Street Fighter V

Really informative post, thanks. I didn't even realize SF4 had a guts-esque system.
Have to admit that I only noticed it very recently myself when I finally started figuring out how to pull off real combos and saw the damage numbers in training mode.

Where did you get those numbers from?

the damage reduction in SFIV is

95% if below 50% HP

90% if below 25% HP

75% if below 10% HP

No change inbetween. Just launch training mode and watch the damage scaling number.

weird I guess my memory on that was a bit rusty. Thanks for correcting me.

English footage of Cammy, Vega and Necalli.

FBA still has Izuna Drop, I wondered since it wasn't in the trailer and he got that new command grab, c.HP appears to be his crush counter. Standing V-Trigger wiffs crouching opponents.

Necalli seems to stutter in all his lines so far, just a note. Cammy says "allons-y" during Hooligan.

uh... Vega has one eye opened constantly when he is being picked up by Necalli in his win animation. Kinda looks like he's dead due to he fact that Vega isn't breathing or blinking, he's just kinda ragdolled.

Necalli's V-Skill nullifies projectiles. So, everyone but Ken can use their V-Skill against projectiles in some way.

I was more bothered by him being on the ground at all.

Also, have they said anything about stage interactions? So far that's only for the Chinese stage and I wonder if it will stay that way, the New Zealand stage clearly has a tunnel/mine on one side and the London stage has, what I think is a bathroom open on one end, but I've not seen any interaction, so I'm curious if they're just not done or if China is the Fetus of God for this game.

New Zealand's probably hasn't been implemented yet.

That said, I don't see every stage having some sort of interaction.

New Zealand was never fully implemented. They haven't even joined the two main pieces together yet.

So Cammy's Face got an update in the Vega build. Either that or the stage lighting has received a major update. Old build on the left and updated one on the right.

She looks pretty different but maybe its just the lighting? Its kind of difficult to tell.

I think the lighting on the London stage specifically is just kinda bad and makes everything look washed out and dull.

Isn't the 2nd screenshot on the London stage though? Its a bit difficult to tell.

I mean its certainly possible that there's been no change to the character and they've just updated their lighting engine or whatever.

I like the shirt.

Now, when Urien keeps his suit on for battle? That's a problem.

IGN did another interview, just some Vega and Necalli gameplay. Vega "gains combos" when he puts the claw away, and there will be things like the noodles (specified Birdie's CA when it KOs) but they're just going to let people find them. Necalli flat out confirmed Aztec for those who were holding out. Vega's job/affiliation is listed as one of the four kings of Shadaloo, so, that could be a hint storywise and maybe rosterwise (I hope not).

That shit's one of my many aesthetics.
I did a report on Montezuma and the Aztecs in 4th grade, him and his boys were the coolest shit to me

So maybe I'm last to know, but I just realized the China stage doesn't actually get bigger, which makes a lot more sense.

Capcom I'm trying to get excited about your game but you're making it difficult

I could have phrased it better. Chun's certainly isn't a good tool for it, it's just possible to do, Birdie has his own projectile which will roll under projectiles and trip the opponent (Necalli's V-skill could hit it though, I'd imagine), Cammy's is a dodge with very tight timing from what I hear if you're trying to dodge projectiles, Necalli's would require timing and the ability to judge distance. Nash, Bison and Ryu are the ones blatantly tooled for projectiles though they have other effects, Nash's is an attack, Bison can use his on any single hit attack (and is a very good projectile on its own), parry is parry. Though other than parry any multi-hit projectile will still hit you.

Is more something in the lines of: you have the tool, but you need to know when and how to use it.

Than just: meh, whatever, fireball is useless.

From the video it looks mad easy for Necalli to ground pound a fireball on reaction

Probably, my description of it was basically "if you know how to actually play fighting games, it works".

We don't know if it works on multi-hit projectiles as far as I'm aware, though.

Tru, also all this anti fireball stuff is less discouraging if they put in a zoner who zones using something other than fireballs, like maybe limbs, limbs that reach full screen, fuckin announce Dhalsim already Capcom

While they are still fireballs, i think Ryu in denjin mode gets very strong zoning powers.

His fireballs are so fast, and a fully charged one breaks the deffense...

If the game came out today I would probably play Ryu. I wouldn't be super excited about it though, it would be more like "Ryu's the closest thing to what I want so I guess I play him". Like Chel in Rising Thunder.

Fixed. But yeah, they need an actual zoner.

Definitely feels like they're going for that 3rd Strike design where projectiles are mostly only good as mid-range pokes, although maybe not quite to that extreme. All these V-Skills have some lengthy whiff animations. At one point I saw Nash throw a fireball at Bison who used his v-skill to absorb and when Bison threw it back Nash got a full jump-in combo.

The timing does seem fairly strict, too. I've been seeing a lot of people do it too early to too late and get a fireball in the face.

Yeah, I saw that, too. Glad we got a side by side comparison from the same environment instead of trying to compare screenshots from stages with starkly different lighting. It does look better.

Nash is a bit of a special case since his fire ball start up is slow, but recovers quickly. Any who its good that the v-skills have risk and the rewards done seem heavy handed either. Has any one hit up a six flags and got their hands on a game? I'm curious to know if any one has taken advantage of this or is six flags + SFV too small of an incentive.

Six Flags ain't that cheap to just go for SFV. I mean if you already have a trip planned SFV is a bonus but I doubt people are really making trips for it unless they got the hook up.

I don't know, whenever I've seen a Bison or Nash eat a projectile it's because they think it's parry timing for the V-Skill, and it's not as there is start up, I don't know about Bison but I can tell you now Nash's V-Skill has a ton of active frames. Then again, Nash doesn't get a return projectile, can't use it on non-projectile attacks and is kind of stuck in that animation, so perhaps Bison's has stricter timing as a trade off.

Either way I think missing V-Skills, right now at least, is just being unfamiliar with the game.
