Valentine Combo Thread

What you need is a burst bait that dodges with vial that puts them high in the air, rather than like, otg sLK sHP (kara vial load)
This way you have more time for the vial to load and to attempt a punish

sHK comes to mind?
I was trying s.HK, the problem was that the second vial load takes longer than the first, so even though they are pretty high when they burst, I still didn't have the time to recover from the vial load.

This is true. I noticed the other day and I never realized it, but the stronger a vial load, the longer it takes to prep. I was struggling to squeeze in the level 3 load on some setups because I wasn't aware at the time. Whoops.

cHP then? You can probably hit with cHP where you can't with sHK and it's a launcher, leaving them at a peak height after it hits, and you burst bait with it by hitting with it from the peak of it's hitboxes at the top, meaning its going to push them really high if they burst late. But you aren't gonna dodge that with a vial load..

Hmph. And air string to sHP on the ground is not easy.
 
Nothin' says they have to burst on the first hit for it to be a bait, and nothin' says they have to burst instantaneously. :^P If it's for a combo video only you can use whatever settings you like...

I suppose it would work if they delayed burst, but would still be nice if it worked off an ASAP burst. I think I can get a pretty high c.HP xx Vial Load burst with the assist I'm using though.
 
Oh, but even with first-hit burst you can do like...corner vs Fortune, Lv3 green vial toss, c.HP, jump straight up LP--MK(1)--HP \/ c.HP xx vial load (burst), CH c.HP + Excella xx vial load, vial load, catch, vial toss, continue.

Well I was trying to do something like

Combo stuff > assist + vial load > burst bait + vial load > combo stuff > assist + vial load > vial toss > combo stuff. If I had a lvl 3 vial pre loaded, that doesn't really follow the original parameters. Although, following the original parameters, It really doesn't look possible at all to get a HCH after the lvl2 vial load burst bait. Best I could do was a LCH after the burst.

Or you can just do a regular burst bait HCH without throwing the vial since you have Lv3 already.

I was mostly trying to avoid using an assist like excella or a-train because it just makes loading multiple vials easy and wasn't as interesting. I'll keep at it to see if I can come up with anything before I resort to excella.

He can OTG with whatever

Double specific, needs level 2 vial
Corner bla bla c.HP

s.LP s.MK tag to Beo
He can OTG with lights.

I don't play either of these characters, this can probably be optimised further with other fancy shit but basic concept is to pull the opponent to the other side and cancel to Beo tag while keeping green vial, so as to get Beo in without spending bar.

Edit: this concept is also probably a thing with other tags, like Painwheel.

I never optimized my corner Val/Hairball combo properly that I never use because I don't even play that team. But here's a 5 minute redo.

 
8190 for a corner combo with lvl3 poison vial and 2 meters? eh. could do better.
 
Also, it's better to set the dummy to crouch if you're doing this sort of loop. Presumably the reason you're getting the hit in the first place is because it's an instant overhead
 
can i request someone post/ point me in the diretion of a decent intermediate bnb vial and vial less combo and a heavy combo for me to get started w learning valentine?..or i just have to wade thru 17 pages of this thread?

Couldn't you use cr.HP instead of cr.MK to otg?

Cool combo to end a match. Taunt can be replaced with vial load.
 
I SEE BLUE BOUNCE. They can ground tech forward out of that during your taunt and you die. Assuming the tech range is outside of spiral assist. Idk in a hotel and can't test shit. Set the training dummy to ground tech pls.

still viable if you call spiral in between the 2nd and 3rd s.hk and you don't give time for a knockdown.

I see. But what if i don't use OTG?
 
yeah if you don't use OTG you still get the sliding knockdown, but if you're going for damage just use the OTG, and end the last chain with s.hp or call spiral assist before the last s.hk hits. Also you can milk a bit more damage if you cancel the last hit of the last chain into bypass.

Is there a way to combo into Excellabella from HK? I've tried doing HKx2, bypass (L/M) using assist input but I get dead cross instead of bypass so Excellabella just whiffs.
 
I would imagine you could do it off of the 2 hit HK corner float that people usually call bomber during e.g.

 
Perhaps I should clarify that I'm talking about using HK as a starter, not mid combo (the same way that Duckator uses bomber to combo off of HK in neutral). Therefore, unless the HK is hitting a jumping opponent, they will be grounded during HKx3. So that wouldn't work.

HKx1-3, QCT+PP+K for Scalpels + Excella works anywhere, on everyone I tried it on. You still get a poison load and a followup combo, and you have HKx3 to confirm whether you want to spend any meter or not.
HK HK call Excella and quickly L Bypass works on tall characters in the corner (Parasoul, Eliza, etc), but not on anyone-anywhere.

Worth noting since I guess people haven't really started using it(?) but if, say, QCT+P+K gives you the wrong special move, you can do P+K ~ QCT+release the appropriate button to negative-edge the correct special move. It's only a few frames slower, and much easier than double tapping the correct button. If you're skilled you can make it almost frame-perfect by doing like D,DF+P+K, F+release button. I learned this long ago for doing Potemkin 6H FRC to Pot Buster, you do 6H 632146+P+K+S ~ release P. (Maybe this should be a news post or a video? Heh.)

If you're gonna use H LnL assist, it's kinda a waste to use it late in the combo. I was able to get 8.6k (1 meter, no vials) pretty easily off this starter:
