Here is the thread for lore and story building concerning Scythana:

Official character bio:
Given the Gigans’ notorious reputation for being battle-hungry, berserker giants and their nation’s bloody history with the Canopy Kingdom, few were surprised when a criminal of Gigan blood attacked the Renoir Grand War Memorial. But while Scythana may have a record, she's no terrorist. With her employer refusing to tell her side of the story, she decided to regain her freedom by force.

Despite being 12 feet tall, Scythana is only half-Gigan, the Skullgirls-equivalent race of giants, the other half being human. Cameoing through a newsfeed found in Parasoul's story mode, she was arrested for the desecration of the memorial grounds created after the attack from the Skullgirl previous to Marie, Queen Nancy Renoir, aka Parasoul's and Umbrella's mother.

Through the bios of other characters, this same memorial is implied to be the source of a coverup Isaac has learned of, with Isaac himself consequently implied to be Scythana's employer, though no direct confirmations have been made on either allegation.

Miscellaneous character details:
- The handcuffs she is wearing are infused with magic that makes them unbreakable even with her Gigan strength.

I wonder if the recurring (if only in two sketches out of a few) theme of Scythana vs Venus is a coincidence/just something Alex felt like drawing, or foreshadowing of something that is/was to come.

Scythana likely works with Isaac and Isaac is apparently meddling in Trinity affairs, so an eventual confrontation between our half-gigan and the goddess(es) does seem quite likely in the story prepared for her.

I would imagine that in a world that gave L0 the ability to add all the characters <if not SG than a sequel>, that the whole Isaac arc would eventually lead to an Isaac/Scy vs. Double/Aeon/Venus fight, if what Isaac found really is that important to the Trinity.

I guess the most reasonable timeline for all this would go as follows:

-Isaac finds the Theonite for his Power Glove time-trippin' gauntlet
-Isaac commissions Scythana to investigate the war memorial, which the Canopy Kingdom considered a serious no no
-Scy gets in a fight with Parasoul and the Egrets, loses, and she gets arrested
-Isaac tries to bust Scy out, but can't once he realizes the Trinity are on his ass for the memorial/his gauntlet/both
-Scy bounces outta jail on her own, her main priority being to presumably either find Isaac and ask him what the hell about not getting her out, or to clear her name about the memorial
-Scy and/or Isaac finally meet up with either PC or Boss Marie
-The two find each other, but then OH SHIT, TRINITY'S HERE
-TRUE BOSS FIGHT! TRINITY VS. TIME SQUAD
-Bittersweet<?>(since there's almost no guarantee of a 100% acceptable conclusion) ending!

is scythana weaker than a normal gigan or is she normal strength for a gigan?
 
That's probably not gonna be known officially for a good bit of time. The only specific Gigans we know about that are still canon are Scy, Grendel, his mom, the Cirque de Cartes' clown and Gilgamesh. Given that Gil is the leader of the entire Gigan nation, and that Grendel is/was a wrestler <and his mom presumably even stronger than him>, it would be unfair to Scy if we were to compare her to them. We also can't really compare Scy to the clown either, as he's purely a backstory-only character currently, with no known combat prowess, though presumably he's also a member of the Medici mafia.
 
My theory on that is that she's potentially stronger. I've talked about this before, but in other media half-blodded beings are normally stronger than full blooded ones. Gohan from DBZ, Inuyahsa from Inuyasha, that Were-pire from Underworld, Blade from Blade, etc. I'm imagining that Scythana will actually be more reminiscent of Inuyasha, what with being halfblooded, and probably feared/shunned by regular humans, with the ability to go "Full Gigan" for certain attacks (Inuyasha had a Demon mode), and she even has something that restrains her strength (Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga (the sword) kept him from using his full strength).

So we're assuming that a pretty big scuffle occurred when Scythana escaped, right? If barely any time had passed since Mary became the Skullgirl and Scythana got arrested, her clothes certainly got damaged by something in the short time frame before she escaped.

Yeah, based on her IGG stub it's pretty safe to assume that "retake her freedom by force" means breaking out of prison. And since she was considered a terrorist and a Gigan that probably means maximum security.
 
So I noticed that Grendel's arm hasn't had a bit of decay after the years Beowulf had kept it as a trophy. Is that because Gigan's naturally don't decay or did Beowulf stuff it?

Since Scythana is half Gigan would that translate into her story? Or would it just be an excuse for super armor in game?

