Pokemon

Charizard is in. Venusaur and Blastoise are out. That pretty much says it all about the state of Game Freak.

Guess this is a good time to ignore Sword/Shield and just play the previous games I've missed on like ORAS and USUM.
 
Seriously, the Pokemon fandom should grow up mentally like they did physically!

Charizard is the rep for the Welsh Dragon. One look at the champion and you can see why.
You know damn well that's not why Game Freak repeatedly gives Charizard special treatment over and over.

They didn't even put the Yorkshire Terrier (which is even named Yorterrie in Japan) in the game, so no they really did not put much thought into making a UK-themed Pokedex. You really expect me to believe they missed that one but somehow came up with something that's as much of a stretch as this?

You know what? You're right.

No one is telling you not to buy it.
Feel free to throw money at GF for a subpar entry to the series with an overworld as empty as a Far Cry game and with tree models straight out of Morrowind.

Well, most people don't really care about the anime these days. And in general things that do change tend to garner more backlash than things that don't change - of course the anime has Ash in it, was anyone ever expecting it not to?

Because Game Freak fail to make proper choices. The Pokemon Fandom? Even worse than them. Way worse.
 
By the by:

It looks like Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and the Gen 7 starters are gonna be added in via Max Raid Events.

As well as random legendaries.

Any word on a new Eevee Evolution or not?

The fact that we're only just now finding out about all the removed moves via datamine is really really bad. This is something Game Freak should've disclosed sooner.

I honestly can't fault them for killing Hidden Power, that one might be for the best, but other removals are super questionable. No more hard reads with Pursuit, really?

Also, what happens if/when Unown comes back?

Removing Signal Beam makes no sense though.

There is no Eevee.

Either way, I'm not sure that they balanced the game. Galarian Darkamata is insanely strong, and Cinderace has a better Protean as a hidden ability.

Speaking of Eevee, the evolution method for Leafeon and Glaceon has changed, no more icy or mossy rock required.
