More excited for the dude with the bucket helm cuz if they add in the right armors a solaire cosplay may finally be possible. Also the bow and arrow looks kick ass and I hope to god it fits with a skill build.
First in-home gameplay for DS3 is happening in the form of the Beta, which is unfortunately coming to a close after three days of stress-testing. If you are interested to see how DS3 plays, here's three hours of raw footage courtesy of Fextralife:
There's another three-hour DS3 video on their channel as well, if that's not enough for you. Also, with the Beta about to end, I'm willing to bet that a few DS content creators are going to be posting stuff, so stay tuned if you watch them.
Looks preeeeeety good, kinda sad I missed the sign-up. Hopefully they do this kind of thing again.
I'm attempting an SL1 run in Dark Souls:Prepare to Die Edition. Just killed the goat and dogs so anything else I need to know when attempting this kind of run?
Get lucky. I got the black knight sword from the first of those assholes. Soon as I could world it I just killed everyone in one hit. Many many bosses became the biggest of jokes.
Ya know what pisses me off,
other then all of ds2?
Demon's Souls still hasn't been remastered or ported. Why would they leave the best souls game on ps3.
The new Boodborne DLC comes out in 2 days (!), so what should you do to prepare?
1) Download the new patch, obviously. It's about 10 gigs for all you metered connection people, and is available right now.
2) If you are still at the end of your normal playthrough and haven't beaten the final boss to activate NG+, then A) Good job, you've made better life choices than me, and B) Just follow this handy guide to the DLC location.
3) If you're making a new character or are in NG+, then you're going to need to beat Vicar Amelia and look at the skull to advance the game to night. After that, just follow the guide listed above (Or here too, I guess)
So, what exactly can be found in the mythical Patch 1.07? Well...
- A new covenant called the 'Federation', based on PvP, located in the Forgotten Woods shack.
- More NPC summons.
- A new bell that allows you to summon NPC co-op partners in Chalice Dungeons.
- Changes to Chalice Dungeon Glyphs that make it easier to Co-Op and PvP in them.
- When you search for multiplayer, you can see the phantoms of other players searching for multiplayer.
- Unspecified 'Matchmaking Improvements'.
- Most of the actual content in the expansion (The patch is 10 gigs, the DLC download is ~16 megs.
If you pre-order the DLC now, you get a new theme. It looks like this:
Been playing Bloodborne a lot ever since I picked up a ps4 for Christmas.
I think I like Dark Souls lore/mythology/ending a bit better overall*, but Bloodborne is the winner for me in terms of sheer gameplay. Most of the other Souls games are 9/10's for me on that front, but Bloodborne is a real 10/10. I consider it in that rare rank of "desert island games".
I like it so much I've started working on a no-death run of it. So far I've been able to make it past the first 4 bosses (Cleric Beast, Gascgoine, Blood Starved Beast, and Amelia) pretty easily. I haven't actually tried Shadows of Yharnum yet, but I think I should be able to get them with some flame resistant armor and some skill. Gonna be intense though.
I would recommend this play style to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. Makes boss fights incredibly intense every time, and adds an interesting element of planning and resource management to the hunt.
*I feel like they really captured lightning in a bottle with Dark Souls 1's story, it was the only one that really moved me when I finished it. Although Bloodborne has been growing on me a lot with replay these days. Some of the alt interpretations of characters and story are very interesting.
I haven't played Bloodborne in a year, been meaning to get the Old Hunters DLc but haven't really got it.
It's only gonna take longer since I've been told you REALLY wanna play Old Hunters on a fresh run as New Game + is unrelentingly brutal on Old Hunters, can anyone confirm?

I played Old Hunters on NG+ at SL 150 and only two of the DLC bosses gave me difficulties. I ended up using some of the new weapons and managed to beat them though, it was so much fun! Old Hunters is definitely worth it!
I was told that on a new game, Old Hunters was balanced to be played around the time you're entering the Nightmare of Mensis.
I only had a level 30 character on hand (from a previous, failed no death run), and gradually worked my way through both the dlc and main game. I was able to reach the first boss of the dlc at 30, but actually fighting him was something I put off till about level 60-70 or so, after playing through most of the normal mid game content. After that, the dlc felt juuuuuust right in difficulty. Can't speak for NG+, as I don't bother with it too much (I prefer speed running or no death running the NG).
So ok I can play it from my NG+ file I should be fine then
From NG+ experience,
Most of the areas and encounters are completely fine on NG+, aside from maybe one or two rooms in the whole thing, it's fine.
Bosses, on the other hand...
Depending on the way you play and what weapons you use, the first boss will either be nothing to write home about or make you want to put your PS4 through a wall and a bullet through your mouth. Free advice from someone who was there for, like, 2 weeks, just... Don't use the BoM. It's not worth it.
2nd boss is weird, but not too tough when you figure out it's tells.
Third boss is like Gehrman, if you found him tough, you'll find them tough, too.
Final boss is insane in the way that only BloodBorne bosses can be, you'll hit him twice then get insta-gibbed before you even new he started attacking.
Secret bonus boss is really hard unless you use one specific weapon, then he's easy.
Normally I'd warn you to be advised and maybe not do it on NG+ unless you've got a really good handle on your preferred weapon, but I did it and I'm shit, so eh, can't be that hard.
I've been kinda spoiled about a lot of stuff in DaS3 and anyone who's been keeping an eye on all the stuff coming out of the Japan release has to tell me:
Started the game, beat the first boss and got to the rest area with a couple characters, going into this game blind was a good idea, I didn't know that the Bandit Knife gives you the Bloodborne dash and that certain weapons version of two handing is dual wielding.
From what prerelease things I've seen, a majority of the weapons (In the early game) are just weapons ripped from 1+2, and the new ones are a bit more fantasy than 1 but less then 2.
