I didn't notice the lab thing, but the Empty Cathedral probably should have the its art changed for the fights in it during story mode.
It's the Stage Select previews. I should have been clearer about that. (.__.)
Again, Labs have the same preview, Cathedrals have different ones.

Maybe when they add the playable Marie, the boss fight could have two stages (vs PC and NPC versions) and the first one would be in the dark catacomb ruins. Or the second, whichever seems more dramatic.

Of course, I doubt they'd ever make any stage THAT DARK.

It would totally make certain character colors hilariously invisible. (Painwheel #7 and Fukua #6 for example)

But its eerie that it just looks so PERFECT despite being a glitch.

I literally just saw it on twitter and was going to post it in this thread, it would be really cool if this were an actual alternate version of Final Atrium.

On the note of Final Atrium... that stage has always sort of bugged me because it's kind of hard to tell what it actually is.
For a long time I thought it was just some weird alternate dimension craziness with some broken bits of the Cathedral in it because Skullheart or something. I know now that it's still in the catacombs or in the main Cathedral, but the roof has been blown off and you can see the moon above.

I wish it was a little toned down to make that come across better.

I think they'll probably fix that since I noticed every story ends with Valentine/Double having taunting dialogue against everyone during the day but then spooky nighttime battles.

Render confirmed that they're working on fixin' this. So yay!

On the note of Final Atrium... that stage has always sort of bugged me because it's kind of hard to tell what it actually is.
Judging by the pre-battle cutscene, the catacombs appear to be below the Cathedral (that much is obvious). What I think happens is that when Marie (who's chilling at the Catacombs doing crossword puzzles or whatever until challenger arrives) goes berserk, everything blows up and the battle takes place high up (maybe even at a point higher than the Cathedral's top floor) atop a web of ghostly vines.
To give you a comparison, think of that stage from the Capcom CPSIII JoJo where the fight takes place atop a web created by Kakyoin's Hierophant Green.

Except for Big Band, who Zoidberged out of there at the end like a reasonable person.
 
To be honest, after a better look at it (grinding my Big Band combo there), I'm starting to have my doubts as well... <:3
Mainly because those walls in the back look like they're from the catacombs, where caskets are placed. Oh well, maybe those got uprooted too. I think it's best we just Stay Calm and Rule of Cool.

Yep. You can see the interior walls of the upper cathedral in the back there behind the catacombs walls.
And yeah, as Big Band's ending shows, they're still in the building itself when he books it outta there.

I actually like the Final Atrium as a stage, but it's definitely hard to tell what's going on with it. Ideal world I'd like an In Between stage where you just fight in the catacombs with some of the glowy Skullheart veins everywhere, then you beat Marie and she triggers Boss Mode and the stage explodes into the above.

(And yes, I am well aware that this is all fluff stuff and I'd rather the budget go to places that are actually useful. This is purely idle discussion, yadda yadda.)
 
I don't know if this has been brought up, but in Squigly's and, more recently, in Big Band's Story mode, Medici Tower is shown being least twice as tall as the next highest building with Lorenzo's office at the very top being shown in Rooftops Assault.

So how are any structures/billboards visible from Lorenzo's office? Its way too high up to see anything.

So how are any structures/billboards visible from Lorenzo's office? Its way too high up to see anything.

I kinda expect an alt of Streets of New Meridian, since it's the closest to Filia's stage. Not that I'd want it though, it's among my least fav stages. An alternate Maplecrest, however...

The new stage's theme will be the previously unused track first heard in Fukua's trailer. Calling it.

Fukua's stage should be in LAB ZERO not LAB EIGHT or Maplecrest, maybe it could show some stuff from the beginning of Painwheel's story-mode in more detail. Could maybe show some Robo-Fortune parts or some cloning facilities too.

Maybe he has posters of billboards stuck to the inside of his windows...

I personally do hope it's a remixed new meridian as it was my first original fav stage in this game and I want a remix of that stage but remixed iono how....
 
I changed my mind. Fukua's stage should be Streets of New Meridian, but replace every NPC with a trash can.
I think it'll be Raining New Meridian. The idea has been around since Squigly's concept stage.
 
I hope it is the same track from Fukua's trailer, that song was awesome

I do support the rain for meridian, but I wonder what else could be possible to fit Fukua, also I would loooooove the music they used from her reveal trailer...although ironically I kinda see such music used for the elevator tower stage ^^;
 
Not really, no. MikeZ did make a 3D platformer type tech demo like Streets of Rage using the SG engine (basically all he had to do was make it so pressing up and down made you move back and forth instead of jumping and crouching), so the SG engine is fully equipped to make a game of that nature, but these stages are not designed to be walked around on.

Eliza's new stage is pretty hype in motion

I especially like that "Hail From the Past"-esque theme song.
 
Not sure how I feel about the new music for Glass Canopy... It's not my favorite stage anymore, guess i'll have to find a new training stage. I honestly really enjoyed "In Just a Moments Time" on that stage but I can respect the work that went into the new song, I just feel like it sounds more like it fits in a circus stage.

WTF did you seriously just call a waltz clown music

I think it's one of the better SG tracks.

I hope we can get Youtube clips/audio files of the two new tracks soon. I plan on keeping them on loop for a while.
 
Augh the music makes me wish I had been able to help in the IGG Campagn. That physical soundtrack would have been my main goal to get
 
Maplecrest is probably the best stage in the game for me. The stage itself is very beautiful and the music is just lovely. I also love River King Casino too. Grand Cathedral (empty) is also very cool ever since they updated it.

Love the stages in this game!

Perhaps they do. OOOH SPOOKY.
Anyway, between Robo-Fortune and Fukua and now Nightmare Crest, they're really promoting Brain Drain.

Maybe in Skullgirls 2 he'll be playable, right?

It's something we always wanted to do, even in the original release. When we decided to do a Fukua story mode, we asked Willy if he'd be able to knock this out, and he was. Then Vince offered up a remixed theme.

The whole thing was pretty spontaneous and organic, and was done in like less than a week?
