few more tentacles and decrease the size of the arms as they lead up to the large knuckles. Not by too much though.

But yeh, Samson is a pain to get right at times.

Drawing guide line would really help you with perspective.

right now, I can't tell which direction I'm looking from. Middle to upper parts is kinder like looking directly from bottom while to bottom part looks like as if you're looking at her straight. Long story short, it's confusing.

Also work on ya proportion. I know filla is know for pig-chan but... she looks way too wide.

I don't think she looks to wide, but besides that, i'm remaking this with more patience, and i have an idea on how to make samson now.

It is done!

tumblr_nuflb58xwX1uu9eyfo1_540.jpg

As i said, i made from scratch but the idea is basically the same.

I took some liberty with Samson, since parasites are shapeshifters, and i liked in the end (even if he ended up looking like venom).

Your anatomy looks kinda small, your faces look extremely similar to most of your work. There's nothing wrong with looking at references, they're VERY useful when getting a good idea of what YOU are looking for in a drawing.

>Overall, don't stop drawing! Keep practicing and try new things. Do not be afraid to try new methods. :)

small? What do you mean?

About the faces, i am working on that.

And yeah, every drawing i do is test subject for something, the last filia i did, i tried to do some huge pure black areas in the line work, i believe that it fits with what i do.

Also, another sketch, done in 1 hour and 5 minutes (i'm trying to keep track of how much i take to do stuff).

It's me again! I finished the piece, i started earlier, and i tried a new way to paint stuff. I would want to hear your guys opinion in the shining parts mostly. I feel that was a bit too much?

tumblr_nuh6fwARH01uu9eyfo1_1280.jpg

The Shinyness works really well! Only part it clashes with is on the legs, where little line marks honestly don't look good next to the glossy shading. I'd suggest rubbing the shiny down on the legs, so its more blended and contrasts less. Also, Eliza's leg that's closest to the camera looks really fast at the foot. Maybe its just perspective. It's probably just the perspective and me seeing it wrong. The stiletto is messi9ng with me man XD

I think i know what is wrong with her left foot (the one at the right side from our point of view).

About the legs, i don't understand what you mean really. But i think this is more due to my english not being the best yet. =P

Well..I mean, you have these lines that look kinda like tick marks, I assume they're meant for shading. They seem to clash, at least to my eye, with the shinyness on the leg. It seems a bit unnatural and makes her legs look plastic. My only real suggestion was to tone down the shinyness on the legs so it blended with the leg. Sorry if that was confusing

Oh, i see now, =D Thanks. I'll pay attention to that.

The anatomy looks a little bunched up, causing them to look small in certain angles!! :0

Oh, i understand now, kinda. =P

I'm trying to improve my anatomy a lot (i'm kinda obsessed with muscles to be honest). So, i'll pay attention to make things more, loose?

Hey, I really like some of these.

Just a little tip though, don't wanna bug you too much since this is an art thread and not a 'please judge my work' thread.

I ditto the person before me. The main thing I think you should work on is your anatomy. It looks really off sometimes. Oh, and you might wanna change the 'of me' to 'by me' in the thread's title, otherwise you make it seem like it's a thread where you just post self-portraits (which is clearly not the intention).

Oh, but criticism is something that i appreciate and i need that.

Also, title changed.

But what exactly look off for you? I try to put all the muscles in place, with the correct form and stretching, and i really like to study anatomy, but i can't tell what you are talking about, like let's say my last Eliza drawing, i think the breasts are a bit wrong, and the arms aren't that well connected with the body, but i think the legs are fine, and the neck, connecting with the body.

Alright, I'll try to elaborate.

Muscles are fine, really. If that's what you fancy, keep drawing them. I think Eliza's head looks a tad too small compared to the rest of her body. Her hair lacks volume and makes it look like as if it's sticking against her head, or as if she just got out of a swimming pool. Her left foot (from our PoV) looks disjointed. The right foot doesn't look all that healthy either. Generally, I think most of your stuff looks fine, but there's always a part that just doesn't quite fit in (arm too small, belly too straight, head too small in this case).

The next thing I would work on is your colouring. NEVER shade with plain black and white hues unless it's really the theme of the drawing. It's a novice mistake and makes your art look dull. Try to play around with colours, perhaps even look up palette challenges - don't be afraid to (as an example) use something like purple or blue to shade Filia's legs instead of just a greyer tone of the base colour.

Okay. Let's see every point here.

I think her head is fine at least in the size department, if we are going trough normal human proportion is a bit too big, but compared to normal Skullgirls Artstyle, it is too small. In the sketch it was actually way smaller, i had to make it bigger.

The hair i understand what you mean, i'm going to work on that.

I think both legs i can do better if i make a "floor" while i'm sketching, but i'm seeing some problems with them too, i imagine is what you are saying.

About the colors, i think i said this here multiple times that is my weakest point, but i'm already working on that, never using greys, but actually using other colors.

Thanks a lot. This will help me to improve for sure.

Perhaps her head only looks small because there's something wrong with the hair. We shall see.

Alright, no problem. Glad to be of help again. Bear in mind that improving one's colouring is no easy job. Colours make a piece of art. They characterize your style and they can either enhance your creation or completely ruin it.

Perhaps her head only looks small because there's something wrong with the hair.
I agree with that. The hair is a bit too thin.

I also see the chin is sharp, and the eye on the left is slightly bigger than the other. But overall their effort was visible. I very much enjoy the pose you did for her. The lines added onto the shading gave it a dynamic effect, and if that's what you were intentionally going for, good job!

cool art ! really nice, but a quick tip!!!!! Proportions are key!! If u know the right proportions of something it'll look better by 70% the remaining 30% is just learning how muscle work and poses to make everything look less stiff!! But this is really cool keep drawing and keep improving u have a lot of talent my friend!!

I must say something, after years without having people to actually give me advice or criticism, the feedback on this thread is something awesome happening to me right now.

A lot of mistakes, that i've been making can be solved if only i get more careful and more patient.

And i don't know when i'll draw some skullgirls, so, i'll leave this here, thank you guys so much, i'm getting back into the fight to become an artist, and your help is making a difference in how i see things.

Oh hey, i'm back again!

I've done this Parasoul Fanart:
tumblr_nv1vv50Nnh1uu9eyfo1_r1_540.jpg
Satisfied with everything except her left hand and her lipstick on this one.

On a not so related note, i'm doing commissions now, you can find info on my deviantart or tumblr, if you are interested, check out! =D (i also need some money).

EDIT: there was a white spot that was making me mad, so i had to fix the image

Hey, an update! i guess.

I'm very hype for this game, and also, i'm really proud of myself with this drawing here.
I plan to do more Indivisible related stuff in the next days.

Hey, i would like some feedback on the lineart i did for this one, i think it makes my drawings look more natural this way. I just changed the pen tool for a more sensible one!

Nice job! You're using Photoshop? Feedback on a detail: the mini-glove doesn't cover the actual finger. Here's an example.

Feel free to keep this post as is, but you can also repost it in the new Indivisible art section as well!

I'm using Manga Studio 5, also called Clip Studio Paint Pro.

In this ajna pic, i actually forgot to do the shading in her eyes.

Also, i've been trying to do a zebei pick for some time, i think i got him now, i'm doing the lines, but i'm not that satisfied, soon i'll post the lineart here for feedback. He is so difficult to drawy. xD
