THE GUNDAM THREAD

Wow. These kits are amazing. That setup looks pretty basic with the cheap soldiers and cheap net, but it looks great nonetheless!

Personally, I'd prefer to just buy them as models. I don't have the dexterity to paint these things. My fingers are too large and I lack precision in them to do it. But oh god if I don't enjoy looking at other's work.

you can try a master grade, or a 1/60 scale kit.

and any local hobby lobby should have what you need for precision painting should you want to do it.

also, if you can find it, watch Gundam Beginning G. it goes into the model building side of gunpla kits.
 
I only do panel lining as well, but eventually I want to at least use metalic paint to make the gundam eyes.

I want them to look good and not just be stickers dammit!
 
in actuality I have done some painting on my Build Strike.

mostly just putting in black where there is no black and painting the red on the waist panels.
 
Wait wut? A Gunpla commercial? Well I didn't even realize that would be a thing here anymore (as far as commercializing it). Pretty awesome stuff.

Everyone seems to mess with the colors on those things. Makes you kinda wonder...

Apparently those are only going to be an international release (Reverse P-Bandai lol), so it's nice to see them focusing on us for once.
 
it is nice, but i hope Iron Blooded Orphans isn't bad because we need a good gundam series,
because Build Fighters Try was only a decent season, and I've said enough about train GReco.

all we need is hobby stores to pick up gunpla and all should be well.
 
Diggin' the music a lot
still don't like the character designs all that much. Something off about 'em that I don't like.
The mech design looks pretty tight but there's something about how people look in this show that just bothers me. Doesn't feel like Gundam.

The artstyle is definately more generic. I think it coulda been a bit...grittier maybe? I don't mind it too much, but yah, I feel it could do with making everything a bit sharper.

At least its not SEED levels of making everyone super anime and being generic and just generally trash in many ways.
 
My thoughts on seed as a whole:

Good: suit designs (except astrays), Pre destiny Athrun, Lunamaria's ass, and Stargazer.

Bad: everything else they could possibly screw up.

Honorable mention: Ed and Edd fighting to the death in the dub.

okay, for context, that mopbile suit was actually a gag they used in the last episode of Build Fighters Try.
and the guy that made it in the show got berated for it too, don't worry.

in all honesty though, i'd love to buy one so I can make a Burning custom out of it.

the Acguy was already cute and cuddly as is
there was no need to make it cuter than necessary
 
in all honesty, the bearguys are pretty cool in anime.
especially when the jr bearguy did a shoryuken on the Turn A's nuts.

Been watching a ton of Gundam Build Fighters recently. Absolutely great. I mean, it's worth it for the grand return of Ramba Ral alone!

However, just got to episode 8, and man...GODDAMN DOES IT PISS ME OFF. Greco lost with very little...respect for the character they set him up to be. Lost to a kid who, while skilled, didn't seem to trying, even though Greco had been told to be highly skilled and one of the best official fighters in the world.

I don't think it's going to hurt the show too bad, but so far its been mostly good episodes (though they've had quite a few instances of telling instead of showing to avoid wasting time on quick battles). It's just a small blemish on a set of otherwise hilarious characters. Though the fact that no one at the American Regionals, despite everyone there being American, speaking English and seeming to completely comprehend Japanese made me chuckle a bit. Honestly it wouldn't have been that hard to find someone who at least spoke servicable Engrish to do the lines, at least for the announcers XD

EDIT: Also, does anyone know where I can get those international SD gundam kit things they're releasing to try to recapture some interest in the model kits? The RX really interests me cause that's the gundam I main in Full Burst. Thinking of maybe picking up a Zaku II at some point as well, cause I love me some Zaku. :D

I've also never done model kits before so 100% guaranteed to turn out disastrously.
 
yeah, Greco was set to be this super cool guy and it sucks he got beat, but it was also meant to show that a new generation of build fighters is taking the scene, and to show how strong Nils Nielson is.

you'll get plenty of awesome pro-build fighter scenes with the Italian Dandy himself.
