Souls Series and Bloodborne

Oh man, this gif takes me back. That reminds me, I should check if Emarrel is making any DS2 content.

Balder he's not threatening you, he's encouraging you to do business. Gavlan's a bro.

Seriously though, anyone who's thinking about farming for multiple Blue Flames, don't bother. Yes, dual wielding and enchanting Blue Flames is pretty badass, but in combat it's not very functional. Their move set isn't that great and they don't scale very well with any stats. I found myself casting spells from a distance way more often than actually hitting things directly.

I realized this when I got the Espada Ropera and the Royal Dirk from Chancellor Wellager. When I tried out these new weapons I was so surprised at how natural it felt to fight with them. The Espada gave me a new defensive option other than rolling, which is parrying. I've actually reallocated my stats to suit this new realization.

Basically what I'm saying is fight they way that feels natural, not the way that looks coolest.

Turns out that yes, Emarrel is making DS2 content. Hey Denizen, I remember you speaking of your aspirations to be a sneaky chameleon mage, so I think you'll enjoy this.

This is fantastic, it's exactly what I want to do. Unfortunately I've switched back to Pyromancies since I decreased my intelligence by 10 points, but I can still change into objects with a special item. Does anybody know where I can buy a limitless amount of Silver Talismans?

Welcome to the Kiln, bitch!

While I do see the appeal, I'm not cut out for these shenanigans. I'm a Sunbro at heart. All about that jolly cooperation. \[T]/

Titchy Gren of the Bloodbros has a unlimited stock of those. 1,300 a piece.

Worth looking into for knowing those things: http://darksouls2.wikidot.com/

I gotta say, the Brotherhood of Blood is tempting me.

Is it possible to have free-for-all fights in the BoB arenas?

goddamn that last one is awesome

And I already upped nearly all of my favorite Dark Souls funsies in the Funny pics thread. Heck! My first post there was with a DS gallery... <:3

Anyway, simple as it is, this one remains one of my all time favorites. Not even Chaos Storm burns like this! :3

Have a bonus Priscilla-chan 4koma manga.

EDIT: just beat Smelter Demon with my SL40 INT build. Lucatiel tanked it throughout the entire fight and survived with 1/3 HP. So yeah, inheriting her gear just got VERY doable.

Nashandra's a bitch.
Just pop human Effigies and destroy her. The fight is kind of mediocre for a final boss imo she isn't that hard....I was dissapointed. At least with Gwyn I got a fun sword fight, with her its either cheese her with ranged attacks or run up and smack her in the face occasionally dodging her slow as fuck melee attacks and popping an effigy every now and then....

Finally got the mad warrior set, and the berserker blade. Got DAMN it's tedious to get.

I beat her yesterday dude, but thanks for the advice anyway.

I'm always going to keep my over-leveled main character, but I'm thinking of starting the game over with a strength build. I'm gonna call it the Faraam File.

Who is the best DS 2 Waifu? It's between the Emerald Herald and Lucatiel for me.

No one is hotter than the Emerald Herald, don't even try to argue against this fact.
Undead, please! Get your facts straight.

And Miss Pyro Boobies also heavily contests that statement.

Speaking of the desert sorceresses, here's something of a headscratcher - they're from Jugo which is a hot desert land...and that is also where Benhart is from. o_0
I mean, the last thing he looks is someone from a desert country.
Nonetheless, we REKT the Looking Glass Knight hawt dayummnnn! He survived with like 5% HP but he really helped. The AI completely prioritizes AI allies giving casters all the time in the world to pew pew pew from the other side of the screen. Seems there's a lot of bad blood inside that disc. :3

And one last note about the Old Ones (as I'm going around with my second build, I'm paying more attention to dialogue) - Wellager clearly states Vendrick founded Drangleic over their stomped asses.

After killing Nashandra I've moved on to the world of PvP. First I tried the Bell Keepers Covenant, it was kind of fun but I don't like the risk involved with losing. I wish that Belfry Luna and Belfry Sol were "Safe Areas" where I wouldn't have to worry about losing souls and Humanity upon death.

I decided to change to the Brotherhood of Blood, the matchmaking is so much more simple and orderly, like an FPS. The only downside is that there's no surprises in battle and I can't fight multiple opponents at once.

I want to have consistent three way melees, where can I find that?

...the Belfries. *poker face*
I mean, that's THE place to gank and git ganked. It's basically Darkroot Forest 2.0.
Or go to Pharros and Grave of Saints to get the Ratbros on you.

As for loss, just put a Ring of Life Protection. Repair only costs 3000. Hell! I got 3 with me.

I do the same thing with the rings, but it just gets annoying to have to warp back to Majula every time they all break.

I just think the Belfries could have been done better.

Not gonna argue with either of those.

