The Smash Bros Discussion Thread

Shantae pisses me off with how much of a bandwagon character she became, at least Shovel Knight was a completely new and original (to a degree) IP and a flavor of the month.

Most of Shantae's games as far as I know sold from poor to OKish, and I have a feeling 1/2 Genie Hero isn't gonna do much better.

That's not to say I base everything on sales, but it just shows me how much people suddenly want the character because other people want the character.

Lol. You do know that the founder used to work for Wayforward and also worked on some of the Shantae games? Shovel Knight and Shantae games are basically the same thing.

You're right I completely forgot about all those other middle-eastern themed platformers where the main character is a belly dancer who attacks people with her hair and transforms into animals :0

Also, while I did bring up the point of sales, I never said anything bad about the games, as far as I know they're really good, it's just when Smash came along and the choruslinecarriage came with it at full force it was kinda annoying.

To be honest you could say that about a lot of the characters that people want in smash. At least the series is getting more recognition.
 
I know a lot of people went of the rails when Cloud got confirmed with LITERALLY ANYONE CAN GET IN YOU GUYS, but I do think for the Castlevania hold outs it does actually make Alucard more likely than Belmonts since Symphony is the one everyone knows.

Not saying Castlevania is likely to see a rep, that Alucard or Belmonts should get in, just a thought.
 
I'd prefer Simon more because he's iconic to the NES and it'd be great to have him get in with the Mega Man treatment
just have him awkwardly strut everywhere and drop like a stone after his jumps
 
Give him a stage where you can break bits of brick to reveal health items. And when presented with stairs your character's feet suddenly become honey and they can only slow walk up and down completely defenseless.

I mean, thanks to Smash the Wii Fit Trainer has become somewhat of an icon online. A tight-yoga-pantsed, downward dog icon.

I just want shantae because I want a non-physical character for once, a magic user, and a female among the dlc roster.

But I guess that just means I want to fuck her right? God forbid I like a character other than the need to fornicate like a god damn animal.

You mean the characters they explicitly said can NOT appear due to hardware limitations? Maybe if it's JUST ONE Climber and they're alt costumes. But I don't think they'll appear back in Smash until there's an NX port of Smash U/3DS.
 
Shantae is more possible than any of those two-bit heroes you guys want in.

This means a lot and from what I heard, Nintendo's higher ups already LOVE Shovel Knight in Japan. It's said to be about 30% done Localization.
 
Metroid is waaay more popular in North America than in Japan. So is sonic, Snake, and many more.

Also who the hell owned xenoblade chronicles here in the west? Besides you guys forget it's based on votes.

There's also that thing where Japanese Smash players had no fucking idea who Little Mac was.

It's not a vote, it's a suggestion box. Even if someone got 30x the "votes" than everyone else, doesn't mean they're in. It's still up to Sakurai. Heck, it could be worth nothing and was just a means of getting everyone hyped for Smash DLC.

If we're gonna say characters should not be included if people are gonna jack off to them

Then there shouldn't even be ANY characters in smash from the start since people will jack off to almost anything.

There's also that bit where Punch-Out!! and Metroid are official Nintendo products, and Shantae is a non-presence in Japan made by western indie developers that didn't even have the good fortune to be in Captain Rainbow.