The fact that SG is ending soon, makes me really sad. We'll probably never get to see Scythanas full story or get any more info about her (Alex has been pretty vague about her anyway) and she'll only be reduced to just very brief cameos :C

I wish Alex could make like a comic of some sort.
 
Actually a continuation comic doesn't sound half bad. Plenty of games do that right?

I mean netherrealm studios does it all the time (Injustice and MKX). I think it would be a great way to at least get the story of SG still going. Plus we can see characters who were absent or had very little screen time during the game at least have their story arcs.

Scythana very much included. I really want to know as much about Scythana as we could.

It's probably both, Gigans might decay differently and I imagine Beowulf has it well kept and all that, since otherwise he'd have it stinking up the place

I don't think it would matter too much for Scy tho, sometimes moves have super armor just for the gameplay balance of having a move with super armor. Maybe Grendel was just different, and Scy only being half-Gigan means she's closer to human than giant.

Maybe if we're lucky Robo-Fortune's story mode will be a "are you my mommy?" type where she goes around asking people if they created her. And one scene is her bumping into Isaac, who runs away because Scythana tries to chase him, and then Parasoul chasing Scythana jumps in for the fight.

I just need a voice, dammit!
 
Looking over the talent used already since it's a great chance of the majority of VAs doubling up on roles, I think Danielle would make a pretty great Scy
 
As long as Ms. Fortune's dialogue against her (If she ever comes to be) is: "If you're a jailbird, am I supposed to catch you too?" Then I think we're good.

Here's a random thought that hit me at work yesterday. When Molly get's downed while in her mech suit does the suit explode or persist? Because if the suit stays on the field does Scythana pick up the whole thing or just pluck Molly out of the cockpit?

I think there's just a lotta factors behind it that would determine it. Like how would the pick up corpse thing work in general, would it have varying "weight" levels that make it varied or? Just how big big is her mech, how complicated, you know.

Either way it probably costs less to just have her pick Molly out of the cockpit so I'd go with that if I was making the game, but we all know Lab Zero's tendency to go above and beyond lol.
 
I personally found the throwing mechanic kinda odd. its a usless mechanic if you were to play solo. now if it was more of pick up a random object ah la streets of rage with it being a random pickup then that could probably work somehow.

I think the idea was that if you come in first or solo you get a random object to pick up and whack people with. Plus it's only really useless if both people decide to go solo tbh.

Ironically I thought she would go well with Adam if he had his "three characters share a threeway split lifebar" haha
 
I'd be perfectly ok with Scy getting a free body when she gets a down on the opponent in 1v1
 
Didn't they say at one point that solo Scythana would have a fake body to utlize like a Cody knife?
 
I dont think so. if they did it would probably be in the move description.

Yeah that's what I concluded too. But I also imagined having two types of Molly's to wield. Regular and mech and how that would make matchups different.

RE: Solo vs Solo Scythana body
We spent most of the last thread speculating how to give her access to her body throw in a solo situation. Everything from random Egrets at the beginning of the match (ala cody's knife) To getting one after downing your opponent once. Nothing was ever said on stream by Mike from what I remember. He just worked out the body grab mechanic as a wonderful prototype.

Scythana/Adam has been my headcanon team for years now. They literally are the perfect match for each other going off raw descriptions. Extra manpower with a duo's damage from Adam. And plenty of fodder for an anchor Scythana.

That was something that we've talked about in here before (I'm still down for it being a super where she pulls a pipe out of the ground or something), but it's never been officially said no.

I could have sworn that snebody got asked this on salty cupcakes at one point and that was the answer we got. I could've sworn that was the answer.
 
So... Yeah, I really wish she could have made it in... Oh well...

Her design is cool, I really wonder about her backstory. Being half-Gigan can not be easy on her growing up.

I gotta wonder... Is her mom or dad the Gigan...?
 
Welcome to the bastion for Scythana fans. We have punch in the corner but the cake is a little spoiled from age.

I haven't thought about the logistics of Scythana's parents but I want to say the mother is likely the Gigan assuming that even a half-Gigan infant is still larger than a normal human.
 
To this very day, I still feel very crushed that Scythana didn't win.

I know she didn't have that much of a chance, but I really wish she could have been real.

Who knows, with enough support Skullgirls 2 can become a reality and she might be there! I think she's a good contender for it tbh