But Belfries are the PvP hot spot. And if you want 2 x 1, it's the place. I suggest you "clean" Sol (ya know, kill the AI enemies until they stop respawning) and just hang around waiting for Bellbros to come at you. I say Sol, because the area's layout is a lot more comfortable for fighting than Luna's bullshit cheese floors stair-a-palooza.
Alternatively, try the chasms. There's a fair chance of being invaded there. In fact, it's the only place I got jumped besides the Belfries.

Yeah I hear that, I like the small size of the place but the vertical movement is so annoying.

Now unlike the arena in the BoB you actually get rewarded with souls for killing in the Belfries right?

I think so. I can't find anything on the wikidot to confirm it though, but that always was the rule. I don't think it changed.

Another thing: if you haven't already, buy the Red String from Titchy Gren. It increases the odds of being invaded. (Which also happens a lot in the Belfries, as in, get jumped by Bellbros AND Bloodbros.)

What is the agreed upon SL for PVP now? Cause I keep hearing different things. Anybody know?

My whole play through I've just leveled up like a madman, but I think I've stopped around SL 170.

According to the Wikidot:
The suggested level ranges haven't been thoroughly established yet either, but asides from occasional PvP that occurs while progressing through the game, a lot of people finalize their builds in the ballpark of ~120 to ~150 for routine PvP.

Now what defines routine PvP?

And one last note about the Old Ones (as I'm going around with my second build, I'm paying more attention to dialogue) - Wellager clearly states Vendrick founded Drangleic over their stomped asses.
Here's the thing though, people in the game refer to three separate groups as the Old Ones. Once with Wellager stating who Vendrick beat, again with Straid who describes The Witch of Izalith and the rest of the Lord Soul holders as "going to war with the Old Ones" ie Dragons, and finally the ones we find and fight in the game. I think that "Old One" is simply a term to refer to the current holders of the Lord Souls, or whatever ancient powerful beasts that rule over the land at the time.

I think the current Old Ones may have been former allies, or at least neutral to Vendrick, similar to the roles that Seath, Four Kings, Witch of Izalith, and Nito held in the previous game. Mainly because how could Vendrick have killed The Old Iron King, when it's stated that Mr. Iron was slaughtered by The Smelter Demon?

I remember that in dark souls 1 someone told me to stop at lvl 20 or 30 to avoid being invaded by someone too powerful... something like that

I hope I'm not too high... I'm finally happy with my build now....

I might be too high, but I'm not seeing any adverse effects from it.

I'm satisfied with my level 150 character and I'm finding plenty of players to summon/invade/whatever. I'm going to be in trouble when I start trying to get the exclusive spell from the Bell covenant though, these people are going to know what they're doing :P

I just learned that in order to get the Flame Weapon spell I need to beat The Lost Sinner +1. Channeling fire into my weapon is my thing, so I have get it. I have heard BAD things about this buffed up boss, any tips on how to beat her?

By the way, I don't plan on doing New Game Plus with this character, the most I'll do is bonfire Ascetics. Are there any downsides to this plan?

Iconoclast has a new game + video of Lost Sinner, if that's what you mean

His Strat:
"The idea here is to use Lucatiel as bait. After The Lost Sinner starts focusing on her, you should be able to move behind her and get a few clean shots in. Once she's down to ~60% health, two pyromancers will spawn from both sides of the arena. Kill them while Lucatiel keeps the Sinner busy. Once they're down you should be in the clear.

If you're having trouble keeping Lucatiel alive, try using the Redeye Ring until the pyromancers are about to spawn. It should make the Sinner attack you the entire time.

Sometimes Lucatiel will die before she reaches the boss, in which case I simply ignored the pyromancers and circle-strafed around The Lost Sinner, hitting her whenever I could. Not sure if that's the best strategy, but it seems fairly safe until you get guard-crushed."

He also has videos of all the bosses done in Champions Covenant with soul level 1 (bar one I think).

I need to download the latest updates, cause I'm still on ver. 1.00, where the Sinner can shave off +70% of my hp every blow :c

Something weird just happened, I was exploring Brightcove Tseldora a bit and I found an Estus Flask Shard.
This didn't make any sense to me since I was sure that MY flask was at maximum strength, +5 with 12 charges. Sure enough when I took it to the Herald I got a message saying that my Flask was at maximum strength.
So why is it that I have an extra shard now?

You can find the shards and bone dust again on NG+. Just sell them to Gavlan for some sweet Wheel and Deal.

I'm not on NG+ though, I also didn't use a Bonfire Ascetic in that area, My guess is that the game just gives you an extra or it's a bug.

Strange. As far as I know there is only 12 shards in the game, but who knows.

Wait a minute...

12 shards, but the Estus Flask only goes up to 12 charges, but the flask already starts out with 1, so 12 shards is the correct amount. I guess the game just has an extra.

Well derp me and call me a doofus, it does make sense then lol. I guess they just put them in to give players a better chance of getting to 12 flasks. I ended my initial run with only 10, wasn't aware of the others.
