Report Skullgirls 2nd Encore (Vita/PS4) to be published by Arc System Works in Japan!

That's something I notice with people in NA when reviewing this game. They tend to spend only a day or so actually playing the game before handing out a score
Wow, a day is pretty generous. Meanwhile, a lot of Steam "reviews" aren't even arsed to put in 3 hours. A dude plays for 2 hours and complains about needing to pay for DLC, another dude plays for 5 minutes and rants about not being able to use his mouse, and then 10 other guys play for 20 seconds and talk about boobs.

Oh, and don't forget the people that put in 0 seconds and complain about censorship.

WHAT? You mean to tell me that SkullGirls does not allow the mouse to be used? Oh come on... I mean all fighting games now use the mouse for inputs. It is the best thing out there. Justin Wong uses a mouse when he plays SF4. SG is behind the curve, come on step it up.

:PUN:... oh man, the internet is a wonderful and terrible place both at the same time. All we can do is sit back and enjoy the ride.

So japanese players have found a way to get Arcade Sticks to work on the PSVita TV version of SG.

This adapter called the TITAN One

Btw is VitaTV same specs as Vita or slightly more powerful?
Guessing not right?

Honestly, you have to admit that there are some fair, negative reviews that just talk about some issues they found in the game and why they dropped it, and not from people with 2 hours in.

I don't want to derail the thread, but the long combos in SG are something that turned me off.

God, I hate the voices but I would legitimately consider buying this just for beowulf.
THAT HOWL THOUGH
IT'S SO HORRIBLE
IT'S LIKE SOME GUY WITH A FLU CAME IN AND DID EVERYTHING
WHAT'S THERE NOT TO LOVE
AAAHHHHHH

aside from the lovable Beowulf, I was convinced that the atmosphere around japan consists majorly of helium.
My biggest concern with it is the lack of... prolonged sounds...? Like, it should be "TYMPANI DRIIIIIIIVE" not "TYMPANI DRIVE." same applies to a lot of other stuffs.

Japanese people love that prolonged sounds, they adapt the dialogues for Japans Markets and thats its clever.

Generally I think the the JP voices are well done but... Why is Japanese Sekhmet a guy?

It's all super great, but i noticed a few things
- SBO's prolonged echo is still Lauren's?
- Did Band not do TUBA TUBA TUBA TUBA until the last hit?
- the NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN is still Kimlinh's, but the Det Mode timer voices are new
- BEOWULF IS PERFECT
- Sekhmet is a guy???

Sekhmet is still female, just probably has a female with a low voice. There are Japanese female voice actors that have masculine sounding voices. Take the Japanese dub of Garnet for example.
Man...that reminded me that they never gave us new "Nyan"s.
Those "nyan"s are one of my favorite lines.

Pretty good, but understandable would sound weird to a lot of people that were used to the original English voices for years. What is great about these voices is this one covers every character rather then only a few characters getting alt voices [Parasoul/Big Band/Painwheel/Peacock/Double] like before.

Do we know if you play against someone online with these voices that you hear them while your character is in English like how other fighters online do it?

Also never got the Fukua CV= ???. Is it the one voicing Filia or someone else entirely?

yeah i'm not a fan of the jp voices. what i think really makes the eng voices great was that they all had a really different tone and weren't the standard anime voices you always here.

From what Mike said earlier Fukua didn't get any exclusive voices so once again they just reused Filia.

I think it might be a joke at the expense of games like BlazBlue where they hid at first VA's for Hakumen and Nu-13 to hide their relations to some other characters. There were also "???" in place of VA names.

- Did Band not do TUBA TUBA TUBA TUBA until the last hit?
- Sekhmet is a guy???
The Tubas were so closely overlayed that they cut themselves off. So, it turned into Tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-TU-BA!!

Sekhmet is voiced by Wakako Matsumoto (Kujira). She voices Orochimaru in Naruto. Her voice is pretty ambiguous.

Aw I thought it was Freeza's voice actor. It sounded so much like them. That would have been rad.

Dreams crushed.

I really like Sekhmet's JP voice. It's less screechy, more ancient evily.

ArcSys (?) did an excellent job with casting!

Guy plays through a bunch of story modes. All of original 8 except Double

sigh... if only Mike was able to do Soivet Z voice in Japanese. I mean I know he does the JoJo Line... but it's not enough.

I will likely do partial JP and Eng.

Any idea if the skullheart box will be rerun for Emglish limited release?

MediaCreate sale #s posted.
http://gematsu.com/2016/04/media-create-sales-41116-41716

SG 2nd Encore [PS4] ranked at #17 on debut week with 2678 copies sold. SG 2nd Encore [Vita] didn't sell enough to make top 20 which implies it sold less then 2151 copies that was at #20. Honestly weak sales week all around when 3rd place barely cracked 8k. Note this doesn't include PSN or LE sales.

Here are Famitsu #s too

http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1209770

SG 2nd Encore [PS4] ranked #17 on debut week with 2362 sales with 40-60% sell through
SG 2nd Encore [Vita] ranked #26 on debut week with 1793 sales with 40-60% sell through

Again does not include LE or PSN.

On face value this looks pretty bad, but don't know the specifics of other details that would make this not look so bad.

American made Indie Fighter making top 20 in Japan on PS4 and PS Vita version at 26th.

That's really not that bad, considering games like SG and even MVC don't due well in Japan.

SG will catch on though, pretty sure ArcSys will help this game blow up.

Hello, I was wondering if dual audio(English and Japanese) is available in the Japanese(physical) version of SkullGirls 2nd Encore? And if Italian text is in the Japanese version as well?

I got a friend in Italy who wants SG, but prefers Physical and wants to know if it had these.

I couldn't find info on this.

Both English and Japanese voices are in the physical version, as well as English text, I don't know about Italian. Voice packs are missing though, if I recall correctly.

Those numbers do not include the Limited Edition ones, either, from what I've been told.

All text langauges are in all versions of the game - PS4 even lets you set it in the game, rather than relying solely on the system language setting.
Dual audio is there, you can change all voices/story voice in the settings.
Voice packs are missing though, if I recall correctly.
Voice packs are present for everyone, and you can still pick the (English) alt voice for a given character even if they are set to Japanese voice.

I misread it then, I'm sorry, didn't mean to misinform.

I really want to thank you AdenPhoenix and Mike Z for the super quick reply. sending him the link to this thread as I type.

Forgive me if I have to post on it but I have to at least get this out of the way. It's said that Arc System Works is publishing the game in Japan but I've been hearing that some people on YouTube are getting hit with copyright strikes by Arc System Works for uploading story mode footage of the game... the Japanese version and it's also affecting English versions too.

I've dealt with this situation before and because of that incident, I had to remove all things relating to their games such as Blazblue which I did. However, to find that now they're going after Skullgirls too is messed up.

Mike Z, if you're there, I need at least your input on this because someone got in touch with me saying that they got hit with copyright strikes because they uploaded the Japanese version of the game. If you want to know, I only did the US version. The one you guys released, not the one by ASW. I need to know your stance on this because I'm afraid I may get affected as with many others.

Respond if you can.

Yep and thing is, Arc System Works don't own Skullgirls. They only publish it in Japan. The good news is that I only did the one that was released by Mike Z and his crew but I'm afraid I may get affected as well.

I don't know how copyright works in video games but maybe ASW has rights to the JP version(?)
