should I get AE even though it is on GFWL which is going down soon, or should I wait for Ultra which doesnt use GFWL?

only get ae if the price you would pay to upgrade plus the price of ae combined would be less than getting ultra as a standalone. If it would cost more, just get ultra.

Well, I mean, that depends on if you wanna wait until August to play SF. Also, I can't remember, but there was something about getting all costumes if you upgrade after owning the previous edition or something. If it goes on sale before then, I'd definitely recommend it.
 
I thought AE was being transfered.
 
There was an article saying that for people with AE 2012 there will be an option to upgrade to Ultra for something like $15. So I guess the logical answer is that you should buy it if it's on sale for more than $15 off RRP (I'd suggest through steam, because that's where Ultra will be), or however much else you're willing to spend.
 
I just really hope getting Ultra Standalone means I get all the Alternate Costumes.
I read somewhere that was the case?
I mean I don't raelly care but it'd be a nice add-on.
Playing as Seth with pants I mean.

if you preorder it you get special costumes for the new characters, but I'm sure the costumes will be available for purchase after a set amount of time. and I doubt it. but you can buy costumes from vanilla, super or ae and still use them in ultra most likely.

you can still buy the vanilla costumes for super cheap though. :/ and you didnt get the vanilla costumes in super when you upgrade from vanilla so I don't see why that would change.

The disc version comes with all of the alternate costumes currently out. Pre-ordering gets you a costume for the five newcomers.
 
oh it does come with all of the costumes? well now I'm embarassed.
 
Ok, let's start sourcing our comments if possible, just because there's seems to be some conflicting info out there.

It's seems you are right, though:
If you have Super Street Fighter 4 or Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition you can download Ultra Street Fighter 4 as a £10.99 / €14.99 / $14.99 digital upgrade for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early June. The PC digital upgrade and the PC full digital bundle will both be available in August 2014.

Also in August the PS3 and Xbox 360 retail versions and full download version of the game will be released for £29.99 / €39.99 / $39.99. If you buy the PS3 or Xbox 360 retail version, or PS3, Xbox 360 or PC full digital bundle you get all previously-released costumes for the series.

So basically, it seems if you buy USF4 as a whole new game you get the DLC, but if you just buy the cheap upgrade you don't.

EDIT: Looks like the retail ('full' Disc) version is going to be released several months after the digital version. I'll post if I can find a reputable source.

It's in the announcement trailer.

It says "Includes over $40 of DLC."


I couldn't find the video, but I also remember seeing a video where a Capcom rep confirmed that the costumes would be on the disc release. (It was a backroom shakycam video taken at the EVO where USF4 was announced. The one with the slideshow presentation.)

EDIT: Found it! It seems you can get the costumes with the digital version too as long as you buy the $39.99 version.

I am totally fine with that.
I need to ration my money in the Summer, and that coming out at the end is pretty perfect.

I imagine it would be around the same time as they announce the release date, so probably by the end of the month? That's just a guess, though.
 
Sucks that the bonus costumes apparently only come with the full game purchase and not the upgrade, but I've bought this game 3 times already and am going to be upgrading both PS3 and PC versions and Capcom's gotten more money out of me than they deserve already.

My post, #818. The source doesn't say it specifically, but the wording heavily implies that it's the case.

Feels stupid right? we that supported their game multipla times receive LESS goods than any newcomer.

IMO they should give some bonus for people that already bought the game and is getting the upgrade... like exclusive outfits (they have nothing else they could add anyway). instead, people that's buying the game for the first time is getting all the goods
 
I dont see it as a problem. they've been out for a LONG while, and even the 3DS did this and no one complained. I'm not surprised especially considering some of those costumes are a bitch to get, not to mention the fact that some of the newest (2 for the new characters in AE each) are about a year old.

I don't fuckin' care at all. people who bought like one costume set now can get ALL of them free and some of the costumes like the Vanilla sets are a total BITCH to get.

I wouldn't us the word hype, but I'm interested to see what the character's playstyle is, even though I almost certainly won't use them. I'll also be glad for this to be over.

cuz I want the possibility of Decapre having the chance to branch out and be her own character. but I would be happier if they got Lita from Delta Red considering Delta Red got their asses handed to them all the time in the comics and it would be great to see at least ONE of them brought in as a playable character to make up for that. PLUS, Lita has been in a lot of Cammy's intros and endings in the SF4 games, something Yun and Yang shared in Chun's intros and endings.

there is NO indication of the lore in the comics that Lita would fight ANYTHING like Cammy, especially considering that Lita fights with a big ass knife like a sword.

yeah but when you have characters like Wolf Hawkfield, Chief Thunder, Nightwolf, and Julia Chang, T.Hawk just seems like the plain yogurt of the bunch...

especially against Wolf "I beat the main character in the third game and am returning because of visions of armageddon" Hawkfield.
